Solid
  RAHZero, Feb 25 2007

Didn't get in that many hands last night because it was Saturday, but played a short, solid session. Went down a bit early when I lost a bit with AK to a short stack (70 BBs) with KK. Normally wouldn't get it in with AK for that much PF, but he over-limped, then shoved PF, so I figured he was FOS. Later lost a buy-in with a combo draw (pair + FD + gutshot) to a flopped straight, and was pretty deep in the hole early. Managed to claw my way back up, stacked AK on a K-high flop with AA, then made a good read to win a stack with JJ. The biggest difference from NL $50 to NL $100 is the aggression level, but a lot of players just play really aggressively in marginal spots, which means they stack off a lot lighter. Ended up being a very nice session overall given the nice start.

Day 14 Totals:
+$164.70 in 797 hands of NL $100

Current BR:
$3,792

Overall Totals:
+$405.50 in 15,836 hands of NL $50
+$535.30 in 3,501 hands of NL $100
-$38.75 in 280 hands of $1/$2 Limit
+$143.90 in tourneys
+$244.51 in bonuses / RB

Blah...
  RAHZero, Feb 24 2007

After my sweet first day back at NL $100, Thursday didn't go quite so well. I went down a bit early with TP + NFD with AJ against a guy with AA that smooth-called PF. Later lost a set over set in a reraised pot to put me further in the hole, then lost with AK to a donk's AQ, all-in PF for half a stack. Overall, it wasn't too bad a day, don't feel like I played poorly, made maybe one misread with 99 on a ragged flop against an aggro player, and ended down less than 2 buy-ins.

Friday I took off from cash games to play some tourneys during the day. I went deep in a $20+2 $2k guaranteed. I had great position at the final table, directly to the left of a huge donk who was playing 60/15 and had luck-boxed his way into the chip lead. Of course, when I finally made a hand, top two with AK, he folded to my flop bet. Ended up busting in 6th for $130 when I shoved A3 from the CO, SB called with 66 and the 6 on the flop ended my chances (though I did hit trip 3s). Busted early in another $20+2 with a set vs. a flopped flush, and busted on the bubble of a $1 rebuy.

Day 12 Totals:
-$162.30 in 1,560 hands of NL $100
+$87.56 in bonuses (UB points for cash)

Day 13 Totals:

Rollercoasters...
  RAHZero, Feb 22 2007

Alright, haven't updated this in a while, but a lot has happened in the past couple days.

Monday was a rough day, I dropped two buy-ins at NL $50 quickly. Pretty standard coolers, top two pair against a turned gutshot and trips against a maniac's boat. Couldn't really get much going, spewed a little with AKs, and ended down about 2.5 buy-ins.

Tuesday was much better, I played only a short session which went really well, hit flopped quads vs. flopped boat, and made a good river call with a set on a 4-straight board. Finished up a little over 3.5 buy-ins on the day.

With my BR comfortably over 3k 10 days into my challenge, I decided to move back up to NL $100 last night. Boy am I glad I made that choice. I ran very well, played a very snug game, and got paid off. The games up there were actually worse than the typical NL $50 games at UB. Not sure if it was a game selection or just last night, but there were some very juicy tables. I had only 1 full stackage all night (AA vs. KK, lol rungoodaments), but stacked a lot of short-stacks for like 50 or so BBs. Ended with my best cash game night ever, up over 5 buy-ins for my first +$500 cash day. This pads my BR pretty nicely for NL $100, and hopefully I'll continue to do well there.

Wednesday's graph:

Day 9 Totals:
-$127.05 in 2,407 hands of NL $50

Day 10 Totals:
+$187.10 in 558 hands of NL $50

Day 11 Totals:
+$532.90 in 1,144 hands of NL $100

Current BR:
$3,622

Overall Totals:
+$405.50 in 15,836 hands of NL $50
+$532.90 in 1,144 hands of NL $100
-$38.75 in 280 hands of $1/$2 Limit
+$60 in tourneys
+$156.95 in bonuses / RB

Breaking even is fun...
  RAHZero, Feb 19 2007

Meh, I'm starting to get frustrated again. I managed to pretty much break even yesterday despite not losing a big pot all day, won 1 big pot with a full house with sixes, and lost a ton of medium sized pots with JJ/QQ against crap like Q5s. Pretty much a long boring day. I also played a little limit and lost a fair amount there (thank God I didn't run that bad at NL, had AA flop a set and lose a big pot there). Played a couple tourneys and finished up a bit: a $25 MTT that I cashed for about $50 in, and a $22 SNG that I took second in. Overall, a frustrating day, but at least I made a little bit.

Day 8 totals:

+$10.65 in 1,232 hands of NL $50
-$38.75 in 280 hands of $1/$2 Limit
+$60.00 in tourneys

Current BR:
$3039

Overall totals:
+$345.45 in 12,841 hands of NL $50
-$38.75 in 280 hands of $1/$2 Limit
+$60.00 in tourneys
+$156.95 in RB / bonuses

Ugh...
  RAHZero, Feb 18 2007

For some reason, I always lose big on Saturdays. Last Saturday I played during the day and had my worst NL $50 day ever, yesterday I played late at night with similar results. Saturday nights seem really high variance, I had to play for my stack a TON last night. A couple rough beats, a couple standard coolers, and a long stretch where I just couldn't catch a hand and I ended up down quite a bit. Looks like I'll finish out the first 10 days at NL $50 and see where I'm at. So far today I'm break-even over a few hundred hands of NL, up a bit in tourneys and down a bit in limit, up a little overall.

