June
DaTruf, Jun 03 2010
I have alot of stuff going on this month. My current lease on my house ends July 28, so I have to find a new house before then, which I think I have. My current landlord has a 3 bedroom 2 full bathroom house that I should be able to get.
Pokerwise, I feel like I have a firm grasp on my current limit. I'm rolled to move up, so I'll probably go ahead and do that after the 1st week of June (or maybe a little after. there are other factors besides my bankroll that go into the decision). So my June goals for poker are to continue learning and improving at the next limit.
Also, I completely fucked up my sleeping schedule during the last week of May. I sleep too far into the day and only get about 4 hours of poker in. It's kind of funny to me, though, because sleeping later has made it mentally easier to play poker because I'm solely playing at a more optimal time. On the other hand, I don't have time to work out, which makes it easier to play poker at the less optimal times because I feel more mentally fresh after I've worked out early and my energy is also up.
I'm going to Bonnaroo, so the excessive drug usage should be a nice break from reality for a few days. Not that my life is bad or anything. It's just alot better when drugs/alcohol (synonymous??) are involved .

HEM help
DaTruf, Jun 01 2010
i try to open HEM and i get a message that says, "the following error occurred when trying to load the database: unable to read the transport connection: And existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host."
wtf does this mean?? and more importantly, how do i fix it??
Monitors?
DaTruf, May 30 2010
I play on a 17" laptop, so I play with the tables overlapping. It's very annoying most of the time. What size monitor do I need to get to not have any overlap.
I was planning on just ordering a monitor w/ FPPs. Has anyone done this before? If so, how long does the monitor take to ship?
Super Fail
DaTruf, May 24 2010
Ok, so I fell way short of my May goals. I know that there is a week left, but it's not looking too good. What is most disappointing isn't that I didn't achieve my buy-in goal, but that I'm not even to the halfway point of my total hands played goal (100k), which reflects a lack of work ethic and dedication on my part.
Poker is a tough game. And as a small stakes player, I need to be putting in the work if I want to improve and move up. Improving and moving up doesn't just happen. There's a process (or processes) to follow in order to achieve success (big or small) in poker. I have every tool (LP, HH posting thing, HEM, etc), every opportunity (I'm not having to work or go to school right now), and I have people to help my game along the way. So no excuses. If I'm not progressing on a consistent level, then there's only one place to point my finger.
I was at around 30 buy-ins in 35k hands, but in the last 5k hands I've dropped about 10-12 buyins, which is extremely frustrating. Unfortunately, I can't even say that it's due to downswinging.
I haven't necessarily run well in 100bb+ pots, but that's fairly standard. Everyone goes through stretches where they can't seem to win a hand after the chips are in the pot, or you seem to run into the tops of peoples ranges (LOL AS IF I CAN HAND READ AND PUT PEOPLE ON RANGES). And sometimes, even though I'm ahead and lose, the loss is a direct result of putting myself in a gross spot that should have never come up.
The main problem is that I've been spewing a ton in hands under 100bbs. These pots really start to add up over time. I don't even mind that I spew in alot of spots because poor play SHOULD lead to me learning. I do mind, however, that I repeat the same mistakes over and over instead of pinpointing these leaks and trying to fix them immediately.
Enough venting. To close out this last week of May, I want to play 4k hands a day (6-8 hours) and get better at evaluating my own game because that is a huge struggle for me. It's very hard for me to figure out how to plug leaks when:
a) I sometimes can't even identify the spot in which I'm leaking money
b) When I do identify a spot, I come to the wrong conclusion on how to plug that leak
So new goals (for every month):
-4k hands a day on days where I have the time (most days) with breaks after 500 or 1k hands (haven't decided yet) to find spots where I'm leaking money and try to correct my play.
-No buyin goals. While they're nice to have, they don't affect my play. My play affects my buy ins.
It's called a grind for a reason. Success in all things revolves around the "grind". It's the process by which we achieve goals and move on to bigger and better things. Nothing in poker is handed to you. You have to earn it. So until I wake up and I've turned into Paris Hilton, which I highly doubt will be happening any time soon, I'll be on the grind.
Sorry for the long boring blog. I just needed to get some thoughts down and clear my head.

High Hobbies
DaTruf, Apr 26 2010
First of all, I'll go ahead and say that I don't get high very often. Maybe 3-4 times a month maximum. When I am high off my ass, though, I LOVE watching planet earth ( on blue ray HD TV obv ). It absolutely blows my mind. Basically, I was hoping that some of you could offer suggestions as to mind-blowing material that you enjoy while high. Try to stick to movies or shows, but music suggestions are also welcome. And links are ftw, but obviously that might be a pain for you so it's not necessary.
Thanks LP
need coach
DaTruf, Apr 21 2010
I play 100NL. I'm breakeven at the limit and I'm getting kind of frustrated with it. I beat 25nl and 50nl for about 7ptbb over the last 150k hands each. I'm looking for a coach who is a consistent winner at 200NL or higher. I'm looking for something long term with someone who is fairly flexible with their schedule. I'm determined to improve my game and have realized that I'm going to need some help along the way. I am willing to discuss coaching sessions and payment with anyone who is interested. You can either comment in my blog or PM me. Thanks

Fuck
DaTruf, Apr 05 2008
I'm so sick of the cycle. I consistently have 100-400 dollar days at micro stakes, and then what happens? well i drink... thats what the fuck happens. and i log on for an hour and lose 400-500 asap... AT MICRO/LOW STAKES. if it werent for drinking + poker, i would have god knows how much in my stars accnt, but instead i get drunk and have a tendency to click and drag the bet cursor when i know im fucking dominated... im so sick of this. i turned 90 dollars into 1100 in 1 week, and no it wasnt from fucking running good. trust me, i put in my hours. and then tonight i log on for 1 fucking hour and lose 400... i drank 3 nights this week, losing about 1k total combining each of those nights. if it werent for that, i'd have turned 90 dollars into 2k in 12 days... FUCK
I salute
DaTruf, Mar 08 2008
I salute all of those people on LP that can actually beat small stakes. NL50 and lower is fucking hard... ihonestly cant run better than 6bb/100. i really feel like i could be high stakes at a higher bb/100 then small stakes, is fucking rediculous... so all of you on LP that can beat small stakes at more than 8bb/100 i respect you... medium and high stakes is much easier than micro stakes... and for those of you who play medium stakes that wish to comment on my blog, plz dont, go fuck yourself because im better than you are, just read and continue because i dont want to read ur bullshit post bc ur a joke, TY
