Hey,

I'd like to thank everyone who donated to help Marina get to China for treatment. We got $340 + 48 euro. I made a deposit of R$612 into her account ($1 = R$1,80). The 48 euros were donated after I made the deposit, so I'm going to deposit that later.

Her parents have 31% of the money Marina needs now =]

OK, this is the last bump. I first posted this yesterday, so I'm reposting for the 2nd and last time. So far we have $290. Thank you to all who donated or had some nice words.

Hi,

I come to you all today in an attempt to help a friend. He's a musician from my hometown, and her wife gave birth to twin girls four years ago. Unfortunately one of the girls, Marina, had an infection in the hospital which caused a respiratory arrest. As a consequence of that, nowadays she has cerebral palsy, a disease which prevents her from doing basic things that any normal child should be able to do on her own, like sitting, eating, among other things which I'm unaware of.

Now they are trying to take little Marina to China, to have her treated with stem-cells. The treatment is very expensive ($40,000) and way out of their pockets, so they are making some kind of campaign to raise funds to try to give their daughter a better life. The treatment will take place in an institution named Beike Biotech in China (http://www.beikebiotech.com), and here is Marina's certificate of acceptance , meaning she got accepted for the treatment. Marina has a blog which keeps us updated on what's going on with the campaign. Right now they have 25% of the money and are trying to make some events to raise more money. Yesterday they hosted a beneficiary dinner, for example.

Local newspapers and TV shows are also helping them, as you can see in the spoiler below:

I know everyone has their own problems to worry about, and that there are millions of other children suffering and starving out there. But this guy is a friend and I really want to help him.

Any kind of donation would be helpful, even if its just a dollar. So me and two more guys are going to this trip on friday. We are probably going to stay out for around 5 days, travelling by car and stopping in some cities.

The plan is to drive 300km and stop in some city, then sleep, have some fun etc, drive 300km more and etc. The city with the canyon is 825km away from the point of start, aka my town. It is called "Canindé do São Francisco", pics:





Also pics of the cities we intend to stop in our way to the canyon:

Maragogi (famous for its natural pools)






Porto de galinhas (it has natural pools as well, but its nice because there are lots of turists there right now)




The other city is Aracaju, it's a "big" city like mine, but we want to go there to rest. Its around the 600th km of the trip, so we want to take a rest there before arriving the canyon city. I couldn't find any nice pic of the city, so I just skipped it lol.

Bad thing is we were supposed to start the trip tomorrow, but one of the guys in the trip can't do it because he's got a shitload of work to finish by tomorrow, so we postponed it to friday. I'm fucking ansious though, want o do it ASAP!

My girlfriend is in France right now, and I really have NO contact with her. She is with her mother and apparently they couldn't find cheap internet connection. She had to pay 10 euro for 40min of internet haha that's so expensive for half an hour of surfing the web. So, ya, due to her trip I kind of want to make the time 'run' faster, and the better way to do it is on a trip in my opinion. She will return on jan18th, and my trip ends around 14th.

hm that's it I think.

I'll post again after the trip.
