February

February went quite well. Didn't get to play as much as I would have wanted, but in the end the bottom line was good. Right now also Chicago Poker Classic live events are going on. Played a $350 tourney there, but got knocked out after not getting too many cards and then losing two flips in a row a few hours into it. Going to try to satellite into the $3k main event--I usually do quite well in sats, both online and live. It's a really nice series of events with very good structure, so plenty of opportunities for skill to come into play.

Had a lot of family come visit, so didn't get to play as much as I would have liked. Overall, not a bad month though. Up a bit over $7k after euro to dollar conversion in cash, with RB and live games, a bit over $10k total. Main goal for the end of the year is to hit the next milestone bonus (74k VPPs away). January

January was somewhat swingy with several short but brutal downswings hitting me as I added more and more NL400 volume. In the end, it turned out to be a good month though. I stopped playing ring games on FTP almost completely because, besides being rigged, FTP simply cannot compete with the new Stars rewards system. Just straight up points to concierge at regular Supernova at 6-max Stars comes out to 31% of MGR. Since the actual rake I pay tends to be quite a bit lower than MGR, my actual rakeback is quite a bit higher. On top of that, you add Stellar Rewards and Milestone bonuses along with other minor stuff such as deposit bonuses etc. and you are looking at something that is way way better than the 27% rakeback on FTP. Iron Man adds a tiny bit, but nothing really significant unless you play A TON on FTP alone.

In addition to my cash winnings online, I also won some during my two trips to the local casino as well as a couple of tournament cashes. Along with rakeback, the month came out to just over $10k, making it a good start to the year.

The goal for this month is to keep working on increasing volume while transitioning to playing almost exclusively NL400. I also need to get on the schedule where I swim at least 6 times a week and do drylands at least 3. Our practices start at 5:30am on weekdays, so it's easy to get out of the groove and miss a few if I do not maintain a fairly strict schedule. It is said that it takes 3 weeks to develop a habit, which is just under the length of February. So by the end of February, I want to have my workout schedule down. My goal is to be in top shape for Masters Swimming Nationals at the end of summer. Half a year is a good amount of time to prepare, but I need to start now.

Here's my graph for the past month:
