Heater + help on some hands
  RAINISM, Dec 28 2009

I don't know what happened this winter break but I feel like I've finally started to do well in poker. I've tightened up my play a bit and learned how to extract value from my opponents on a range of hands. Much of this is thanks to TL but I think relief from the stress of studying everyday is also a big part of clearing my mindset. I'm starting my pharm tech job this week and have been spending the nights relaxing with friends. Life seems pretty good.

Soooo I think I had my first real heater this past couple days. I wish I had a hand history program to show you guys a graph but I believe I won about 14 or 15 buy-ins at NL10. I should really get some software...

Anyways here are the hands; assume villian there is no read on any of these opponents:

#1 + Show Spoiler +

Should I 2nd barrel on the turn here? If so, how much?
As played, should I bluff the river?

#2 + Show Spoiler +

Is a call justified here? Lots of players at NL10 do this with KK/AA imo. I haven't seen villian act out of line at all in the past 30 or so hands. What do we do if we had QQ in the same situation?

#3 + Show Spoiler +

Easy fold or? I don't think villian would limp with KQ.

#4 + Show Spoiler +

I think I played this REALLY bad. Now that I look back on it I should have repopped the flop or shoved the turn.

#5+ Show Spoiler +

Should I have reraised pf? As played, how do we act on flop? Reraise to like $4 or smooth call? If we smooth call how do we act if villian fires again?

#6 + Show Spoiler +

Villian only has about 50bb's. I probably should have 3bet the flop but as played, do we easily fold to the turn minreraise? Bleh this was a real poorly played hand by me. I think I was just a little tilted by the results.

I really didn't like that river card. My plan here was check calling but the all in just seemed so fishy. Is check fold our only option here? Would betting the river here be stupid? If I do bet out, how much do I bet?

#8 + Show Spoiler +

I know I should have bet larger on the flop/turn, but as played, is this a easy fold? Say if we had bet bigger on both the flop and turn and villian acts the same on river, is it a fold?

Thank you for all the feedback.

Finals & Questions
  RAINISM, Dec 02 2009

Finals next week... shouldn't really be blogging but I have a lot of questions and I kinda wanna just write a little.

Pharmacy school is tough shit. It's something I really want to do but I barely get to do anything besides studying ever since junior year. I wonder a lot about how college would have been if I had applied to a state school. Can't wait for winter vacation to start so I can really work to improve my game and relax.

Sooooo I've been playing poker for about a year now. Even though I just grind microstakes, I realize that I would have made a LOT of money from rakeback if I had it.

So my question is... how do I get rakeback on Full Tilt if I already have a FTP account? Can I just create a new account on a new e-mail and put in the LP code and start playing? I've never withdrawn money from my FTP account before since I just exchange cash for my FTP money with my friends. Would this allow me to just make a new account for rakeback?

First big cash
  RAINISM, Jul 04 2009

My first blog post....
been a lurker here for a few months. Just to give a little intro of my play: I play $5-$10 sit-n-gos at FullTilt for profit, cash in about 25% of my games. Started playing cash games but thats been a fail.
Anyways I decided to start a blog cause I won first big cash last night. I've been going to a poker room in Rockingham, New Hampshire every other weekend for the last couple months. Bout a month ago I played in my first local live tournament: $40 2 rebuys. Lost soon after my table broke up a couple hours in. After night I realized I had played foolish, folding hands I should have shoved and bluffing in spots I could have easily stealed.
So last night me and my buddies decided to head out again. We all signed up for the $40 rebuy again. There was a big turnout... about 50 players and 50ish rebuys. The poker room took 20% of the prize money... about $1000 is that common in poker rooms? I felt like they were robbing us.
Anyways after a good start I lost half my stack KK vs A-8 offsuit preflop and then bled chips for awhile til button put me all in with ace-rag and I doubled up with AQ. After that I played the best poker I've ever played. Stole lots of pots, made good folds, and got good value on my monsters. Entered final table 4th in chips. Won my first race of the night and stole lots of blinds at the bubble (6 got payed). When it came heads up I was down 4:1 but got lucky on a all-in and played great after that. Winning hand was Ac10s for a club flush. 2nd place was steamed cause he shoved all in with QJo and I called with A10. Felt really good when I realized I won 1st for $1000. Treated my buddies to dinner afterwards. Was a great memorable night.
