my A-game is on
remember87, Feb 20 2009
how I love my game right now! I am 100% shure I have never played better than this!
I just ended a 1500 hand session at NL400 against a lot of regulars and I really felt I had an edge against them. Some of the tables I completely ran over I read their ranges very well and adjusted well. Of course there are a lot of things I need to work on, especially valuebet thin enough, but I think I had a really solid game and made very few mistakes. The session ended up 3,5BI.
I had a positive non-showdown winnings (a hugh step forward ), I played loose enough for my style (23/18/4) and I felt I found good situations to squeeze.
I think I played a better deep game today also then I have done before. One hand though am I very interested to know how I should have played:

This hand shows a lot of my weaknesses in deep stack poker.. Is it a B/F on the river?
GL at the tables everyone!
supersolid session
remember87, Feb 16 2009
I recently played a 400 hand session at NL400 and I am very proud of my game. I dont think I have played more solid than this. I didnt loose any pot bigger then 100$ or win any pot bigger then 150 - but I still won around 2BI. I got thin value from a lot of situations and I felt I owned the players around the table.
This is how poker should feel like
Guess its back to qualification rules in international private law
happy it was caplimit
remember87, Feb 14 2009
I tried some caplimit tonight.. most of the players really sucked big time. If the table isnt too hard I guess I even have an edge at capNL1000..
but sometimes thats not enough - I couldnt win anything tonight, and JJ was my biggest enemy. Think I lost 3 times AI pre at NL1k with a higher pair and JJ draws out. I also lost a couple of capBI against people who outdrew me or really big setups.
The overall result for the night was however saved a little by them giving me a lot of small pots all the time. Some BI was however lost to the fish. Why cant I win sometime when I make a shot?
shot gone wrong
remember87, Feb 11 2009
yesterday I decided not to play today but when I saw a 9-max table at NL1000 full of fish I couldnt resist.
after only a few hands I got it in versus my main target in my biggest pot so far:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/629883
well.. life goes on. After only like 20 hands or so later I met the second worst player at the table in my second biggest pot:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/629888
I dont think I could have played either of them different. In the last hand he gets it in with so many draws, pairs etc that I must be ahead of his range.
So: back to grinding NL200 again I guess
a bad blogger?
remember87, Feb 10 2009
guess I´m not a very good blogger - a small indication of that is when a reader has to beg for an update
I have to appologise for the lack of updates. I guess I will take it more serious when I feel I have something to report. Right now I am trying to find time to play. Some days I get several hours in and win steadily and everything feels good. Everyday should be like this since my opponents are not that great. However, the next day I only play like half an hour and run superbad, loosing all the money from earlier and suddenly it doesnt feel that great any more.
Today was one of those great days, up around 2k. I had position on some superbad players who threw money on me. I hope I dont loose them all tomorrow think I will avoid poker just to be shure of that
I wish I hadnt all the law-stuff hanging on me. Normally I think law is fun but right now I have become somewhat school-tired or what its called. I think this term beeing pretty boring has a lot to do with this. So it feels like its taking time and focus away from poker and other things thats more fun. Guess I have to do the best of the situation and study a fair amount of time atleast. If I can hold on until the summer I can take time out from school, 6-12 months or something, and then feel really motivated again to come back and study.
january
remember87, Feb 01 2009
I can summarize it one word: horrible.
I ran pretty bad, I played bad, I tilted (like one of the first times in a very long time), I played NL400 (in the end) when I shouldnt have. Well - its been the worst month so far for me. I only got in around 20k hands too.
Results from the different games:
NL 600-1000: 500$
NL400: -3200$
NL200: +900$
HU (NL200-400): -1700$
PLO (100): -600$
Live NLH: +12k SEK
Result after RB: around -2k$
So, what have I learned?
* Not to play HU - except against hugh fish. 6-max is my game.
* To play PLO at the 50$ level until I know the game. Even if most of the lost pots were standard I guess I dont have an edge the first time I try it...
* Not to tilt at NL400 when I´m not rolled for it. Especially not against the best regs on a friday night - they own me so hard!
* To be agressive. It pays of. (old truth I know but I realize it more and more)
* Casinoplayers are bad at poker.
