Last five weeks were hell. I had exam after exam:

1) programming
2) engineering drawing
3) general economics
4) marketing
5) accounting and financial reporting

two more to come, but luckily in september:

6) electric engineering
7) math

Just in case you wonder: I am studying industrial engineering, so it's economics plus mechanical engineering, the electric engineering is just the basics so we can later in the job "communicate with electric engineers".

Basically I haven't played poker since June 17th, only enough hands in July to get Goldstar for August.

But since today I am free again, time to hit the tables:

sick heater, i think I am gonna try to play 2/4 soon, my roll is crawling around at $12.4k and i have some bonus pending over 240USD plus almost 80k FPPs which I will spend for the $1500 bonus soon.

PokerTracker 3 is working very good for me and I love it. Though there are many players that say that Holdem Manager is superior, but I am fine.

July did start badly for me: i excluded myself for 30 days from playing since june 17th, and BOOM there is the 2x VPP promo, which would be very valuable for me because I try to become a supernova.

I did exclude myself from playing because I wanted to concentrate on studying which didn't work out that well, I feel like I wasted a lot of time doing nonsense, in which i could have played poker, however, nothing I could do about.

There are exams at the moment, I will pass which is good, but not with great grades, but who cares?

So I didn't play a lot in July, only 8.5k hands, I only qualified for goldstar this month, but my last exam is at 11th of August and after that there will be some hardcore grind.

I did make a deposit, which qualified me for the $240 deposit bonus, when somebody offers me free money, I take it, it's still pending.

A side note: I got rid of PokerOffice, because it put me on eternal life tilt with lagging and lack of functions, so I got PokerTracker3 and I love it, it is very stable and fast.

I made a new Database with my old hands to get lots of statistics, but feels like there are some hands missing, probably all the nl25 and nl50 crazy 24-tabling sessions from March / April, because i definitely made more than 10k this semester, well there were some deposit bonuses and cash bonuses, but still did i win more at the tables, however, 100k+ hand graph:

Because I banned myself from playing last week I already can post results for june. I played enough to maintain Platinum star and my ban will end at 18th of July, so that should be enough time to keep Platinum for August.

I need to hurry up a little bit so I don't miss the semis against Turkey. I fear riots on the streets because there are many Turkish here in Germany and they are known for their aggressive behavior.

After the last game I had some serious trouble with a fellow student. We were both drunk but I am a calm person who won't get involved in fights, when he started pushing me around some other people hold him back but that wasn't a pleasant experience anyway. It's not like I was afraid of him but the situation was not worth losing some teeth or facing legal issues in my opinion and he probably knows it as well but he is a poser.

Right now I am sitting at the university in Nuremberg, waiting for some friends to finish their presentation so I can get a ride home to Erlangen, so this will rather be a bad uninteresting blog entry.

Poker has been going soso in the last time. No graphs avaible here, but my overall winrate at NL200 is only like 2BB/100 over 50k hands. I definately have some minor tilt issues, but the main reason is probably the lack of fish.
I really try to table-select, but in a long session the fish usually get busto and the tables fill up with regs. I really don't like playing against regs since I don't have a huge edge over them and they are hard to extract value from.

Now, I am not a degenerate, but I self-excluded myself from playing on stars over the time shift of 30 days. Reason is that my exams are coming up and I really need to concentrate on the university stuff right now, because till now I rather was chilling, hanging around, partying, doing sports and of course playing poker . The semester already is running 8 weeks and I am up about 11k USD which is nice as hell, but still do I consider my degree more important, and poker distracted me a lot.

hmm, i was about to offer $5 on stars for someone who finds the epic 1-2-teddy thread on 2+2 where OP gets owned with TPGK by an openshoved straight flush on the flop, because I cannot find it. But if someones knows it, please post it here.

UPDATE: had to rush from uni, that's why I couldn't complete this:
I cannot offer $5 now because my acc is locked atm obv. But if some busto micro grinder sees no other possibility to get money, i will give it to you on 18th of July if you find this thread for me.

You might also consider this as a view from me on $1/$2 Fullring.

Yesterday I went through a 5 buyin downswing, meaning I lost 1k.
Well, running bad is the best time to improve your game by finding leaks. This morning I read an interesting post by Daut saying that most players play their hands face up and this is so true.
I checked my Database and the biggest winners are also the biggest nits, and they do how they came to 1/2: by setmining. It's so fucking obvious what they are doing that I already leveled myself:

lets say a 14/10 limps UTG and I raise him with 97, flops comes A92, I cbet he checkraises me:

After a long session my thought process goes like this: "My opponent's play is so obvious and he has to know it. And he knows that a semidecent player (I consider myself as one) won't stack off on such a dry board with AK, so this is a great spot to bluff."
Watching at my hand I see second pair which makes it much less likely that my opponent holds 99, reducing his set range mostly to 22 and I call and my opponent shows 99.

