The main villain is nediely who is playing 94/0/14 over 47 hands. I value raise preflop but being deep and having JJ is definitely scary. Flop sucks and he snap checks it back. Turn he bets, I tank and fold. God I wanna kick my own ass right now for making such a shitty fold. Had to stop the session to make sure I don't tilt. This is the most steamed up I've been in ages. I guess I haven't blown such a huge pot in a while. Totally failed.

I found a series on DC called "Twee Bets" by "Nolan". I'm assuming that it's our Nolan and not some impostor. I mean, how many Nolan's who pwn at poker could there be? But I wanna confirm that it is him so that if I see him in the future I don't go "hey I loved your twee bet series" and it turns out it was another Nolan, so the real Nolan looks at me like I'm an idiot.
On another note I played 4.8k hands yesterday. That's the most hands I've played in one day in a long time. Only got 12k hands on the month though. Such grind fail. I used to get 40k hands pretty consistently each month, but for the last few months I've rarely broken 20k hands. Not good. So I'm trying to get myself to grind a lot more. Hoping to get between 10-15k hands this weekend. I'm off to a good start!
So as I think I mentioned in a previous blog, I went to India. Just got back last friday. I have been sick for the past week with about every symptom you can think of - fever, headache, runny nose, sore throat, diarrhea, etc. Finally feeling better today.
I went to India for a work trip. For those who don't know, I work part time with a non-profit called PeaceJam (site is down for updates as I post this). We do work with Nobel Peace Prize winners and youth all around the world on both an educational program and service projects. Lately I've just been the web guy (built the site which is linked above with a friend) but I also help at conferences as an MC. No, not a rapper, it means "Master of Ceremonies" and it means I just kinda direct things from the stage.
Here's some pics from the trip for ya'll to enjoy.
Cruising India
1 billion people means you gotta share space on the road

Totally out of order, but this is on the way to india
So I've noticed that ever since I stopped obsessing with my results and focusing entirely on playing well, I have had less of an urge to blog about poker. I used to do lots of posts with graphs and stats and hands and blah blah. If I had a good session I wanted to tell the world and I was obsessed with admiring my graphs and bb/100. If I ran bad I wanted to tell the world and show them my EV graph and how much I SHOULD have won.
Now I don't care about any of that shit. I play a session and the only thing I check is how many hands I played cause I like to try and do at least 2k a day. But I never force myself to keep playing to hit 2k or to stop playing cause I hit 2k. It's just a general goal. If I start tilting after 200 hands then I quit and if I don't get mentally together again then I don't play anymore that day. I rarely ever check my BR and only occasionally look at graphs and session results. Usually I check HEM about 1 time a week but I've gone a month without looking at my BR or HEM graphs/results.
Wow, I went off on a tangent there. My point was that even though I wanted to get back into blogging, I have very little to blog about. So I guess I'll talk about non poker stuff.
I just got back from a week long trip to Washington DC which was awesome. I was there to work on a conference that my dad was holding but it doubled up as a chance for me to see some family. My GF came with me and we spent as much time at my grandma's house as we could where we ate the best food ever. She used to be a private chef for lots of fancy people in DC but she's retired now and her #1 customers are me and my brother, and now my GF too =) So that was awesome. The conference was fun too.
This was the first time I actually drove in DC cause usually I'm only there for xmas and when we go out it's a family thing and my uncle usually drives. But since we were working I was driving a lot and the first few days of driving in DC were insane. That place has the craziest traffic laws and confusing roads and aggressive drivers. It's like LA aggression while driving in a maze. Most locals I talked to said they hated driving in downtown DC and that they avoided it whenever they could, lol. But after a few days I figured out enough that I was able to get around smoothly.
Now I'm home for a week during which I'm trying to play lots of poker. Before I went to DC I was in the best mental zone for poker that I've ever achieved in my entire life, so I was a bit upset that I had to go spend a week working long days with no poker. I spent yesterday getting caught up with other work stuff and today I finally got to play again. First session I was scattered and played badly, but the second session went much better. I'm getting much better mental control which is my main focus right now. I'm excited to play every day till the 20th, when I will be going to India for about 10 days. Another conference.
Having some friends over for games and maybe some poker tomorrow night. Then Friday dinner with my dad and Saturday an office bonding party. Lots to do and loving everything. I think that might be part of why I'm not so into blogging lately - nothing to complain about!
My friends around here probably noticed that I haven't blogged in a long time. Considering that I was one of the most active bloggers, it is kind of weird that I've gotten so scarce on LP. But it's all for good reasons. I've basically been getting my life together. For a while I was overworked at my normally part time job for a nonprofit as I was finishing up a brand new website that I'd built for them with a buddy of mine. Then I took a break and went to vegas for the WSOP and got into a big poker mode for a while. I started coaching and also grinding a lot and had some good results after vegas. Coached a bunch of people but the crowd thinned out to 2 guys that I really enjoyed working with. I kept coaching them and at the same time started having another big downswing. Not so much in terms of losing lots of money, just a lot of breaking even. I ended my coaching with sakisaki as he went off to medical school (thanks for everything Anders, I'd suck at poker if it wasn't for your help) but it was a nice parting as we'd become good friends and I feel like he did an amazing job as a coach and couldn't ask for more.
So I continued coaching and started playing poker less and less as I got back into working on this website for my job. And now I'm in another transition. I've been planning a trip to India with my lady for a while now and we've set the departure for mid january. That means between now and then I need to save up as much money as I possibly can and also finish all the work I want to do on this website and then train everyone on how to use it and maintain it once I'm gone. December is pretty much filled up with holiday travel to see family so I've got 2 months to do those 2 things. I realized that while I've been covering all my expenses and saving a little money, at the rate I'm currently saving I won't have enough to do this trip properly. So I'm refocusing myself to play even more poker and do less coaching, and to spend less and less time at my part time job.
I dunno if I'm gonna keep blogging a lot but I have a feeling I'm gonna get back into it, so keep an eye out for more updates =) I do miss all you weird mofos and I miss poker, so I'm happy to be refocusing on this part of my life again!
I just DL'd and played the demo on Steam and while my computer can't run it at the best graphics, the gameplay is awesome and totally engrossing. I never thought they could make a good batman game but they actually did. It doesn't come out for PC (on Steam at least) till the 15th so I've gotta wait a bit still, but I'm excited and definitely getting it ASAP.
I'm sure most of you know what a donkey punch is, and for those who don't, you better ask somebody.
(On a side note I never understood why the fuck people say that, "you better ask somebody". It's like, no shit sherlock, that's why I'm asking you so instead of telling me to ask somebody just tell me wtf it is, cuntface)
So this movie is about a donkey punch that goes epicly wrong. It was overall pretty good but I think I missed about half the dialogue due to the insane amount of limey slang in the movie. One guy especially reminded me of another group of wild crazy brits called goldie lookin chain:
