Scrapbook part 2
  0x64, Jan 18 2007

This time while peddling for the nuts, I decided to focus on one idea and see what paint allows me to put while pokerstars jump and block my view.
While drawing this, I folded approximatly 2 quads, 1 straigh flush and called down with what I though to be my first suited pocket rockets.

Anyway enough talking, here is the masterpiece.
Like the previous artwork, this one feature color (yellow :O!!)
Notice also how this pict is about omaha hi/lo and since SS2 contains some insight on the game.
Also dont ask me why the guy is dressed like a monk and probably has no internet. Thats how his life is.

Virtual wanking
  0x64, Jan 17 2007

My curve is down and thanks for helping me arouse my e-penis again

And for those who didn't get the joke

Poker is +-0 but who cares?

I'm thinking about making a bad beat friday blog post.
12 tabling nl5, just nutpeddling but everytime I have K3, I go allin and cry when they beat me and watch them cry when their Doyle's don't hold.

Anyway I'm starting here a little feature which I call nutpeddler's scrapbook.
It's random art done while waiting for the nuts to come!

This one features a buttersnail, just like a butterfly but you'd wish those didn't fly.
A sad duck, a turtle with pooping problems, a fish, a whale, some rocks, some staring eyes ! gagagaga

The rake back in pokerstars is good?
  0x64, Jan 14 2007

Out of curiosity I've gone through a lot of calculation around FPP, VPP and FPP store items.
First of all, I play Pot limit 50$.
Until recently I also played pl25.
Rake payed / hand
pl25: 1.9 cent
pl50: 2.2 cent

I pay around 15% more rake. How does that reflect within the earning of fpp.
Simple. In pl25 I played a lot of pot where the limit of getting a VPP was almost reached.
How big is the difference then?
While in pl25 you will get around 0.2 VPP / hand, you will get 0.4 vpp / hand in pl50.
Now comes the big surprise for me. those numbers were hard to believe for me.
I had in my current database 4400 hands of pl50, and I had payed 100$ of rake. I am platinumstar -> I get 1 FPP / hand.
Items in the store are prized with an approximated price of 60 FPP for 1 $.
4400 FPP / 60 = 73$
I say hello hello !
73% of rakeback for me.
Now I must say I have my doubt and this sounds seriously too good to be true. Maybe pokertracker doesnt count the rakeback correctly.
Or Because I play very tight (tighest player in my database with significant amount of hands)
Yes omaha 8 is about hand selection.
I end up getting FPP from the rake payed by other players, and paying much less rake because I play less pots and win on those a lot.

Now lets get an item in the FPP store. (this is for europeans).
The good thing about the value of that item, is that usually the price of an item in the USA in $ is the price of that item in € here in europe. That means... 20-30% more resell value. Is that because of 20% taxes here or something, doesnt matter.

Now there is another game for supernovae I have found out.
Take 9 supernovae, take a low limit table.
Play by making 8 $ pots.
9*3.5 fpp = 31.5 fpp for the table, payed rake = 0.40$
78.75 fpp / $ when you can get items for 60 fpp/ $
130% rakeback?
I suggest not doing this because you risk to get banned but the possibility exist and basicly you will get 100% rake back as a supernova without optimisation.
The question I'd like to ask to pokerstars is the following.
Since serious poker player play trying to reach optimal play. When the optimal play for the table is to make 8$ pots why wouldnt they do that?
Anyway, I guess they still trust that supernovae are playing higher limits and they dont have that concern.
But this year, the amount of supernovae will be much higher?
Should we predict a change in the policy or do you think proportionally supernova will be always a small core of the players who will be in a way sponsored by casual players

[O8] AA3x out of position
  0x64, Jan 14 2007

Let's see what's up in this hand.
Preflop raise indicate a correct hand.
Raiser is early position, range set to AAxx or A23x or A2 and good stuff.
I will be ahead against any of those hand exept AA2x, which would go allin preflop.
Most of the time AAxx even a bad one will go allin and thats not likely here.
So we can safely say he has A2xx, even A23x will want a call here.
Now the only question on the flop that remains is: "Does he has the 7?"
To this question, assuming the player is good, there is no 7. A237 is limp early position. Every hand exept AA23 would be limp EP. Since the range of hands of a good player doesnt have the seven and no AA, its is safe to push a good player.
Now assuming this was a fish trying to get lucky, he will call with his A2 low draw.

