Nov Results.. a little late
rossro, Dec 15 2009
Well I just got back from Cancun a couple of days ago (back to -30 degrees celsius ... ya!!), and am just now getting around to posting my novemeber results. Fortunately I got to come home and get absolutely smoked by some fish my first day back (see below), just adding to a downswing that is now over 2k in the last 5k hands. On a good note I am still feeling confindent in my game and managing to stay in fairly good spirits as I try to grind through this one.

Anyways gl to everyone during the holiday season!!
Heads Up Milestone (warning brag inside)
rossro, Nov 23 2009
So I took a look at my hold em manager today and realized that I have a hit a milestone @ 100nlhu. Pretty proud of where I have come over the last 4 months :D. Unfortunately my I lost all my data from july, which was my biggest month yet (>10k). Anyways here are the results.
Gl on the tables every1.
Rallying off of a downswing & a small milestone
rossro, Nov 05 2009
The middle of October was not a very good time for me, a combination of poor play/playing while tired/tilt led to a 12 buy-in 'downswing'. Although downswing is definately not the right word since this was definately the result of terrible play and tilt... but w.e.. Anyways since then I have managed to rally quite well and have been able get back the mental stabilty that I have had over the past few months, (thanks eightfold path to enlightenment) This week I was able to reach a small milestone in my short heads up career that I am very proud of. These are my results from Aug 1 - Today, all hu 100nl (wish my comp handn't crashed and I had a graph right from july when I began heads up.)
Graph since Oct 21 (rally after downswing)
Apologizes for the self indulgent brag post, but sometimes a person forgets to be thankful for what they have unless you take a step back. I am so proud of myself for the amount of work and dedication I have put in to get me this far. I better wrap this up before it turns into a novel.
Gl on the tables in November everyone!!!
Oct Results.... Dissappointing
rossro, Nov 01 2009
Hope everyone had a solid October. I have not been this dissapointed with my poker game in for a while. I still managed to produce a decent profit but that is little consolation. I made so many mistakes all over the place and practically gave away half of my profits. Also, mentally I am just not where I need to be, I tilt banned/cashed out for a week due to tilt issues. I think my lack of time to play (more so a lack of quality time to play) due to excessive amounts of work (12-13 hr work days, 18 straight days leading up to this friday, I had a total of 5 days off all month..). Anways, enough of me complaining, I still made a decent amount of money this month considering how much money I felt I left on the tables due to poor play. Anyways here is the graph

... I got smoked by a city bus while walking home
rossro, Oct 06 2009
Ok I will get right into it.
Last Thursday I was at a bar with a bunch of my buddies when I decided to take off a little early (worked at 5:30am the previous morning so i was tired). So I left the bar and started walking home since my house was only a few blocks away from the house. I was waiting at the cross walk at a fairly busy intersection. The pedestrian walk light came on and I began walking, not noticing anything in my direct view, although I did have my hood up since it was raining out. So I take about five steps out into the street when I hear a large vehicle basically right beside me and before I know it I am lying on the pavement in front of a city bus. The impact was enough to completely spider the front window of the bus, send me flying about 4-5 feet before I smacked the pavement on my side. The police/ems where called and recorded the incident checked to make sure I was fine (although it was extremely brief). I was able to get up immediately after the incident, obviously in shock at the time. Anyways after a few hours of reports, etc (the bus driver completely corroborated my story, and of course it was a woman.... lol). So the next morning I had a large bruise/pain on my hip as well as some pain in my shoulder/side and a head ache (although the headache could have been from being hung over). So I went to the hospital to make sure I had not broken bones or serious injuries, and after getting an xray of my hip showed that I had no broken bones, I was prescribed pain killers and sent home. This happened late last week and as of now I still have pain in my hip as well as shoulder/upper body. As well a $500 watch and brand new coat were completely destroyed in the incident.
Anyways if any of you are actually still awake after that I have a few questions I was wondering if anyone has any insights about.
1. Anyone have any clue what compensation is typical in an incident such as this one. Keeping in mind this accident occurred in Canada. I am obviously not expecting a concrete answer I am just curious if anyone has had any experience with anything remotely similar. (Keeping in mind it was a City Transit Bus)
2. I have to contact the insurance agency (SGI - Saskatchewan Government Insurance) about an injury claim tomorrow. Should I also be contacting a lawyer to get legal advice about this matter (e.g. pain & suffering compensation) ?
Thx for any responses.
Overall it was quite a traumatic experience if the bus driver had seen me a second later or been going any faster I could definitely be dead. For how hard I was hit I still cant believe how mild my injuries are, luckily I am a pretty big guy (6’4, 245 pounds and fairly muscular… at least that’s what I tell myself).
Sept Results (~7k)
rossro, Sep 30 2009
Guess my sept results post last week was a little premature. Ended up having some spare time on the weekend and this week to get in some more hands.
Includes everything but a + $300 session while I was in out of town this weekend. Anyways, good luck on the tables everyone!
Pump up the volume
rossro, Sep 24 2009
Well there is a stunning lack of volume of hands played this month, but 60-70 hr work weeks have significantly cut into my free time. However, still was a fairly successful month, had a little bit of a rocky past week or two but rallied back to have a strong finish. I am off to go party with some friends out of town for the weekend, followed by my birthday monday so I wont have much of a chance to play so I figured I would do my sept results post now. Without further delay:
Good luck on the tables everyone!
Work vs Poker lol
rossro, Sep 04 2009
Well I just finished my first week of work, it was a very long week (55hrs) which is good and bad, lots of ot for $$$ but tiring as hell, just come home and sleep then rinse and repeat. On the other hand somehow I managed to fit in a few hours of poker mon, tues, wed nights....
Oh ya I made just over $1100 cad this week @ work (~$1k USD) in those 55 hrs.
I keep telling myself that this job is good experience for an engineering student but in all honesty its not going to be relavent to any job I have in the future. Was thinking about playing poker for the fall (instead of taking a work term) after having a couple 10k+ months this summer while I was taking classes but didnt pull the trigger.. obv from pressure from my parents.
