Got blazed and tried to go play some 1/2 at the goldstrike here. I had to wait in line for like an hour just to get a seat in one of the 2 NL games going. Some 30ish something guy in a full white sweat suit (rofl?) with matching hat was in line before me and got sat to the right of a older kinda nerdy guy wearing a dirty WSOP white tee and sitting on like 1.8k. Apparently hed been up for 30 hours trying to qualify for a freeroll for players who qualify by getting enough hours in and had started with 150. The sweat suit guy turned out to be some guy who made like 250k on the tourney circuit this year and made a final table of some wsop event that wasnt televised and also won some 250k guarantee cake poker tourney.
I got sat at the other table...for 3 hands....SB BB and button. I was forced to switch with sweat suit because 'hed requested a seat' at my table earlier. Meaning he saw that there was a drunk as fuck super fish seating deep on the table i got onto and prolly didnt like getting sat to the right of the big stack on his current table. Either way i lose as the new guy and got sat to the right of the giant stack. I shoulda just quit then and came back another time....i had a bad feeling.
Although, the feeling i had was that big stackaments was gonna push me around a ton by 3 and 4 betting light. It turns out hes was just some zonked out mega nit who would overbet to 100$+ pre with AA/KK/QQ/AKs. When i figured that out i felt like it might be worth it to stick around. Most of the table was weak passive and very exploitable. Infact, i ended up garnering alot of info from the big stack about alot of the players in the area. Being so chatty with the guy on my left prolly led to me playing bad because i spent about 2 hours breaking even. Good lord i just never hit a damn thing and pretty much bluffed my way to break even poker.
Rhen some maniac guy who limp/called 90% of his hands and then bet like sonuvabitch post flop shows up with like 8 in bills and 4 hundo in chips. I raised light a few times to get iso w/ him knowing hes calling ATC but had some bad shit go down like me A2, him T2, and flop coming 24T and i cbet and get raised and am forced to fold.
The worst hand of the night was me SB with KQs (spades) against a button raise by this older kinda wacky guy to my right. i know im ahead of his range at this point from reads and yet i failed to 3bet him for some reason. I flat and so does a limp caller who had just sat with like 200. Flop comes K83 two clubs, i check (horribly...notice a pattern of fail here?), new guy limp caller checks, and button cbets it to some standard amount. I check raise about 3/4 of my stack which is just about 3x and get SNAP CALLED by limp caller. Turn is a Q of clubs and i ship the rest hoping im ahead some how. River is a blank club but it didnt matter cause he had K7 of clubs so i was busto.
I rebuy for 2 hundo and punt a shit ton of it when i pick up a decent hand but whiff the flop and it hits everyone else like its a pot of fucking gold under the rainbow. I try to convince ppl to flip for my last 80$ or so for ten mins. I got no takers. I end up just shipping AJ vs 99 pre vs some londoner and punt the rest. w/e...part card dead...part tilt...part wtf ever. As soon as i got moved i knew it wasnt gonna work out. I think ill trust that instinct next time.
Tonight i played some 20$ rebuy event and i swear to god, ive seen better structures at house games. Shit shoulda been allinaments by level 3 if u didnt double buy from the beginning. Obviously everyone played weak tightish and it was real easy to pick up alot of chips from blinds and antes w/o having to even see a flop. In fact, i should have been opening more pots but the nit in me kept me from doing optimally i think.
Either way, I found myself in a few weird situations. One was a social thing and one was a poker deal. The social thing took place when I was utg+1 or something and mucked an A3o. Two players ended up all in and one showed AKs and the other showed AQo. I casually mentioned after the cards were turned up that I had mucked an A. Then, this loud senior from the 1/2 game at the gold strike told me to never mention what i folded if he was in an all in hand because he finds it rude. And that he would consider reaching across the table and slapping that person in the face if they did so. I just gave him a weird look, brushed him off, and mentioned that his reaction was a bit overboard. He then said that he wouldnt be surprised if I took offense to his comment and whooped his ass in turn. WTF? I guess I gave him the evil eye when he chirped. I dunno. He ended up being all friendly to me in passing during a break. DOUBLE WTF.
The poker situation was me in the BB with Q7o. A shorty utg shipped for like 3k on top of my 2k BB. He got snap called by a guy sitting with about 2/3 of my stack in mid pos. Its folded to me in the BB and for some reason i took a lot more time to call then i usually take for (to me) obvious decisions. The board comes 735 rainbow and I (again with the fail) check. The mid position guy then overbet ships like 20k and I fold. He shows ATs and wins vs K6. Wtf...i felt like i butchered the shit out of the hand. I even put him on a bluff for a second then still folded...wtf. a;sldkjas;dklj. I just didnt see betting into the dry side pot with nothing.