End of discussion, Thanks to Travis for the explanation.

[O8]Don't draw your two pairs
  0x64, Jan 13 2007

Preflop, there ain't any monsterhands.
Ray Zee says in his book on omaha hi/lo that raising preflop don't increase your winning rate, only your variance.
Raising is mostly done for position or getting your pot heads-up.
This leads to a special way to play Good aces. Basicly unless I am on the button, I will limp with aces hoping someone will raise it on which I can reraise and easily get headsup.
However the exeption on this is the Monster hand of omaha8, AA23 dual suited which hold well enough that I do want as many players in the pot I can have.

Good hands where I have A23x can be frustrating. So when you get a A23x and flop two pairs, just remember I has no reason to be good unless you are also drawing for the nut lo.

Since I can't post more than one hand history, you will have to use the link
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/131112
This is the kind of hand which troubles me easily.
I know that Im ahead on the hi, but Im not +ev here unless I make him fold.
Pushing this? Maybe not the best thing to do until I know what that opponent can call.

For you, Pokerstar sng player.
  0x64, Jan 12 2007

During last year, I was playing mass turbo SNGs.
I wrote a little java software to keep track of my sng results.
Liquid'meat kindly accept to host it here.
This is very basic.
It will give you a quick view of:
-Net winning
-ROI % (Return on investment)
-Winning graph
-Payed rake
-Rank chart

And you can save the graph to a jpg file to share your result with your friends.

Download it here!

You need the latest java runtime environment to run it, if you dont have it.
Get it here!

A little bit of history
  0x64, Jan 12 2007

I started to play omaha8 about one year ago.
I had deposited 50$ on pokerstars to play 1$ sng's. Holdem was not paying of, not losing, not winning.
Tried also some ring games and it brought me up to 100$.
And that's when I entered my first o8 turbo 3.4$ SNG.
And I won, I had absolutly no clue about the game, but somehow I won.
I played another one, and won. And won and won... Soon I was up 100$. Next day the same happened.
So this is how I picked up the game.
After thinking about why I won, the simple reason was that I didn't understood the game much so I pushed every hand which seemed good. And since most of the time you are at worst 40/60 dog. Fold equity did allow me to win with some luck too over those weak tigh player who would fold even when the BB is half of their stack.
After this I played over 1000 sngs to get to SILVERSTAR.
And realised that it was useless. Finally I stopped poker around february with around 800$.
What stopped me was that after the huge run over those sng's. I simply wasnt winning anymore, my roll was deep enough to stand any downswing possible at those limit. 200 buy-in was pretty safe :D.

Introduction
  0x64, Jan 09 2007

I started playing seriously omaha hi/lo ring games with 200$ from a friend with a not-so-good deal that when I reach 1000$ I give him 600$ and keep 400$.
This was achieved after 2 weeks, playing pl25 and pl50.
Buying along the way pokertracker.
Now the new year has begin, I am Platinumstar and I had my roll up to 1500$.
I did give a try then short handed pl100. Went down 2 buyins.
Went back to pl50$ and kept losing.
Now I am currently back to 1000$ and playing pl25$.
I have already 5000vpp for this month so I have played quite a lot.

Playing as a platinumstar provides around 20% of rakeback on the biggest pots, and almost 100% rake back on pots which reach the vpp limit of 8$.

Yesterday I ordered the 80gig iPod video, which I plan to give to a friend so he can resell it in his little tropical island where the price of the thing is twice the price you can get it in the USA.

Omaha hi/lo is growing fast on pokerstars and I hope I can keep 12-tabling higher and higher !

My goals for the year is to reach supernova and eventually this summer try to grind my living from poker.
