January so far!!
JYang, Jan 20 2008
Finally i made it to the 10k/month club so far!!
spent a lot of my time just grinding and watching cardrunners videos and tryin to improve my game. one of the biggest adjustments i made to my game that got me moving up pretty fast was switching to full ring. my style fits pretty good there and the players are pretty bad comparing to the 6max regs. the swings are also a lot better because of the nature of the game and that players just arent aggressive like 6max. my standard deviation for FR was pretty low, but i dont have a good winrate as a result. definitely a good tradeoff imo. I can open up more tables, i play anywhere between 12 to 18 depending on my mood and how good im running.
I definitely want to give 400NL a shot sometimes next week. the cardrunners FR videos helped me ALOT. i think the daut video was just a sick video. A lot of the 6max fishes tell me that daut run good and that his style was nitty and sux. I definitely do not think so. i watched that video like 3 times and i'd say i love the play. Daut didnt explain the logic behind his moves but i think I have somewhat of an idea of the style.
i played so much this month. im goin to take rest my month off to enjoy life again. lol, its prolly goin to be a lot of dota =D. definitely want to learn how to play HU properly and watch CR videos more. until then, my college starts 1/28/08.. meh, what can i say, have to finish school.
about the quality of 200nl games on stars/FTP, some of the play just fuckin tilts me. espcially those guys who limps AK after like 3 limpers and then u iso AQo and try to get 3 streets of value from those passive fish. but they c/c 3 streets for some reason... WTF
i seen plays such as limping QQ otb with like 3+ limpers, and then go on a check call mode, i hate myself when im value betting into better hands.
i also find afternoon games ALOT easier than evening games on stars, and FTP games alot fishier at night. so I probably will adjust to a 1 am to 9 am sleep schedule. next term school i have a few 6 am classes so i guess its good that im startin to adjust now.
obviously this post is useless w/o pics
not really 10k in the pic, but ironman bonuses that i cleared on FTP makes it 10k+ ^__^
going to watch football now =]

OMG SO MANY NITS!
JYang, Jun 24 2007
so i started playin some FR and i cant believe how many nits there are. most of the ppl who sit with full stacks have less than 10vpip.
then there's the shortstackers with less than 10vpip. rofl. they buyin for min in 50NL and play the pushbot game. sounds a lot like 5000NL. but i wonder how much these guys at 50NL make. =D
but these guys are mostly calling station nits so i have to wait to outflop them. lol. war of the nits =]. im prolly goin to play some 100nl fr tommorow since i got the hang of how to be the ultimate nit.
but the fish is easier to beat because ur playin way better hands than he is open limpin/raisin with. =] man.. i wonder how these ppl can keep depositing. all the 50vpip+ fishes. rofl
i think its helpin me become a better player because at 6max i think i kinda overplay all my hands.
internet problems
JYang, Jun 23 2007
i have both verizon (dsl) and earthlink (cable) and both of those are seriously giving me a headache.
verizon has been getting really good pings and decent speed but often disconnects which are gay even tho full tilt has the new disconnect protect timers. so i have to quickly unplug dsl and plug cable in so i can get back on action.
earthlink on the other hand doesn't disconnect but has really high ping and slow speed. rofl. i cant play on full tilt at all with this kind of connection. but stars seems ok. good software =].
thing is that i can 12 table easily with earthlink high ping on pokerstars fine, but not on full tilt tho. to play on full tilt i need my verizon connection which disconnects every fuckin hour.
i dont know what else i can do. i live in nyc and those are like the only residential internet providers =/. there are others but they are powered by the same companies. earthlink and roadrunner both uses time warner and all dsl companies use the covad CO i heard.
this seriously sux. i really need to clear my $500 bonus on full tilt that they just gave me!! =]. with rakeback this is really good money =]

Master Rosh's Expert Analysis

Jamie Langridge, the 2007 Bud Light USARPS champion, made use of several well-known strategies during his Final Sixteen run, but combined and utilized them in a manner uniquely his own. His style of play can best be described as "complex adaptive," as he switched effortlessly between runs of alternating and repeated throws.
In the final match between Jamie and David Borne, endurance was definitely a factor. In two of Jamie's previous Final Sixteen matches, he beat his opponents in only two sets. All of Brandon 's matches lasted an entire three sets, and he was obviously starting to tire by the time he reached the finals.
In the first set of the finals, Jamie stunned David with a quick two throw victory, with no ties. Jamie made excellent use of the Roshambollah Trap, which posits that a player will not use consecutive identical throws. Thus, after winning with scissors, Jamie threw rock, knowing that he would either tie or win. The second set started with a tied rock before David wisely played paper twice in a row, having learned his lesson in the first set. David wins this time, pushing the match into the third and deciding set. This time, the players tie with rock then scissors, noticeably affecting an already exhausted Borne. After this, Jamie uses a similar one-two punch to take David out in two throws and win the championship with a final throw of paper, a throw he had not used successfully since the round of sixteen.
Jamie showed excellent metagame awareness through his entire Final Sixteen run. Over all four of his matches, he threw rock sixteen times, as opposed to nine each for paper and scissors. This created an imbalance in his opponents' perceptions; the more he threw rock, the more his opponents tended to believe he would continue doing so. This caused his antagonists to throw more paper than usual, especially David in the final set. Aware of this, Jamie made excellent tactical use of scissors; fully 60% of Jamie's winning throws in the final match were indeed scissors.
If anything, Jamie's only real weakness is how he delivers the paper. Out of the nine papers thrown in his final four matches, Jamie only won twice, giving him a dismal win ratio of 22% with paper. He fared little better with rock, winning seven out of sixteen throws for a win ratio of 44%. His real strength is in his well-timed tactical scissors strikes; he won eight of the nine times he threw scissors in the Final Sixteen, giving him an amazing 88% win ratio when using this throw. If Jamie can maintain his scissors "edge" and shore up the problems currently affecting his paper game, his RPS potential is virtually unlimited.
