Hello NL25
lazymej, Jul 14 2008
So today I took my first legitimate shot at NL25 after watching Wall-E which was quite deep btw. Long ass movie though it seemed, I had to piss bad towards the end of it. Anyway, NL25 so far seems a lot easier than NL10 lol. In a few ways at least. Anyway, I ended up making just shy of 2BI in about 1k hands. I also took down some monster pots, the biggest I've ever won :D
i.e.
Big: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/484789
Biggest: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/484805
See - at NL10 it's so hard to get people to stack off with a pair of Qs with K kicker. They're all a bunch of fucking nits.
I also had 2 sessions of NL10 before the NL25, the first one was really shitty where I was negative for most of it and then went up a bit at the end. Second one was decent and made a few BI. Anyway, onto the proof now
P.S. I think I should work on opening more hands preflop, because 17/15 and 15/13 is sooo fucking nit at 6max. I find it weird because I'm raising all kinds of rubbish on the button and CO. Okay well not complete garbage but still hands that most people would be throwing into the muck. I find I get lots of trash hands so I don't see how I can be opening with more.
EDIT - Oh, btw I almost forgot! I am bronze star no longer! Behold:
Today was a good day

Had a short session maybe about 1h40min and I finally got a break after 3 very very dry days. Anyways, for your viewing pleasure: :D
Jesus Christ

What's with the fucking surge of nits at NL10 on PS? Fuck.
I wish cash games were this easy

