Moving on up
  DustySwedeDude, Jul 03 2012

Not in stakes but in the country. I'm officially a resident of Sundsvall which is about 400 km north of Stockholm according to my, not very exact, estimation. The apartment is pretty nice even though it's not the fanciest thing I've ever seen and it's very close to the Casino. Unfortunately it's not much of a Casino.

Since Telia is the worst company I've ever had the questionable pleasure to deal with promised me that I'd have internet and TV here by the end of June I did not worry about it. If I tell them not once but twice how it's very important to me and they promise me that it'll get done I'd be fairly safe, right? WRONG! I got pissed and now I'll get internet from some other company within 2-4 weeks and until then I'll have to make do with a slow ass connection that only allows me to play poker some of the time. Oh well, it's not the end of the world since I live close to a Casino, right? I can play poker live, no problem, right? WRONG AGAIN! I took a walk down to the casino a 19.30 a friday night and apparently they did not have any cash games running, even though they stated that they had cash games some days. Girl in the reception recommended video poker and some table game. I asked for the closest way home. They did not know. Oh well, apparently they have some kind of tournament series with two, yes two, tournaments in a few weeks. Main event is some 5000SEK (~750US) thingy that I might play. They might have some cash games then.

A girl I used to do BJJ with comes from this city and works at the hospital over the summer so I tagged along with her to a rolling session for the first time in more then a year yesterday. I was just a out of shape and slow as I imagined I'd be. Got gassed like 5 min into the class then spent 10 minutes getting tapped by a big guy, 20 min getting tapped by a smaller guy, 10 min getting tapped by the girl (she's a purple and have won a fair few tournaments including some decently sized ones all over Europe) before someone decided to teach me how to do reasonable arm triangles since I had forgot most of it. I forgot that I had to grab my bicep and rather tried to do it with a monkey trip, heh. Then I rolled some more and by the end of the class my breathing had gotten back to somewhere close to what it should be and it felt a little better. I had a ton of fun and I'll try to keep that up rolling at least 2 times a week and maybe do some running, go to the gym or train something else 2 times a week. I thought the place I used to roll at was good but this one has a bigger math, less people and everyone was really nice.

As for poker I've managed to get in like 3.5k hands or something stupid so far this month running 10bi under equity and winning like half a buy in. I'm ok with that, hoping to get like 40k hands or something this month but that might be hard considering how I should probably visit my parents, my connection and some other things. Aiming at 80k hands in August instead and I'm hoping to have at least one month when I put in 100k hands this year so that I can start getting used to putting in volume.

Stupid Internet
  DustySwedeDude, Jun 26 2012

Still no internet at my new place. I'm at my parents' place now and figured I'd just put a blog post out there stating that in case someone have tried to reach me on skype/facebook/whatever I have not gone nuts or anything but rather just not been able to get internet working yet. Should be back within a few days or a week at the most.

Have a good week guys.

A public service announcment
  DustySwedeDude, Jun 13 2012

This might be the most important post I've made on a blog. It has very little to do with me but a lot to do with anyone who lives in Europe or any other country that might turn to shit really soon. To get some background, please watch this speech in the European Parliament by quite possibly the most entertaining politician in recent times:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=TN_1mF-3JTI

The Euro is shit, it'll turn to shit and to claim that the Euro was a good idea is bullshit on such a level that I can't even describe it. Ten years ago I though the Euro was a cool thing that Sweden should use. My only defence is that I was 15 and an idiot.

If you live in a Euro country, the possible exception being Germany which seems fine for the time being, make sure to have some stockpiled food home, enough to last for a week or two, keep enough cash home that you and your family would be fine in cash the banks top working for a few weeks. Make sure to have enough saving to survive unemployment for 6 months or preferably more. If you're a poker player, make sure that at least some of your profits are reachable even if your bank account would stop working for extended amounts of time.

