December
Tycho, Dec 31 2008
So my goals for December were:
- Hit 20k
- No more NL400 shots; focus on beating nl200 6max
- Only play when motivated / not tired
- Watching more 6max vids and trying to implement more postflop agression in my game
- Play at least 35k hands
I played 33k hands, but also played some hands that I didn't import with HEM, so thats about right. I took no NL400 shots, and did beat NL200 6max (only a really small margin). I did have the feeling I wasn't running that good. I think this month I only spewed like 2-3 buyins because of tilt, so that's an improvement as well. I didn't watch alot of vids and stuff, and will probably be more inclined to do so next month. That's because next month it's NL400 time.
Below is the graph from this month and below that all my iPoker hands (= almost 3 months). I only played 1 month on FTP before that, so that's about my year. Before September I was really just messing around on not grinding much.

Starting BR for December: 13.3k
Ending BR for December: 18.3k (including rakeback and bonusses)
So, the goals for next month are:
- Play NL400 6max
- Study alot for 2 exams
- No preset # of hands, just play when I feel like it
- Watch alot of vids, maybe do some coaching sessions
So really I'm starting out slowly in 2009, get used to NL400, pass some exams and then put on some serious grinding goals for Februari. Go me!

November Summary
Tycho, Nov 30 2008
Starting BR: 9k (included 800$ won in rakerace October)
Ending BR: 13.3k (included PLO winnings and rakeback)
What went good:
- Played alot of hands
- Read some articles, definately fixed some of my leaks
What went wrong:
- Still not agressive enough postflop in 6max
- Spewed like 5 buyins due to tilt on 6max and lost some more money in stupid calldowns (= easily fixable)
- Too caught up in rakerace November: resulting in playing when tired = losing alot of money
- NL400 shot; got coolered so it's ok though

New goals for December:

- No more NL400 shots; focus on beating nl200 6max

Some Notes to Self
Tycho, Nov 13 2008
- 6max is not a whole other game than HU or FR
- Regulars are just playing their hand ranges, that's all
- Not all 3bet pots belong to you
- Do not get out of line in 3bet pots
- When regulars shove all in in 3bet pots, do NOT call down light
- Do not payoff passive donks who suddenly bet pot on river
- Read this blogpost everyday.

Seems like this month will be yet another epic battle between me the grinder and the iPoker pokerjoker.
October Summary
Tycho, Oct 31 2008
Ok, so October was tough for me. I guess lots of things happened.
- I started the month with 6k.
The first beat came when I transfered my roll from Full Tilt Poker to iPoker through Neteller. I have my Neteller account in euro's (stupid yes I know, but I can't change it) and the conversion costs where 400$ .
- So my BR was 5.6k.
After two weeks I had to let go of my coach, because of a bad run the costs of coaching where becoming a bit too high and I really didn't want to move down. Still, all the coaching cost me approx 600$. I received 800$ rakeback from Full Tilt though, so I kind of managed.
- BR was 5.8k.
Eh I did mention I ran bad, and I really did. But I guess adjusting to iPoker (regulars are more nitty, the fish are more erratic), made me lose another 600$ due to bad calls / useless cbets / bluffs. I had gone through most hand histories and talked about it with my coach and I took a few days break to analyze where it went wrong and get the right mindset again. On iPoker, I get rakeback every week so I barely had a roll for NL200.
- BR was 3.8k.
So after my break I decided I wasn't going to move down, but cut down on tables, let go of my coach, analyze all the biggest losses after every session and steadily add tables because I tend to get bored playing 4 tables. I think now I adjusted to iPoker well, there were multiple situations where I easily folded QQ/AK pf and everytime a hand got to showdown it was KK/AA: most regulars are pretty robotic. So when I got alot of notes on everybody I started loosening up my game again (I played really nitty at first) and found so many spots for squuezes / floats-bluff turns etc. Well to make a long story short, I got out of the hole:

- Current BR 8.2k
I will also receive 800$ from the rakerace of www.ballerpoker.com next month. I will continue to grind NL200 and hopefully have a 'normal' winning month in November and reach 12k. When I hit 12k it'll be NL400 for me and if I drop down to 10k I'll move back.
Goals for November:
- Keep analyzing every session
- At least 30k hands
- Make even more notes on regulars
- Play solidly above everything
- Hit 12k, play NL400, own everyone and ship.
Gl at the tables!

Let this be a turnaround point
Tycho, Oct 12 2008

Because I really need this doomswitch turned off.

A 49/8/3.9 fish obv as I post this flats 30 more pf with 44 oop and flops 884 vs my KK, then slowrolls me till the last second.
Quick September Summary
Tycho, Sep 30 2008
Ok as for my September goals:
- I played 31k hands (I had 20k as a starting goal). Next month I will aim for at least 25k hands and see if I easily make it again.
- I'm being coached now and thus started focusing more on improving my game, which will definately help me move up.
- I made 2.3k - paid 360$ to coach + 800$ in rakeback = 2.7k
- I started September with a BR of 4.3k , now I am at 6.4k (I lost 600$ from playing HU / Tourneys / whatever).
- Still a 50 % increase of BR so I guess I'm happy even though my winrate kind of sucked. I didn't run too well though and I'm sure next month will be better.

October goals:
- Play strictly 6max and really work hard on improving my game
- Stick to NL200 until I have 14k (so probably the entire next month)
- No shots / silly HU sessions / Tournaments
- Work really hard on table selection, try to play as many hours as possible on weekends
Question to people who bothered to read:
I might go and try another site than Full Tilt because I seem to play at times where there are mostly tough tables during mondays - thursdays. So maybe a euro site with lots of traffic and good rakeback, can anyone recommend something?
Thank you for reading and GL at the tables!

True story.

September so far and 6max session
Tycho, Sep 13 2008
So I hit 6k this morning and figured since I'm sticking to my set goals so well I'd play a 6max session (cuz I have 30 buyins now). Hit a horrendous start but manned up and hit the green before stopping (offcourse losing a two pair vs trips 250$ just before I quit).
Some side notes:
- Pay attention to who are the biggest nits. Don't play too much back at them (especially AFTER the flop)
- Start a session conservative and wait until you have some decent stats on people before you start making plays.
- Don't miss thin valuebets on the river.
- 6max is hella more swingy then FR