Then I watch around the tables and all I see are regs like that or fish. The play is still the same as in the levels below, people are not bluffing in these spots and that's why Daut is so right. I have to meet a regular who will pull off a good bluff, haven't seen one so far.
The paradox part now is that people often make calls that only beat bluffs but just as I described bluffs don't play a role in these stakes.

So basically it's all a stupid orgy of donks throwing money at each other and all you have to do is figure out if you can beat their value range, which makes it quite easy to play once you understand this.
Yeah, I see some smartass coming and say that there are bluffs in the games, this is true, but those are either the 64/32/8 lagtards who simply spew around or some "I missed my flush now I bet a weak-ass amount on the river" type bluffs, but you will seldom to never see a well represented hand as a bluff.
Often I see a hand and think: "Wow, this is such a great spot to bluff", however, the regulars always have the hand they do represent.

Now, a reason being why everybody, especially the regs, is playing, let's say solid, but face-up poker is that you have to play like this yourself in order to beat the games.

Read the sample hand above and realize that when you try to outthink your opponents you end up leveling yourself and losing, simply said, thinking 2 levels above your opponent doesn't help.

Another thing that tells you your opponent's cards are bet sizes: Big bets (especially on the river) mean nuts, smallish bets, especially over several streets means very vulnerable hand.

Rethinking my play so far I realized that I always make money when I play ultra-nitty and not calling in spots where I think my opponent might be bluffing because it's a great spot to bluff, means that I am another of those regs, stacking the donks with my obvious sets.

I cashed out $1500 last week, otherwise my roll would be 10k plus. As soon as I hit $10400 I will be taking shots at 2/4.
Considering my game I feel very confident with NL200 and I think I can beat with a decent winrate. At the beginning I had a dry streak with many bad beats. 3 Months ago I was playing NL25 lol.

I really prefer Fullring over 6max because I like to think that I understand positional play pretty well and there are more constellations on a full table than with 6 seats. Also don't I like playing out of the blinds, which you are doing 33% of your hands with on 6 max, but only like 22% on Fullring. Plus 6max tilts me very fast, might be the aggressive nature of the game.
Many claim that 6max requires more "skill" than Fullring but I doubt it, it's simply a different game, I chatted with Vital[myth] about and he said it only depends on which game you understand better.

Seems like I run a little bit above expectation with my all-in luck which is nice, but my EV graph is a winning one as well, so no hate here. Also am I winning a shitload of pots without showdown.
Personally I use PokerOffice which doesn't have PokerEV or something similar, but lachlan ran the numbers for me.

Studying is time intense at the moment, exams come closer and I probably won't be able to play as much poker as I'd like to, but that's life. During June and July I will only play enough hands to remain Platinum Star, but in August I will have some more time and grind more.

i got totally leveled in this hand, it let me mindfucked and brought me totally out of concept.
My opponent was a total nit, so this is a fold on the river right? but getting these odds and the way it was played on turn/river made me not believe it.

May was a mediocre month. I was mostly playing NL200_Fullring, had a rather rough start with many bad beats, but at the end of the month I was able to win a decent amount.

I also played some NL200_6max, NL100_Fullring and NL100_6max on which I lost about $550 combined.
So all in all I made about $1000 which is fine but could be more.

June started off very sweet. I am already up over $1100 at the moment, all played on NL200_FR, along with some hands on NL100_FR on a friend's computer without PokerOffice, so there are no stats.

I really feel that I improved my game a lot in the last two months and I think that Fullring is definitely my game. 6max tilts the shit out of me.

Bankroll is at a healthy 8.5k USD now, plus 30k FPP. Yesterday I ordered a black i-pod classic from the VIP store.

In real life I did another MMA session with PplusAD. He prefers the stand-up fight, opposed to me, I rather fight on the ground. He claims it is because I am too soft and cannot stand the pain that comes with kicking each other shins. Yeah, he might be right, I have to harden them.
Well, we tried to find a compromise so we we were training takedowns from stand-up fight to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu style, so PplusAD demonstrated to me how to do a takedown:

Beside training MMA I do a lot of other sports, especially playing beach volleyball, running and swimming, which is all lots of fun to me.

We have a shitload of exams this summer, but there is a gap of 6 weeks between the economic stuff and the technical stuff, I thought I would be traveling to South-East-Asia that time for 4 weeks, alone.
But at the weekend I visited a friend of mine from my old university and we decided that we want to go together in October, after my last exam and the new semester, but I will skip the first week which isn't that important.

This is really sweet. I consider that friend the best I ever had and traveling with him to Asia is the best thing that could have happened.