* A pair is good against dusty even in a 1750bb pot
I am looking forward to february now. I hope I can have a decent winning month so I can start playing NL400 again - I miss those aggressive games! I learn so much and I think I have an edge if I tableselect some.
omaha
remember87, Jan 28 2009
I tried a little omaha today and yesterday. I dont know if I suck at it or if I´m a bit unlucky but I almost couldnt win a hand at all and ended down more then 6 BI (dont have PT for omaha so I dont know exactly). Dont think I won even a single coinflip but thats life...
would appreciate some input on these:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/619006 - can I play it different?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/619005 - bettingsize ok?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/619004 - bad turn, check since I am blocking fullhouse-outs?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/619003 - clear fold? does that answer change if I had Kd9d?
think I will avoid omaha for a week or two, watch some videos on the topic and then return (but maybe play PL50 instead). Its fun but I would love if could win a hand or two too
As for the pokermonth: it sucked big time. I havnt run well but I cant blame luck. I have played pretty bad and I guess I have only myself to blame. Most of the time its not too bad though, I´ve just managed to hit the top of their range a lot. Many on FTP are hugh nits on NL200 too and that´s pretty tilting sometimes. They dont seem to be able to call down light or VB either. When I´m trying to VB AT on KT752 or w/e after checks turn/river they show up with AK or something. Guess I lost a lot of money in those spots this month.
birthdays and workout
remember87, Jan 17 2009
Yeay! I´ve never been this old before 22.. legally nothing happens in Sweden but I´m happy to be just one year older!
I will be going home to my family tonight and celebrate. Guess I will be sleeping over too becuase my mother turns 50 tomorrow. Think this will be a great weekend!
Before that though, I will for the first time ever, be going to work out on my birthday. I had a bet with a couple of friends that we´d work out 3 times every week and if we didnt do that we´d have to pay 100SEK to a pot for every time we miss one. Since I had to go to Stockholm yesterday to buy my mother a present I will have to do it today instead. I could just pay up but its kinda embarrassing to have to pay the very first week so I´d rather do the workout.
So whats the cause of this pot we are building? In the end of May we´ll be playing Yahtzee for it So if I´m too lazy this term I´d just have to run well and take back my money - easy as pie!
Cheers!
long grinding session
remember87, Jan 15 2009
I played a real and long grinding session today for the first time in a long time. I played 6 tables of NL200 and quit first after 6h. I just cant describe how bad they are on this level! I almost tilt when I dont get there money because I am sooo worth it!
Just 2 examples of plays:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/609214
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/609201
I dont know if I should be satisfied or unhappy, but either way I ended up 5BI. I think I will stay at this level tomorrow too and then go up to NL400 again. It is very relaxing to just go down a level for some hours and fill up the batterys after a few loosing sessions.
staying away from HU
remember87, Jan 14 2009
I tried some HU the past two days. I guess I will stay away from that in the future. I dont think I played very bad but I am much better at 6-max so why not stick to my best game. In HU, I think my biggest leak is that I call to often oop. Today I also VB too thin because my opponent had a hard time VB himself and instead just C/C my VB on the river (but he also called down light so didnt want to give too much value away). I also ran pretty bad. He hit a ton of rivers that were just pure luck and when I had big hands I didnt get value from them.
Pre-flop the game was very aggressive and there was a ton of 3bets and 4bets. Therefor I guess I ran pretty bad there too when we came AI pre and I lost with AK vs AJ, setups like KK vs AK and I lost a few coinflips. After 2h I was down 6BI (on NL200) and threw in the towel. If I try HU again I will go down to like NL100 and only play as entertainment.
I quick update since last time. I was at the casino once more a week ago. I didnt play that great but the table was full of fish so I ended up a fair bit.
On the internet I havnt run that well. I think I have played decent (not great) but I have been outdrawed in some big pots and lost a couple of hands I shouldnt have. Around the table I always see like 4-5 really fishy players but I cant get there money! So on 6-max I am down like 5BI or so. Guess I will lick my wounds, go down to NL200 and just play some straightforward poker until I am mentally prepard to get back to NL400...
