House Hunting
thewh00sel, Mar 18 2009
For the past few weeks my wife and I have been house shopping because we finally got approved for a home loan. Anyone who claims poker as their main source of income should know how annoying this can be. I have been laughed out of a couple of banks and been told that it is impossible to get one by loan officers, but I finally got pre approved. So I'm pretty stoked about that. We've been looking at houses for about a year or so, just in case we ever did get approved or I won some big donkament and could throw down cash for one so we pretty much knew what kind of house we wanted.
Anyways, we found one that we really like over in Green Valley and we went ahead and put an offer in on it. A few days later we found out that they went with another offer, which was lame since we offered full asking price plus we pay 100% of closing costs. Must have been a really good offer from someone else. So a couple days after that we found another house that we really liked and we decided to put an offer in on that one. It is about 30k cheaper but it doesn't have a pool yet, so we'd have to install that and it'll probably end up costing about the same as the other one would've. So we put an offer in on that and are looking to hear back from them today or tomorrow. I'm pretty confident about this one because it's been on the market for almost a year and no one's ever lived in it.
Here are some pics-
asking price- 280k
offer- 270k
sq feet- 3200
location- southwest las vegas/gated community
Hopefully this final table-esque rail thread won't jinx it o_O GL me run good one time.
Won Wynn Classic $1500 event
thewh00sel, Mar 09 2009
So I played the wynn classic event that Cosmo won last year and I guess I kept it in the LP.net family [=
It was a really good tournament and the final table went fairly smoothly until 4 handed when Evan (FrinkX) showed up for a few minutes to rail a little bit. I ended up getting it all in with AA vs QQ for an 800k pot with 1.8mill chips in play and he spiked a Q on the river. Would've been all over after that, instead it lasted another 3 or 4 hours. I had to grind back up and eventually i took out the 3rd place guy with KK vs his AJ all in pre to get heads up.
The heads up battle lasted for over 2 hours. The guy was a sick nit and I folded more top pairs heads up than I care to think about. Seriously the guy raised like no hands preflop so i was like flatting AQs in the big blind bc he would ALWAYS have a hand pre if he raised. Anyways my strategy was working out great, saw a ton of flops and grinded him down from even stacks to like 400k then he limp/called all in with KJs vs my A9o and he hit a flush. Then i grinded him down again and managed to get most of the money in with my J7 vs his J5 on a J3TJ board and a 5 binked on the river to double him again. After that we hovered for a little while and I eventually doubled with AT on AA5 flop to his A9 and after that it didn't last too long. He shipped JJ for like 200k and i called with 77 and hit a 7. About time if you ask me [=
Here are the pics!
Edit: Oh yeah and 82k isn't bad either!
playing well cmon results!
thewh00sel, Mar 05 2009
Feb ended up not being as great as I was expecting thanks to some bad luck in the live poker arena but whatever I still have had two really solid months so far.
More importantly, I've been extremely happy with my game lately. All of my ace high call downs have been correct and my bluffs are all well timed. Also I've been making some good laydowns which is the trifecta for some good results. Now I just need to wait for those results to come in while still playing the same way that I am now. Anyways this is just a motivational post and also I wanted to post this hand that I'm pretty proud of.
Norfmans range here is like always aa when he flats a 20ish bb stack like this. I'm just happy I got to see the showdown so I could show this hand off hehe.

I won 3 tournaments today!
thewh00sel, Feb 05 2009
That's what this blog would say if the cocktease that is tournament poker worked out today.
So I wake up today at 930 eager for a day of MTT's. I join the 109 and the 100 rebuy and I run pretty well during both of those, but only well enough to manage a 15th or something and a 24th i believe. So that was annoying. Then I played the evening 100r which got a great turnout thanks to FTOPs and first was going to be over 50k. I managed to get 19th in that. Then I played the FTOPs and got the regular bubble which is fine, and I played the 100 rebuy on FTP which got a great turnout for a 50k of over first in that one as well and finished in the 30's.
Basically just venting about not final tabling anything when my last 3 tournaments of the day all have 50k+ up for grabs and im top 20 in chips at least at some point during the thing and just lose a flip or something retarded. Basically I needed to prepare myself for sunday on a wednesday and i guess my balls weren't ready to be kicked in so hard. Thanks tournament poker, see you again in a couple days for another beating.
On a positive note, here's shaundeeb, member of team pizzastars hard at work.
