movin on up
  Ftrunkz, Apr 22 2008

woo, nl25 here i come =). after my mega downswing about 3 weeks ago i banned myself from stars for a week. I've now made up almost all my losses in 9 days and I'm back at NL25 now. it feels good to have some consistency about my game, and hopefully i ride the heater for a while at NL25 too... =)

and since there's so many hilariously awesome songs from the 80's and 90's with the words "move on up" I'm going to finish every move up post with one of them, hopefully i run out before my poker career is over =)

Back from break!
  Ftrunkz, Apr 13 2008

well the week break was really good for me i think, i came back last night and today actually wanting to play poker rather then doing it for something to fill the time. I ran really really good over todays session (20bb/100) and felt pretty happy with the way i played over all.

It's a healthy boost to both my BR and, more importantly, my confidence ^^.I'm back over the $300 mark and hopefully i keep running well and make it back up to NL25 in no time :D

Taking a break...
  Ftrunkz, Apr 08 2008

well, i still wasn't beating NL10 by last Sunday, so Sunday night i banned myself from stars for a week as i felt my play was starting to go from losing from beats to losing from tilt and other things. It's less then half way through and I'm already feeling the urge to come back and become a winning player just from reading thru LP and watching vids etc. Hopefully I'll come back nice, motivated and running sick :D.

Micro player need help desperately.
  Ftrunkz, Apr 04 2008

Okay, I'm going to say it right off the get go, this post will be insane, and i highly doubt to get many people, or maybe even no one that will read the whole thing. But I would really appreciate if one of the middle/high stake players read it and gave me some advice.

I'll start off with graphs. These are my graphs of NL25 and NL10 since winning the $400 in the tourny to get me rolled for NL25.

Around hand 5,000 is where i dropped back to NL10.
Here are my stats for the two levels:

Yeah... so basically you can see what has happened. I'm sure the swing was to do with running VERY bad, but the flatlining for 5k or so hands at NL10, I'm sure, can atleast be contributed somewhat to me played like a sped.... So i'm going to post a ton of hands here, and hopefully in some of them you can point out if i could've saved money, earned money, etc. etc.

(edited in spoilers)
Hand 1: + Show Spoiler +

Hand 2: This ones a really common situation for me with AK, anything wrong about my play here?

Hand 3:

Hand 4: Do i call this river? do i fold earlier in the hand at some point?

Hand 5:

Hand 6: Combo draw played wrong?

I think a lot of the hands are coolerish, but i refrained from posting any hands where my money went in good and i just got an obvious suckout or pre-flop allins with QQ+ in which i lose.

Once again, any ammount of help would be appreciated.

First day at NL25.
  Ftrunkz, Mar 28 2008

Well after last nights freak tournament place, it was time to see whether i not i could cut it at NL25. I 4-tabled with lots of breaks throughout the day, and don't think i did too badly.

I've decided... I should just muck KK preflop, this hand haunted me throughout NL5, and it seems like the curse is following me. I only had 3 coolers/beats throughout the day, and all three came thanks to the piece of shit.

Read spoilers for boring coolers etc.
+ Show Spoiler +

This one i havn't put in there because, obviously, i had a choice and may have been ahead. Anyone playing this one any differently then i did? After the turn i figured im not even beating half the hands he's bluffing with on the flop.
+ Show Spoiler +

Those hands aside, i feel i played pretty well. It was fun sitting at tables where the avg VPIP wasn't 40+, as a result, i could finally start playing a bit looser!
Some of the winning hands that i think are at least a bit interesting (feel free to critique, most of the loosy goosy plays were with reads.)

+ Show Spoiler +

Overall it was pretty fun. I think i went a little overboard towards the end trying to out-play people, but i still picked my spots relatively carefully, and never went hugely broke on a stupid 3-barrel. Hopefully i can comeback tomorrow and do the same, even if i just break even or lose money, i learned a LOT today just in the couple of thousand hands i played, and even ran into some LP'ers who were nice enough to bully the crap out of me with constant 3-bets and pushing over my c-bets when i would call them.

2nd in $12/180 turbo!
  Ftrunkz, Mar 27 2008

Well, i came home tonight feeling like an emo after being a mates house, and decided I'd cure my woes by playing a quick turbo tourney for 10% of my bankroll for something to do before i went to bed... I've never ran so ridiculously good so far in my poker experience!

Obviously I'm going to get called a degenerate idiot for having such stupid BR Management... But hey, I'm sure everyone got out of line once in a while, and i definitely wont be doing this now that I'm actually rolled for tournies that seem a decent amount of money in my mind (rather then $1-$3 donkaments.) Either way, this is obviously a huge boost to my BR. I'm pretty happy right now, and that emo feeling is definitely gone .