Best session yet
lazymej, Jul 08 2008
Hi guys,
Well I really did have the best session I ever had yesterday (Monday the 7th July 2008 ). By best I don't mean a bit better than the others, or a lot better than the others. I mean A HELLUVA lot better than any other session I've had (in terms of money won anyway and the way I played anyway). The past few days I've been playing like 4.5k hands a day, and breaking even, or maybe winning half a BI or losing a BI. Sad, I know. But then I met PplusAD and after some time chatting with him, my approach to poker changed a lot. He taught me an important concept for my level - To not get into hairy situations when you don't have to with a marginal hand and to not try fancy things.
The reason why I was breaking even after those monster sessions was that after playing tight in the beginning and winning a lot, I would loosen up and try to outplay other players with bluffs, etc. Of course as most of you know well, this doesn't work too good on microstakes because people just love to call all day long with bottom pair lol. Me trying this on 8+ tables just made me spew like a joke. My lifetime graph will prove this:
ok so from 0-11k hands I was running pretty good. 11BB/100 average during that period following Grot's guide basically. Then from 11k-30k hands I had the driest streak EVAR. I just could not win for the life of me. My BR was always hovering in the range of 70-105~ dollars and it would never get above that. I reached NL5 twice, and had to move back down to NL2 twice. It was so frustrating and definitely discouraging. Then after 30k, I started winning again (finally!). I got my roll back to $90 then started playing NL5 again slightly under-rolled (if you consider 20BI standard for each level). Finally I began to crush NL5!!! Seriously I was so excited, so amped that I had started winning again. It felt amazing. I was getting my FPPs, and I eventually unlocked my $50 first deposit bonus. That helped me a lot too. Finally, two days and a few thousand hands later, I was past NL5. It was the best feeling to finally reach NL10 (I had been doubting I would ever reach it). Then NL10 I was having trouble winning again, mostly because of me spewing the money each time I won it. Oh right I was posting that graph to prove the spew, not tell me life story . Ya as you can see there are so many huge spikes in the 33k-50k hand range. And that is exactly what I'm talking about. Win a lot, graph goes up huge, then spew it all back, and graph goes back down huge.
Right at the end there, at 50k-51k hands, you can see that doesn't happen. I owe it to PplusAD for that not happening. No fancy stuff, just keeping it tight even after I won. And that 50k-51k hands was one of the best sessions I ever played. Definitely is in terms of money won and I only did it in 1.5k hands (my normal sessions were like 3k hands. sessions as in one go, without a break in between). The 1.5K hands I played yesterday were in 3 sessions, 2 hours in the morning, 2 hours in the afternoon and a bit in the evening). I played only 4 tables yesterday. So anyways I was hugely proud and I really need to stop blabbering because this is already a huge essay and I'm sure no one is gonna read this so on to the stuff that matters :D
P.S. Also a big shoutout to Andre, Madis, Jonathan, Eric and Oddeye :D
For yesterday:
Pokerstars Tool
lazymej, Jul 06 2008
I remember seeing on some vid that a guy was using a little app for Pokerstars. It had options like "Sit Out on All Tables" and I think it may have had auto-reload for chips? Anyways if any of you know what I'm talking about can you tell me what it is?
Craziest session I ever had.
lazymej, Jul 03 2008
So I just finished up a monster 3.5k hand session. Things were going steady until one guy joined a whole bunch of my tables. I play NL5, and on Pokerstars you can buy in for deep there. I usually buy in for the standard 100BB, but this guy brought $10 to each of the tables. So we start playing, and I notice that he is a total fish. He raises with trash, calls with trash, goes all in with trash. He plays nearly every hand. I then realize how much I can make off this guy. So I proceed to win about $50 (10 buyins for me) in about 5-10 minutes from that guy ALONE. I controlled the pots and got him to fold when I wanted to and got him to pay out more when I wanted to.
The pots got super fucking huge because I became deep by winning his stacks, and he would refill every time so they got bigger and bigger. It was fucking amazing. Then I lost it all back to him on some coolers, my flush with KQ vs his nut flush, and some stupid loose plays by me in an attempt to win more of his money. It was awesome while it lasted, but I got too greedy and hence became complacent and over eager. We played for a while after but he tightened up and started playing better. It's as if another person started playing for him.
Anyways, I finally unlocked my $50 first deposit bonus :D I'm sitting at about $185 (would be like $230-240 if I had done the sensible thing and called it quits after winning 9856095846 monster pots from him, or at least kept my game tight). But oh well, I learned a hell of a lot from the experience, plus I didn't really lose anything..although it would be nice to still have that in my roll. Anyway I've been playing NL5 for 2 days now, and I think I'm good to move up to NL10 soon
I was thinking of staying at NL5 for a bit longer even if I get the 20 BI for NL10 just so that I climb the stakes ladder properly, but I'm pretty confident that my game is good enough for NL10 so we shall see. Any tips/comments about that?
Losing is fun.
lazymej, Jun 23 2008
Well I finally got back to NL5 last night, hitting the $100 mark again. I was pretty excited, because NL2 is just boring because of how slow the money comes in. So today I was out the whole day and started up a 8 table session even though I was dead tired. I play for a while.. things are going so-so and I'm breaking even. Then 10 minutes later everything just goes to hell. Every single hands of my hands are raped. My high pocket pairs get owned, my straights get assfucked by flushes, my TPTK gets bludgeoned by retarded 2 pairs. Sucked out like crazy, ran like shit. I flopped like 1/20 sets and when I did I got no action. When I got AA, everyone folded to me before I could act. And when I could act, they all folded anyways. So here I am, 5 buyins down at $75. Oh well, back to NL2 ONCE AGAIN I guess.
WTF PS FPPs
lazymej, Jun 20 2008
Getting FPPs at microstakes is a total pain in the ass. It's bullshit. I played for a few hours today (first proper session in a long time). How many FPPs did I have? 226. How many did I have after 2k hands? 226. What the fuck is going on? I was under the impression that when you participate in a pot that is a certain size, you qualify to get FPPs. Fuck PS they can lick my nuts. I'm not even half way to unlocking my first deposit bonus after playing some 30k hands. Can anyone say WTF with me?
Anyway, like I said this was my first proper session (i.e. playing many hands and me actually winning) in a long time (couple of weeks or more possibly). In those last few weeks I was running like total dog shit and could not win for the life of me. I lost some ~10 buy ins at NL5. You all may think that is a joke because its like 50 bucks, but to me it means a lot. It's a significant fucking part of my BR. So now I'm back down to NL2. I digress. Like I was saying, today was the first fucking day that I've started winning again. After maybe 3 hours I was up ~5 buyins (at NL2. lol?). Like I said, before this I was running like shit so I was pretty happy about this. But then some shit happened, like this:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/469106
and this:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/469100
and this:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/469085
and so on and so forth.
Admittedly, I played the first two like total shit. I guess I was starting to donk a bit after playing for so long and getting a bit bored/tired/don't give a fuck. So I lost a few of those won buy-ins in a space of maybe ten minutes (yay). That's the story of how I run. I grind grind grind building slowly but surely, and then it's all taken away before I can blink. Waste of fucking time? Maybe? Get my game more under control? Yes, I should definitely. Know when to quit? I usually do, but not today. So I ended with +1.5 buyins. Which is good considering I'm actually + for once. But it's also ultra gay because I could have had +5. Seems my journey to NL10 is going to take much longer than I anticipated.
Wow this blog got pretty long. And there is a lot of anger in it. How many times did I say fuck? Fuck it.