At that moment I felt like breaking down and crying like a little baby. But I want to be a real man, so I wouldn't let the shit, stars dropped on me affect my game.

Wanna be a real poker player? Wanna be a tough guy? Then you have to continue to give your best and sweep away that upcoming feeling of tilt.

I won some other small to medium pots, and in the end, I even made some profit.

So, to all the whiners out there. Get your shit together, don't tilt, continue to give your best and you will get rewarded.

Considering the other lessons I gave:

The one with Alphablend went quite well I guess, we were talking about lots of stuff, also some private things. I always enjoy talking to native speakers in order to improve my english.

He observed me playing some NL25 Fullring and would later state that I "steamrolled the tables", which is quite a statement, considering that NL25 is full of stations that won't get bulldozed easily.

I had another lesson with rockman255 which didn't went that good because I was a little bit tired and my english was quite off.
He hasn't played poker for long and he is struggling with a downswing at the moment, but I think he has great potential because of his degree in theoretical math he has a great understanding for the numbers that come with Texas Holdem. Understanding the math is soooo important, cannot stress it enough.

So if you read this, keep giving your best, play lots of hands but not many tables. With more hands comes more experience and that will improve your postflop play, which with you have problems I guess.
Don't try to outplay the NL25 donks (please don't feel offended if you play NL25), just play ABC poker and you will be fine.
If a station gets aggressive, it has it, always remember this.

I want to post a great MMA match here.
Personally I think it's a great fight because it shows the different martial arts you can use in this sport.
On one hand you have the Olympics Gold Medalist Judoka Hidehiko Yoshida, and on the other side the Thai boxing expert and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt holder Wanderlei "the Axe murderer" Silva.

A little bit late, but here are my results for April:

This is only NL100 Fullring, I also played some NL50 in the beginning and some NL200, but used different databases, didn't play many hands there and was about breakeven, so I won't host it here.

I ran pretty consistently, although I couldn't hold my sick winrate of like 11BB/100, but still good, check out the graph:

In May I started to play 6max, because Fullring became a little bit boring and hard to beat at NL200, because there are so many nits playing 11/9 and setmining the shit out of the table and not giving any action at all otherwise.

6max is much more swingy than Fullring, but also more exciting and there is some action going on. This is May so far:

I run quite bad at NL200_6max. I lost all my flips, got check-raised a lot when I didn't hit, lost many 3-bet pots and didn't get any action when I did have a big hand, especially preflop.
I feel like NL200 is really a huge step from NL100, both Fullring and 6max, but I don't want to grind NL100, as a poker player who both enjoys the game and the money, there is still some progress to make, maybe I will grind NL400 for a income.

Maybe I will go back to Fullring when I have a solid LAG style which I can use to crush the setmining nits at Fullring. I also thought about playing some Heads-up cashgames to improve my postflop play. We will see.

Discovering Online-Poker is definitely the best thing that could have happened to a semi-broke student like myself, but all the other students I told about it didn't get into it, don't know why.

And there are many small pot hands that I lost, but I think it's variance and that I am able to beat the game. And if I am not able to do so, I will be using the knowledge I got here to stomp on the NL100 players, because I think that I am improving my game a lot at the moment.

University is going on in the 4th week now, and thought that I would learn harder this semester but of course I don't. People don't change, but I should. I already switched majors once (at first I studied physics) and I cannot afford to fuck it up again.
Anyway, I passed all exams last semester, though my results were rather mediocre.

At Wednesday last week I met PplusAD, another LPer who studies at the same university here, here is the pic, maybe some of you haven't seen it yet, but PplusAD already posted it in his blog.

Training MMA is really fun, I wish I could do it more often, I only train once a week. Maybe next semester I will move to Nürnberg which is much larger than Erlangen and then I can join a club there.

Another thing I sometimes think about:
What can we learn from poker and apply to real life?

- Definitely Tilt-control. I mean tilt is a specific poker term, but it also applies to Real life. I think it's really good when you are always able to keep your coolness and think objectively about a situation instead of freaking out and stuff. Don't let nobody tilt you, no matter what shit happens to you.

- more reasonable thinking about things and persons. Like in poker you always think about what your opponent's cards are and what specific actions mean and tell you about your opponents holdings and intentions. I feel like I do that with other things as well, observing little things and thinking what they mean and what people think about when they do it.

- more responsible relation to money. Yeah, sounds paradox. Now that I make thousands of dollars with online-poker, I could spew around, right? But the reason I am able to win money, is that I respect money. Never would I post a blind out of position or complete the small blind without a good reason to do so. I mean, it's only like $1, but in the long run it adds up and it's definitely -EV. EV is term I also use in my daily thoughts.

Damn, maybe I could have expressed this a little bit better going a little bit more in depth, but it's getting late and I get tired.