My sharkscope graph also looks pretty friggin hilarious right now too:

PLO is awesome!! ^^
  Ftrunkz, Mar 24 2008

so last night, im getting a bit bored and tired after i decided i wouldnt play any more cash for the night after spewing a bit, so i was looking around team liquid and found the post about stinger's graph... So i figured i'd open 4 tables PLO and see how i went...

my god. Obviously a disgusting heater, and I'm not sure if I can even beat the game yet...
Anyway, enough brag, just wondering, are those stats there normal of a PLO 6-max player? too lose? too tight? I seem to limp a lot from the sb getting sucked in, which i know is bad in hold'm, but im not quite sure if it's as bad in PLO?

Also wondering if many other people on LP play much PLO. I'm pretty interested in learning it a lot more, it seems really fun (obviously anything would when you're running this sick tho) and a good change from NL.

Finally a hot run! :D
  Ftrunkz, Mar 20 2008

Anyway, i finally had a ridiculous heater where i didn't get any ridiculous 200bb coolers, and since my latest blog posts have been emo as hell, thought i'd post a happy one. Here's the graph from tonights session:

I dropped my roll from $200ish all the way down to $50 at one stage, and a mate staked me $50, with us agreeing that with every $10 interval after $110, i'd send him $10 up to $200. (so when i hit $120, i sent him $10, then when i hit $130, i sent him $10.) My BR's currently sitting on $140 with the stake paid up to the $150 level. Hopefully i keep running well and pay him back + reach NL10 by the end of the easter holidays! (2 weeks from now).

Also, if theres anything whack looking about my stats (my PFR isnt there, but thats at 17.41) please let me know

LOTS of NL5 hands!
  Ftrunkz, Mar 14 2008

WARNING: big ass boring post.

Well, basically, I've been stuck for a while at NL5 after being easily rolled for NL10 at one stage, the biggest part of this was me playing too many tournaments and sng's with only like 20 bi's, trying to 15 table $3.4 turbo's etc... But lately i've been struggling to beat NL5 due to ridiculous coolers and general spewing after them, but im posting a whole bunch of hands here that i would like to see opinions on (not the obvious coolers), Me not beating NL5 has a lot to do with leaks in my game, regardless of how bad I'm currently running, and I'd like anyone who has the time to have a look at these and let me know any changes i could make, I'll also post my reasoning during the hand, and anything i picked up after reviewing the hand myself.

HAND 1:
Ideas while playing: Pre-flop is pretty standard i think. My flop bet is probably a tiny bit small in comparison, i could've probably jacked it up to 90c-$1 range as i try to keep my bets on the flop around 2/3-3/4 range, his call-check line is usually showing a draw or a monster at these stakes i think, so i bet out again at the turn and get flatted, leading me to think he's probably on a draw, when the river comes a blank, i figure i probably have the best hand and put his last $1.05c into the pot.

After reviewing: I think this is standardish... I think i didnt take into account enough the idea of him having AsXs so him hitting the ace was probably higher then i gave him credit for, even tho he did check it to me.

HAND 2:

Ideas while playing: Basically, this whole hand i am pretty confused about whether i played it right on ANY street. PF, the call was probably sloppy, we were both deep so i used that to justify the call at the time figuring i'd get it in if i hit a set and gtfo if i didn't. When the flop came down, as soon as i saw it i thought i had hit the jackpot, but after betting i realized i'm not actually ahead of some of the hands that are likely holdings of his (aa/kk obv.) and he's probably letting everything else go but AK. So on the turn and river i bet out with the intention of getting his stack in and thinking it was just a cooler if he had aces or kings on me.

Nothing in my thinking has really changed after the hand, But i am interested in comments on it whether its an obvious fold pf or not.

HAND 3:

Thoughts: This hand was tricky, pretty standard pre-flop/flop, on the turn obviously things changed, when he raises on the turn, can i ever fold here? I figure i'm beating KQ, and thats about it in terms of holdings he would do this logically with.

HAND 4:

Thoughts: In the hand my thought process was pretty 1 dimensional, not thinking enough about players acting behind me and players having me drawing virtually dead. PF was standard i think, on the flop when he leads out for 50c, i instinctively calling thinking i've easily got odds to draw to my 2nd nut flush. When the player behind me moves in and gets called, my thought process was any heart or either of the 2 queens probably saves me in this pot, and i probably have the odds to call here. Was my line of thinking absolutely stupid for any reason here, or was my maths a bit off and i didn't have odds?