Day 7 totals:
-$193 (PT missed a hand, trying to get UB to e-mail the HH, so total is based on my BR number) in 1,710 hands of NL $50

Current BR:
$3,006

Overall totals:
+$334.80 in 11,609 hands of NL $50
+$156.95 in bonuses / RB

Pokah nice...
  RAHZero, Feb 17 2007

It's always fun to run well for a change. Yesterday was a very good day, played a short session in the afternoon and won a big pot with AA on an AJJ flop against a donk with A5o. Came back and played a late night session, which was extremely swingy. I hit two big combo draws, KcJc on a Tc8c7x flop, Qc on the turn, and 6s5s on a Tx2s3s flop, 6x on the turn, 8s on the river. Won a couple nice pots with KJ that flopped trips vs. trips with lower kicker, and a flopped flush with KsQs. Probably got a little spewy with my c-bets and raises during the rush, or I could have made quite a bit more. Also made a nice laydown on the river with J6 from the BB vs. J8, J86 flop, lost a bit, but managed to preserve most of my stack. Overall, a very solid day. My BR is now plenty to move up and give NL $100 another shot, but I'll probably play at least one more day at NL $50, which will complete the first week of my challenge. At the beginning, I mapped out my quest and planned to spend the first 10 days at NL $50, but I've played a bit more hands than expected (I wanted to play 1k a day).

Day 6 totals:

+$204.05 in 1,338 hands of NL $50.

Current BR:

$3,198

Overall totals:

+$527.20 in 9,899 hands of NL $50.
+$156.95 in RB / bonuses.

Another solid day
  RAHZero, Feb 16 2007

Yesterday was a pretty standard day, nothing too interesting. I sucked out vs. a short stack with QQ vs. KK AIPF, but got sucked out vs. a shorty w/ JJ all-in vs. AQ on a rag flop, so those two more or less canceled out. Other than that, just a solid day, got paid off nicely with a set of fives vs. AK on a K5x flop, actually played a bit HU vs. a fish and stacked him with AK vs. K9 on a K-high board. Could have been a little better, lost one flip AIPF with AK against QQ vs. a solid player, but oh well, those are the breaks. Pretty happy with my play overall, I'm definitely opening up my game a lot more and it's paying off. I'm no longer a nitty 16/12 or whatever, my VP$IP was dangerously close to 20 yesterday (19.88), and I keep finding spots to add new hands to raise PF. Watching a lot of videos of LAGs has helped, I really think I still need to open my game up a lot more, as that seems to be very profitable especially at higher levels. Also cleared 2,000 points for the week for UB points for cash, which got me a bonus of $150+

Day 5 totals:

+$85.60 in 1,288 hands of NL $50.
+$156.95 in bonus (UB points for cash)

Current BR: $2,994

Overall stats:

+$323.15 in 8,561 hands of NL $50
+$156.95 in bonuses / RB

Another crazy day...
  RAHZero, Feb 15 2007

Alright, so with the monster blizzard we had all day yesterday, Cornell decided to shut down in the afternoon. Which meant that I had a ton of free time. Which lead to the insane grinding session that follows:

A lot of crazy hands, suffice it to say it was a frustrating day, but very satisfying to get back into the green at the end.

Day 4 totals:
+$21.60 in 4,648 hands of NL $50

Current BR:
$2755

Overall totals:
+$237.55 in 7,273 hands of NL $50

So yeah, that's basically 6k break-even, but whatever, it could be worse.

Roller coaster of a day.
  RAHZero, Feb 14 2007

Yesterday was pretty crazy. Started down 2 buy-ins with a standard flop push with AK on an A-high flop that ended badly, and set < straight. Build back up to $0, then go back down, then get back to even was pretty much the story of my day.

Day 3 totals:
-$9.50 in 1,354 hands of NL $50.
Current BR: $2,744

Overall totals:
+$215.95 in 2,625 hands of NL $50

New start...
  RAHZero, Feb 13 2007

Alright, so after reading some comments from my last entry I definitely gave some serious thought to my game. I probably do focus on beats too much, when I should just forget about them. Anyways, I decided to start over fresh. After a terrible Saturday, my BR was down to about $2.5k. I considered switching to tourneys and/or limit for a while, played a couple tourneys and one limit session, and decided to stick with NL.

So, I created a new challenge for myself, to try to get out of the rut I've been in lately. I usually don't set money goals, just hand goals, but I've decided I need something to motivate myself. The new challenge is to get my bankroll over $10k in the next 60 days, playing an average of at least 1000 hands per day. This should be doable, as I should be able to move back to NL $100 soon, and I'm including all bonuses and RB. Updates so far:

Day 1 (2/11):

I ran very well, played a pretty good game and had two nice sessions. Won an almost 150 BB pot with AA vs. QQ, hit a big combo draw with KhQh on a JhThx flop, Ad on the turn, and got paid off with quad jacks with AJ on an AJJJx board against AK.

Final totals:
+$225.45 over 1,271 hands.
Current BR: $2,752

Day 2 (2/12):

Off. Didn't get any hands in due to work and other shit. Oh well, will probably play plenty of hands today.
