Heading towards break even
Tycho, Sep 07 2008
Hm 5k hands so far and winrate of 2.10bb / 100 . Well still a really small sample and didn't run particularly well.
- Note to self: when the session gets a bit long and I'm checking too many sites etc (not paying full attention to poker), JUST QUIT FOR A FEW HOURS!!!!
Started session with 2 coolers (AKs vs AA, got it in on Axx flop and some other hand), so went -400$, then got it up to +150$ finally after like 1500 hands, then lost concentration and fucked up some hands, thus ending down 200$. Blugh, probably gonna do some handreading, but I still think its just a bit of a tough run.

Graph so far for September (yes I play little amounts of hands)

Small session
Tycho, Sep 04 2008
So played another session, started out +400$ pretty quick, then went up and down for the next 1000 hands (losing KK vs TT pf AI three times :s ) , then last two hands I give away 100$ with TT on a J86hh board and lose 100$ more on KK vs AA. So wasn't the most satisfying session but at least I didn't lose.

Cooler session
Tycho, Sep 02 2008
So started the session with -300$ in like 50 hands, get it up to +100$ after 500 hands, then proceed to lose AA vs AKs, and then this hand happened. Too bad. Opponnent and I had some history so folding wasnt an option, still sucks because minraise flop / pot turn pretty much means only one thing. Might have folded it if the session was going a bit better.

New Gameplan
Tycho, Sep 01 2008
Sup, it's been a long while since I posted, but I'm trying to get myself more motivated and do a small write up after every day / significant session. I haven't been playing poker much at all, cashing out 3k in the past 6 months and maybe playing like 5 - 10k hands per month. Which leaves me with a 5.5k BR.
Main reasons for not playing poker are spending alot of time with girl(friend)s, but I'm single now so hopefully for poker I can keep that up . Also been mainly partying and hanging out ALOT, and I really feel like I should do some serious stuff again. So I started rowing again on a high level (training around 8 times a week) and study more. And obviously going to try to become a NL400 6max regular finally and not run bad / crumble under pressure / tilt while moving up.
So, here are my goals:
- Play FR with minumum of 20 buyins, 6max minimum 30 buyins, HU minimum 40 buyins.
- Update blog
- Don't cash out till next July
- Play 20k + hands per month
Shouldn't be too hard to keep this up, FR has always been good to me, so starting with that till I hit like 7k. Then just choose FR / 6max NL200 whatever I feel like playing. And occasionaly play 1 - 2 tables HU, which I really enjoy and seem to be a good winner in it (sample of like 10k hands so maybe just a good run).
Anyway, to start off my good goals, here is the first small FR session I just played.

Major 6max leaks?

I should probably find some coaching.

Hello June!
Tycho, Jun 01 2007
So May sucked, ended -1k$ over 27k hands. Good thing is I did order a chip set and 20 inch monitor from PS FPP store.
Hoping to do better next month. Two months in a row no profit = me going to move my roll over to other sites to collect some bonusses etc. Lets just hope I get a nice heater going though and head on to NL400 soon.
BR = ~ 11.5k
First Depressing Downswing
Tycho, May 21 2007
Pokerstars doesn't want me back at all . I went up $1200 on NL200 running 7BB / 100 Hands. Then went up to NL400 because I have the roll for it and was playing good. One sick session full of set ups and bad beats later I returned to NL200. I figured I just wait till I hit a good session and move up again while I'm playing confident and running decent.
Normally after a few sessions things go better, but now I can't seem to get a winning session going, even while I feel like I am playing good. It's not that my BR can't handle it, but losing while playing just plain sucks. If this continues, I'll probably search for some baller to help me out.
Vent:

Some examples about hands you always lose when running bad:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197117 --> standard
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197119 --> couldve gotten away if i hadn't value bet river, but it's absurd nevertheless
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/197122 --> anyone slow down on river?
Well not going to post any more of em, I hope I can post a brag post again in a few weeks. Wish me luck!
Sick heater + PS welcomes me back
Tycho, Apr 26 2007
Yo,
so I've been having a good poker week. Only 2 break even days, all the other days I ran well. It resulted in me trampling the NL200 on UB and I finished of the remains of my deposit bonus playing NL400 cuz I was running good and playing confident. That last 600 hands on NL400 where like REALLY sick, as in me getting aces / kings like 12 times and hitting sets here and there. Eventually I got lots of action and went up another $1000.
I also got my new biggest pot ever:

So I'm away from UB and decided to move back to PokerStars! I decided not to go with Party because of hearing stories about Party gaining many regulars, and besides that the software is damn ugly. So back to home sweet home.
Pokerstars was glad to have me back from my bonus - whoring vacation @ FTP and UB and granted me a really nice first session on NL200 6max:

Looking forward to playing with all the PS people, already had FGators (known as the 2+2 fish on this forums) at one of my tables so I hope to stack him many times for the honor of LP.net!

Beating NL200
Tycho, Apr 19 2007
Sup people.
So I decided to look back at my poker career:
Aug 2006 - Started playing (3$ Turbo SNG's, $4 MTT SNG) BR: ~ $50
Sep 2006 - Won a $4 MTT (6.50$ Turbo SNG's, $4 MTT SNG) BR: ~ $300
Okt 2006 - Starting cash games (NL10, NL25) BR: ~ $600
Nov 2006 - (NL50) BR: ~ $1000
Dec 2006 - (NL50) BR: ~ $2000
Jan 2007 - (NL50) BR: ~ $3000
Feb 2007 - (NL100) BR: ~ $4000
March 2007 - (NL100) BR: ~ $5000
19 April 2007 - (NL200) BR: $9000
After a tough time moving up to NL100 in Jan - Feb, I heatered through NL100 in like a week in the end of march (+16 buy ins in 3 days on UB was sick). So now I'm playing NL200 on UB and playing pretty confident and most importantly, patient.
The biggest thing that has helped me get to here is not having the need to cash out in between. I row six times a week this year (made it into the squad through selection progress), which resulted in me not drinking alcohol and going to bed early etc. Which then resulted in me having very little living expences and just slowly building my roll in peace .
I also play shorter hand sessions because of my frequent rowing, which allows me to hardly tilt and just leave when I'm not playing my A-game without caring too much. I see all the threads about 'How long to play' and I just think you should ONLY play when you feel like you play your A - game. Playing long sessions (+ 3,5 hours) is mentally tough and I for one am not up to it yet.
I think I may fold too much, but I don't think it's hurting my profit, and it results in people taking pretty big stabs at me when I check to them in big pots or even raising me more with their marginal hands.
Almost cleared the UB bonus, and I think I'll move to party to see if all the stories about the many many fish there are true.
Here are some hands I posted on LP.net from my NL200 sessions:

Finally learning some real poker
Tycho, Apr 06 2007
So I've played around enough on Omaha / Omaha Hi-Lo / Stud etc cash games and tourneys and said goodbye to full ring, and I'm never going back.
I think I've played around 40k 6max hands now, mostly on NL50 and NL100. I ran good most of the time and my BR went from 3.5k to 6k in like 1,5 week. I find it pretty sick, variance will probably kick in alot harder on 6max, but I love playing more hands and keep pounding on fish in position.
So I'm giving NL200 some shots now, moving down back to NL100 when I lose a few buy ins. I know I'm overrolled for NL100, but I feel I've played so little hands there that I'm not ready for bad runs on NL200. So when I'm running good, I'll continue playing NL200 6max, and while running bad, NL100. Sounds pretty solid in theory.
I hate the UB hand history software (HH's keep closing themselves etc etc), so I don't have a nice graph or stats, I'll just finish off with my biggest pot in my (short) poker career!
