If I leave a tournament...
  TheHuHu, Mar 29 2008

If I exit out of Stars while in a tourney, can I log back in at a different computer about 15-20 min later and still be able to play (given that I have a big enough stack not to get blinded down)?

Another live tourney win.
  TheHuHu, Mar 25 2008

This time there was a little over 70 entrants, same $100+15 buy-in. Tourney took about six hours and took home $2,850 for first. Everyone at the FT gets paid, which is 10 players.

Noteable hands :

Right before the FT I had roughly 32 (Chip lead) BB at 400/800/100 blinds. UTG+1 with 15 or so BB stack donkey limps as he has done every hand and it's fold to me in the SB. I look down at Ah5s and complete and BB checks. Flop comes 922 with two hearts and it's checked to UTG Donk and he bets pot. I've seen him overbet pot to steal every time it's checked to him and I don't put him on a credible hand at all so I call and BB folds. Pot is at now around 8-9k+ and turn comes 4. I check and he shoves for the rest of his stack which is a big ass overbet and it just didn't make sense why he would do that. When I did see him value bet he bets 2-3 BB each street and shows down TP almost every time. After a long ass time in the tank the only hand I put him on was a flushdraw and definitely nothing more because of his past plays. I called after about four minutes and he flipped over J8 of hearts and river came a 3c giving me the straight and sent him packing home which gave me a huge dominating chip lead like 4:1 to the second place in chips. At this point it was just cruise control to the FT.

Last really notable and sorta funny hand was at the FT where I looked at AA UTG after a few orbits at 700/1500/200 blinds and I had a bunch of $1K blue chips and no one else did and when I was stacking my chips a few blue went into my $500 chips so I take a stack of 10 chips, which I thought was all $500 to raise and just slid it into the middle but four blue chips was at the bottom and it was too late to take it back because it crossed the line so it was a raise to like $7,000 and players two down from me when all-in with around 9BBs, folded to button who goes all in for around 15 BBs and back to me. I obv call and shorty donk had QKo and button had JJ and ship it to me as they both missed and now I have Jamie Gold + Jerry Yang chip stack and after a few more players bust out leaving four left including me, they made another deal that I get first and they chip the rest.

Going back tonight as this is the last deep-stack tourney this has which mega sucks... Tomorrow I'll be going to the Grand Sierra Resort and rail the main event for a bit... I saw Vanessa Rousso (woof ) and Chad Brown there the other day, which is really my first actual "celebrity" sighting so that was cool. Oh yeah, I saw Michael Binger ( I THINK) when I went to the bathroom... he was walking out playing with his phone with an iPod on and we made eye contact and I think he realized I recognized him... Very zen moment .

Live tournament strategy.
  TheHuHu, Mar 22 2008

I'll be playing at a local casino again tonight and we'll start with 3,500 chips with blinds starting at 25/25 with 20-minute increases. I'll be playing lots of pots tonight with lots of limping with connectors or 1 gappers... I played last night and I waited only for premium cards like pairs or AJ+ and it just didn't do well enough vs all the limpers... So hopefully this strategy will work.

WSOP Main Event - Pokerstars.
  TheHuHu, Mar 20 2008

The world's largest online poker site, PokerStars, has announced the launch of their World Series of Poker (WSOP) satellite tournaments, where, unlike other sites who are only offering only 150 main event seats and assorted freeroll entries, they will again send over 1,000 players to the WSOP's main event, and offer poker players the chance to win prize packages worth $12,500.

CASH BONUSES FOR TOP FINISHES

And that's not all. PokerStars qualifiers who make it to the final table at the WSOP Main Event will win an automatic cash bonus:
# A cool MILLION for bringing home the Main Event's first place trophy.
# $400,000 for finishing in Second place
# $300,000 for finishing in Third place
# $200,000 for finishing in Fourth-Fifth place
# $100,000 for finishing in Sixth to Ninth place

Cash bonuses of up to $50,000 also are available if a sponsored player makes it to a WSOP "TV table."

"If I didn't win a $39 satellite on PokerStars, I would have been on the sidelines at the 2003 WSOP," said Chris Moneymaker, who rode his PokerStars prize to victory in the Main Event.

"This year's prize package is even more incredible and the prize pool is set to be its biggest yet," he added.

Registered users can test their skills to win a ticket to the "Big Dance" for free, at PokerStars.net.

The full prize package also includes:
# $10,000 Main Event buy-in
# $2,500 for expenses
# Free hotel accommodations at the Palms for eight nights
# Hotel suite upgrades for Supernova and Supernova Elite VIP members

Holy fuck, once semester is over I am going to play every fucking satellite for this shit. I never knew Pokerstars pays for all hotel accommodations because I thought the $2,500 was for that. Nice!!!!

Live tourney #1.
  TheHuHu, Mar 20 2008

$230 MTT at local casino. Two key hands. I had A8 on a A8K all spade board. I bet 2/3 pot, donkey overbet shoves with QJo but with the J of spades. Obviously the T comes on turn and I'm down to 6 big blinds at 25/50. I build my stack up to 900 and now blinds are 50/100. UTG idiot (really bad player) raises 4x and I look down at 99 in the C/O and shove. He calls obv and has AJo. Flop is T82 and I'm like fuck yeah. Turn is a J and river is a J. Fuck him.

I'm happy with my play obv but it's frustrating as fuck.

Love tourney hope.
  TheHuHu, Mar 20 2008

I am looking at the results of the poker tourneys that a local casino is hosting (also will be hosting $7,500 WPT tourney at the end of the month) and for the last three days, the SAME person has taken first for all three tournies ranging from buy-ins of $200-$300 with average of 100 entrants. Now, no one can run this good because it's so unlikely, my only assumption is that these players suck.

Live tourneys.
  TheHuHu, Mar 19 2008

Well, tomorrow is my last day of school before spring break and I will definitely be playing as many live tourneys as I can because almost every casino in Reno has a March special, either the Grand Sierra Resort (which is hosting WPT tournies all month) and the Peppermill is having deep-stack tournies, which I took down first last week. Depending on how I do this weekend, I may play in the $300+$30 tourney the Grand Sierra is hosting, and if I do well in that, I'll play the $500 satellite to get into the $7,500 WPT tournament.
