4th in 1$ Rebuy tourney.
  SfydjkLm, Jul 26 2008

After being down 6(!!!) buyins in cash games i turned to tournaments and used my LP.net free Fulltilt money to enter the FT 1$ rebuy tournament, and finished 4th making up a hefty 12 buyins(for .10 table, 119 dollars to be exact).
Thank you LPnet!

(I busted out AK vs KT when flop came T4T.)

So sick!
  SfydjkLm, Jul 22 2008

I was sitting on this table with this dude, 100/80/6, who went up 8 buy-ins on this single table in a matter of 1 hour.

At first i was sticking to the table to take away his money, but i shoulda know better then to go against demonic pacts.

Izz a conspiracy!
  SfydjkLm, Jul 18 2008

I've had quiet a few coolers today flipping lower sets/full houses three times in a 1 and a half hour time 10 tabling. I mean, im to lazy to calculate the exact numbers but the probability of that happening oughta be insane isnt it?

Maybe its my paranoid conspiracy theorist nature but i always believed that online casinos rig the dealer slightly so more big hands would be dealt- effectively enticing all the fish who are laik "OMG ROYAL FLUSHZOR." To reinforce that belief i also got a QKTJQ flop for my AT v QQ. YEAH! RIGHT! THAT HAPPENS!)

I think i'm becoming immune to coolers too. Which is in my opinion the goal of playing low stakes.

Placed ITM in another .1 buyin tournament. With quiet a bit of luck tho!

Oh the mighty pockets!
  SfydjkLm, Jul 17 2008

After getting sickly coolered by a 44v66 on 22476 board, and another set on a straight board i was furious! "Damn those small pockets!"- i thought,-"Damn you! I call raises with you preflop and even when you do get a set you get bested? Damn you!"

I figured i'd go take a nap, cry some in the pillow perhaps, i was pretty tired, and will have to go to work in about hour and a half. But i looked at the clock and i saw that i still had 30 minutes of the time i dedicated to this session. "Ill be strong, ill get through it"- i thought.

In a few minutes i get this:

Dealer: Game #18891130106: PPPP77 wins pot ($17.13) with three of a kind, Tens
Dealer: Game #18891155518: Bepoop wins pot ($0.12)
Dealer: PPPP77, it's your turn. You have 8 seconds to act
Dealer: PPPP77, it's your turn. You have 8 seconds to act
Dealer: craige1975 has high card Ace
Dealer: PPPP77 has three of a kind, Nines
Dealer: Game #18891167820: PPPP77 wins pot ($5.48) with three of a kind, Nines

All in 3 hands time!
Sick!

Sorry i ever sweared at you small pocket pairs! I love you ill call all-ins preflop with you now!xD
And screw you all who didnt believe in setting time limits! s2 timelimits!

P.S.: oh yeah and i got for the first time ITM yesterday in the 10FPP buyin PS turbo. Got 350+~ish and .30 or .35 as my winnings!
Not much but its my first! YAY!

Ask and you shall be giveth!
  SfydjkLm, Jul 11 2008

I am about to finish up a poker session(i have strict timelimits when playing ring games- if you arent capable to be strict with time, what can u be strict with- poker addiction is 1 step away) when i lose an all-in with QQ against AK. He makes a AK high flush i make an AQ high. Looking at the clock i see that there is only 10 minutes left. I go "OMG gimme good hands!"

AA, KK twice, QQ twice and JJ twice.

LOOOOTS of money.

Tourney attempts and Sit-n-Go
  SfydjkLm, Jul 10 2008

Today i played 1 hour before and 1 hour after work, crushing the .05/.1 tables. A bit bored with fish i decided to try something i've been wanting to do for a while now- a tournament. Now for the past 2 weeks i've been watching unhealthy amounts of WPT/WSOP/High Stakes poker in the timeslot of my schedule previously dedicated to watching an unhealthy amount of illegally obtained movies.

I started out with a 10 FPP turbo tournament. I tried to mix it up and play aggressive and it was semi-successful until i shoved all in with pocket 9s(i saw them do it on TV!)- against pocket Aces. Now i was somewhat shortstacked but imo i shoulda folded em when he reraised my raise instead of going all in. I finished somewhere halfway the field at 21xx of 55xx.