Didnt turn out all that bad. I ended up finishing 5th for like a hundo so I made the money but just barely. Busted shipping a shorty w/ A4o vs a BB's 97o. Cheers. Also, I got over charged at a memphis boozery for a 6 pack of sierra nevada celebration ale and thats not cool.
Tunica casino poker
WastedGate, Dec 08 2009
So I finally got to my new apt in tunica where I will be staying while going to tournament dealer school. Got to play casino poker for once. Found a 1/3 game that was five handed till I showed up. Everyone one was sitting on around 100-175 except for some fat redneck guy wearin 80s multicolor mirrored shades. He was sitting on 250 or so. He was to my left so I avoided him. He whined when I'd raise on his button and 3bet me one time and that was it.
I had a fun time chipping up quickly pretty lagish for the most part. I'd never felt quite so confident while bluffing as I did tonight. It was a fuckin blast. This poor stuttering fish didn't give me credit for a single hand after I bet a draw ealy for a medium pot. This worked out great since every hand that I got into with him from that point on involved me having him crushed and stacked him.
Some old rich looking guy sat down later with a "Nickel" in five tall stacks of five dollar chips and proceded to nit it up the whole time. He'd limp call then check fold...a lot. He asked me to chop a medium sized pot that he had hit mid pair and I had an oesd. I obliged which was prolly -ev short term but I'm hoping it pays off later somehow.
Big hand of the night inolved the tilted stutter guy and another rich guy. The two of them were two seats to my right. Tilty bumps it to 13 and gets a snap call from rich. I wake up with QQ and make it 58 from the cutoff. They both call. Flop comes Q75 rainbow and tilty bets like 45. Richy flats and I start spamming the bet pot button on the felt and make it 185 or something and get called by both of them. Turn comes a T and tilty ships his last 20 or so dollars and then richy calls and I ship another hundo on top of that..rich guy tanks and folds...lol. River is blank and tilty shows TT for an under set to my queens and goes busto by my hands for the 2nd time. Ship the monster pot and I left 30 minutes later with 585 after losing decent pot AK

Starting off...kinda
WastedGate, Oct 13 2009
Made my first 'real' deposit (not counting 50$ one time like a year ago that I used to donk off slowly) and have been running 3bb/pt over like 10k hands on FTP NL25 FR. I ran sick hot for the first few sessions but have leveled off since. Im starting to make better folds and am getting reads and trustworthy notes on a lot of players. Im sticking to 2 and 4 tabling for now since my robot poker 9+ table mode is a losing proposition right now. The first 50$ I donked off before was used to robot mode NL2 since it was so tilting trying to play cheeseburgers. W/e live learn abahlbhllhabhlab
Ive also been making some MTT days and am playing a bunch of the 5.50r, 3.30r, Daily Double, and Midnight Madness tourneys. Im cashing prolly 75% of the time but I keep running into a bad beat/cooler when I get deep and havent made a final table yet. I also cashed 3 out of the 5 Mini FTOPS events I played last go around but made a few bad moves deep and missed out on big money. I hope to pepper the tourney performances thread with a few take downs soon.
Im debating whether its worth it right now to buy HEM or PT3 while playing these limits. Also feeling pretty dumb that I didnt make a rakeback account when I first started.
Oh yeah!
Im leaving for dealer school in Tunica around the first week of November. Ill be going to the Casino College of MS thats next to the Harrah's (i think). I dont really NEED the school seeing as Ive been dealing on and off for a local bar poker league for a few years now. It was actually decent money for a second job at night. Plus I got a ton of live practice in before I starting playing the live 1/2, 2/2 games out in ATL. I have a few friends that deal the WPT/WSOP tourney circuit right now and theyve been urging me to give the professional thing a try since Im still out of school (going on like 2 years now!!! ARGH!!!). I also happen to be an excellent dealer. Im just really hoping that this little certificate I get and the job placement programs they have will help me score a job fast. Im hoping to get a gig in vegas, san diego, or foxwoods after Im done with their program but that is sounding like a long shot. The guy who owns the place was telling me my best bet might be the tourney circuit but we'll see. Anyway, if any of you LPer's are in the Tunica area and want to grab some drinks and/or help me take down some rednecks on the felt feel free to give me a PM. Woteva...jakey's...yellow shirts, etc.
