pwning NL2 (with stats)
  rgfdxm, Oct 14 2007

Brag post time (and also experimenting with posting images).

I mentioned last time I don't have PT, but I saw FrEaK[S.sIR]'s post in Main Poker about Holdem Manager and jumped on the opportunity to see my stats, which I've been pretty curious about. Unfortunately I didn't realize until I went looking that PokerStars doesn't automatically save hand histories, you have to turn on the option. So no histories for the 7000ish hands I played before this afternoon.

I played two sessions of about 600 hands each once I made sure Stars was saving HH's now, and here are the results:

So yeah, huge heater today. I also played a 600ish session this morning for $6 or so, so my bankroll went from $100 to $135 today. I 4 table 6-max fast tables, by the way.

This hand was pretty much my only major suck-out this session, but it happened early on and set the tone for the day:

I found it hilarious.

I can beat NL2
  rgfdxm, Oct 13 2007

I guess I was just running bad over the incredibly small sample that was my first day. I've played somewhere in the neighborhood of 6000 hands since my start on Tuesday, and I'm up about $40. That puts my winrate at about 15 PTBB/100 hands I guess (no PT yet for me). Once I hit 15 buyins I started buying in fullstacked, and my bankroll is now $95. A few more days like this and I'll probably give NL5 a shot. All in all I've been feeling a lot more confident, though I did have a losing day yesterday (down $0.02 ).

Thanks to everyone who offered help on msn, but I don't actually have msn yet. I'll get it one of these days so I can talk to all of you. Thanks as well to those who have taken the time to comment on hands. I try to only post ones that I really need feedback on, but I admit that once I succumbed to temptation and posted a bad beat. Mea culpa.

Anyway, a few more hands that I still had questions about:
I called a shove here with a gutshot and flushdraw, probably quite marginal but it's not horrible is it? My guess is it would be better if I were the one shoving.

Was this good play with KK?

I'm guessing this is standard. It's a good thing the spade hit the turn because I shut down. Or should I not have?

Thanks all.

I can't beat NL2
  rgfdxm, Oct 09 2007

Well, I think I can. But I didn't today. I'm a little under break-even for 1,000 hands. I started off down two buyins in the first 80 hands losing all-in with trip 8s on the turn vs a moron slow-playing AA when he hit an A on the river, then four hands later on another table I lost to AA again in a set over set.

My bankroll started at $50ish, from cashing two freerolls and selling 3m play chips to JohnnyBologna. After losing almost 1/5 of my roll in the first hundred hands, I decided playing full-stacked was a bad plan. I've since been buying in for $2, since that's 100BBs at these stakes anyway. 800 hands and several smaller coolers later, I'm back at $50.

Here are a couple of hands:
Losing my first two KK:

Villain was an overaggro fool who was raising about 1/3 of his hands preflop, and I checked the turn intending to shove, since I had check/folded to a couple of big turn bets of his after he called my cbets. This is the second time he stacked me by making a straight with trash.

Biggest winning pot.

I feel like today's session was rough because I ran bad in a few big hands, but I did win back the $10. I'm sure I'm making lots of mistakes, but I've been reading LP for a few months and feel relatively confident. It's tough because I don't know anyone who plays poker so I don't really have anyone to talk to, but I hope to succeed like KwarK and the other NL2ers here and move up as I get better.