Obviously this crisis might blow over, but my guess is that it'll be a lot worse before it gets better and while we've seens rome riots in big European cities and bank runs in Greece, that shit is very likely to happen a lot more.

I live in Sweden and since the Swedish currency is not pegged to anything and Sweden is doing better then most of Europe (even though private debt is soaring due to retarded mortgages and that will, not might, will blow up in our face sooner or later) so I'm ok to have most of my money in this currency, but if you live in a Euro country, get hold of some Swiss money, gold and/or silver if you want to be on the safe side.

I urge you to read this: http://savecapitalism.wordpress.com/2...the-great-world-depression-2012-2020/

He's a bit extreme but he is mostly right in his predictions.

We will face another batch of news of "recovery" and crap before the election in the US and politicians in Europe will say that it's about to turn around. That will all be lies. Watch how country after country in the EU will need to be bailed out and eventually the Bundesbank won't be able to stop ECB from printing money and creating inflation. Inflation is a lot like a tax on money, and it's sneaky as hell. The FED will soon (within the year) start some kind of QE3 in disguise and print a shit ton of money and create even more inflation. Sooner or later China won't be able to drive the world economy. This fractional reserve banking system we have will most likely cause a fairly big collapse.

I'm aware that I sound like a paranoid gold bug (and I am, no argument there), but at least take the time to think about it next time you see a big European country in need of a bail out (I'm guessing Italy sometime this fall) or congress raising the debt ceiling.

I won't rant more about this since I do know that people who don't believe in it probably won't be convinced and people who do can read up on it much better elsewhere. Take care, feel free to ask stuff and remember that being prepared is the best insurance against things turning ugly.

He's great, funny as hell and according to my only lesbian friend the one guy she'd go straight for.

Just started watching, I think this stuff can be great.

Blogging is fun...
  DustySwedeDude, May 24 2012

for every one, except my opponents etc.

That rap video he put out is still so funny.

I have a ton of stories and stuff I'd like to post here so I'll try to do that from time to time and keep this blog active to keep in touch with the community and such. I've had so much fun with liquidpoker over the years and I hope to have a few more. I'm not sure if I'll play full time or if I'll walk into the shadows and be a lawyer (just got my law degree!) but the allure or getting back into high stakes poker is strong. My dream is to play full time, do BJJ 4 or 5 times a week and then spend time with the people I love, travel a bit and try to make enough money so that I never have to touch a damn legal code again unless I want to. I know that's fairly weird, but that's me. This song kind of made me feel like I'll have to at least try to be a bad ass poker player again. And yes, I get the irony of playing poker when I could be a lawyer and then bitching about "the struggle for legal tender".

I'm gonna be a happy idiot
And struggle for the legal tender
Where the ads take aim and lay their claim
To the heart and the soul of the spender
And believe in whatever may lie
In those things that money can buy
Thought true love could have been a contender
Are you there?
Say a prayer for the Pretender.
Who started out so young and strong
Only to surrender.

I'm aware I'll probably end up working with something fairly plain at a government agency or something sooner or later, but on the other hand I'm not sure what's so bad about that. Or I might by a farm and try to be one of those self-sufficient people who produces most of the stuff they need by themselves.

Anyway, I guess that's it for today. Next week I'll probably post a bit about my poker plans and such. Stupid HEM2 destroyed my db with the last patch so no big graphs or anything. They where swingy but not overly impressive due to my trying to play 24 tbls of PLO joeingram-style not working out as well as one could've vainly hoped.

I actually do like a bunch of you guys a fair bit, despite not talking much to most of you.

/Dusty

Avengers
  DustySwedeDude, Apr 29 2012

Watched it in 3D yesterday. Easy one of the ~5 best movies I've ever seen along with stuff like Pulp Fiction, Dazed and Confused and a few others. Really awesome. Just check out the trailer and then go and see it, in 3D if possible.

Month going slow, about 30bi under ev but getting a semi-decent amount of hands in. Learning a bit too. Going to be a crazy month or two before I'm all moved to the new place.