Then i started the NL Holdem freeroll(the satellite to some 2k tournament). I decided to be my normal self- a nit(hopefully im using this term correctly)> It worked real well at first, and by the time about 3/4 of the players were eliminated i was at 97 out of 2 something thousand. Unfortunately i wasnt getting to many hands after that and my nittiness stopped me from bluffing and what not. My last hand was an 88 all in against AK suited, the board came blankTTJJ. Blah! I finished just 74 places out of getting the satellite ticket at 173rd out of 12thousand. Now i'd like to say 173rd out of 12k is a good result, but i recall myself placing in that range way back when I was just playing poker for fun. Ill give myself a pat on the back anyway- I really doubt the players in this tourney are much worse then in the penny ones i took part in=)).

My third one was a .25 buyin tourney, it ended soon too because of my mistake when i slowplayed a pair of Aces and ran into flush. Real bad play by me, finished 2200 out of 3189.

Fourth was another 10 FPP turbo, and here i just got slaughtered by the increasing blinds not able to get a half decent hand. Every time i folded preflop something like 72o flop came 72x or whatnot. In the end i lost two big pots with 66 against TT and 22 against TT. Damn pocket tens.

To get my spirits up i signed up for a 'dolla twany' SnG- the first one for me ever really. Ive played freeroll tourneys before but SnG-never. It went as planned, i was a nit up until only 4 players were left. I quickly went up in chips, almost eliminatin 4th player calling an all in bluff. He covered me however and in the next few hands managed to get from 210 chips to chip lead, mostly with 2s too, pocketpair, a set, 2nd pair for Kings. Quiet funny really. After a while though i've managed to eliminate him after all and from there on made an easy job of the other two players. EZ fo fiddy.

Im considering building stack now on SNG instead of 5/10 for a while- SnGs seem to be significantly closer to the real poker- i know i've only done one but in that time i've bluffed, called bluffs, played tight and aggressive, instead of just playing the nuts on numerous fish filled dime tables.

PT makes money and moving up in stakes
  SfydjkLm, Jul 07 2008

Today i moved up to NL5. I was terribly short stacked, however i did double the bankroll i started with at NL2 so i figured i'd manage, given that i am tight as hell. I surely was nervous as hell about moving up, almost nauseous! And that made me real happy, me, a guy indifferent and oblivious to the whole world finally gettin a hobby i really care about!(since starcraft xDDD). The cents i was playing with werent mere pennies anymore, they turned into ladder points, measure of success! All in all i did pretty well!

Also today i finally used PT numbers to win a hand. I had AJ when board came J49 and the guy started 4 betting. To my horror the river came as a 9 too and the guy made some ridiculous bet that almost made me fold.... When i looked at the numbers under his name... 79% voluntarily put in the pot. I called, and lo and behold, the dude had pocket 10s. He coulda easily had something like 98 too, so maybe my play was questionable, however at least i started using PT numbers to my advantage!*pats himself on the back*

Average of luck- a concept on the universe scale?
  SfydjkLm, Jul 04 2008

I've been running bad today. Really really bad. Losing pocket Aces to pocket 8s, AK double pairs to river flushes, lotsa other crap. After a while the luck seemed to change and i started crawling back up. But my biggest win? An accident. I had pocket 4s on one of the tables when the screen suddenly popped up the pokerstars way and i accidentally clicked on the raise button. Reraising 14c bet(im playing on the pennies) is not something i had in mind. In fact quiet the opposite I was planning to fold- deriving from my experience i dont trust low pocket pairs at all. Interestingly enough all but 2 players call my reraise, the flop- a 45A. To hell with it i think, going all in, 2 players call. Waddya know, 6.60 pot of penny table aint too bad.

Not good poker. I know.

I (re)started playing poker 5 days ago, so far im up about 14 bucks, but even if i was losing i would still be a happy man- my game has improved at least in a way that now i am capable to play on 8 tables simultaneously. Not too bad for someone who used to struggle with 4. I also got used to pokertracker HUD interface, was a pain for me, was losing cos it was distracting me at first(as such to the contrary of what i read here on forums I would advise beginners to take advantage of the free trial right away- it might be a pain to get used to later! But maybe its just my OCD! And besides one can get acquainted with looking at the numbers when the play is slow).

My real poker start was during the Starcraft Poker craze, however i never was too successful, lacked attention, wasnt grounded, impatient, tilted a lot. I guess being a few month short of 22 and having a job changes people!)

My main problem right now however is... Winning big. The loses dont affect me, nomatter how much I lose, but the victories, the big ones, cause a chain of losses. I get overconfident, and overjoyed, focused on the cash i won rather then the hand... at hand. I guess it comes from background in sports, where a loss you have to take silent, with dignity, but when you win you can let go of your feelings, and even... gasp... cry!

And one more thing: I'd like to thank GroT for his magnificent article! I don't exactly follow it to the letter, but whenever i hit a rough patch, i reread it and it helps me stay on target. S2
