Liquidpoker Sunday Weekly

First, I’d like to apologize to anyone who missed the tournament today because it was an hour off-schedule, due to daylight savings time. But for the 17 competitors who made it, today was a slow day and a long tournament, lasting nearly 2 hours and starting with less than two full tables! When the final table began, we had the following chip counts:

Seat 1: TianYuan (4025 in chips)
Seat 2: adrianliu (2164 in chips)
      Seat 3: NineOne0ne (927 in chips)
Seat 4: curtinsea (9397 in chips)
Seat 5: SretiCentV (3846 in chips)
Seat 6: Chase Fedina (2578 in chips)
      Seat 7: AngeL_fH (1188 in chips)
      Seat 8: hannes22 (1038 in chips)
      Seat 9: Bulldogg_J (337 in chips)

A crippled short stack with only a little over 5 big blinds, Bulldogg_J was the first player to bust out, losing a coinflip for his tournament life. Angel_fH was next, getting in with AK only to run into AA and finish in 8th place. Soon after this elimination, an enormous 60 BB all-in preflop pot erupted between Chase Fedina and TianYuan, but KQ defeated TT to bust Chase Fedina in 7th.

After a crippling loss for most of his stack, hanness22 found himself with a decent Ace and not much time to wait around. But when he bumped into NineOne0ne’s JJ, the outcome was a 6th place finish. After a long period of very tight play with constant blind stealing five-handed, adrianliu got all-in against curtinsea, but to his dismay was dominated and lost, to be eliminated in 5th place.

With four players remaining and just three to get paid, the rail began to heckle them for their excessively tight play. That is to say, I called them nits mercilessly. It wasn’t long before my chat put them into action, and SretiCentV pushed with a combo draw and ran into a gutshot that completed a backdoor flush! There were so many table-changing cards in the hand, I couldn’t keep track of who was where until I saw the chips move.

Now in the money, NineOne0ne shoved over TianYuan’s preflop raise with a meager K9o, only to get called by a worse king! His favored hand held up to win the pot and double through the chip leader, coming out with a stack of over 20 big blinds. It wasn’t long before the exact same play occurred again, this time with NineOne0ne holding 77 and TianYuan calling with A3. But both players made full houses, with NineOne0ne’s being stronger and doubling him up yet again.

Finally, TianYuan clashed with NineOne0ne in a large pot for his tournament life, but this time he had the best of it! Unfortunately, A6 defeated his KK and eliminated him in 3rd place. For his finish, TianYuan received $34.

When heads-up play began, the stack sizes were only one big blind different. Play became very aggressive from both players, even with some tricky limp/reraises on the button, preflop shoves, and flop check/raises. After stealing a few pots, curtinsea made a somewhat costly bluff and surrendered a slight chip lead to NineOne0ne. After a little more blind-trading, NineOne0ne woke up with a huge hand against a curtinsea who was bored and eager to make a move. After an all-in river bluff from his opponent, NineOne0ne snapcalled with a full house to win the tournament! Congratulations to our top two finishers, who received $51 for second and $85 for first.
