I got a job, lol
  DustySwedeDude, Dec 17 2011

Or almost at least. I'm a blogger and "team pro member" over at Bettingboys. That feels pretty cool. It's in Swedish now but I'll try to get a text or two togheter in English too.

Those who can't do, teach.
  DustySwedeDude, Dec 16 2011

Obviously my luckbox is faulty. I think this might be my worst month both as far as money lost and in running under equity for at least 6 months. That kind of sucks. Fairly impressive seeing how I've mostly played 1/2 too. I'm playing decent but results just refuses to come. This is the third December in a row where I lose money. Maybe I should start doing charity work for Christmas instead of playing poker?

Random ugly ass hand:

Still a spot or two open for my group coaching thing I'm I'll be doing early next year. Check out my last blog for details. I hope my recent lack of luck doesn't rub off on people I try to teach . Two or three people is already confirmed and about 11-12 has expressed interest to join. I have a feeling it'll be really good. Edit: only non-US players

Low limit PLO-player look here
  DustySwedeDude, Dec 13 2011

I'm thinking of doing a kind of group-coaching/studygroup thingy that I think could be fairly good value for everyone involved. It's probably a semi-novel concept and it won't be as intensive as a normal coaching program but it'll be much much cheaper and if we can get a good group of players together I think it could be very good.

If someone's interested just send me a PM and if I get 3-4 people that seems like good fits together I'll try to get it started after Christmas.

I assume everyone knows who I am etc but feel free to ask stuff about me. Got various things going on that's not a look yet so I can't discuss too many details about this coaching idea just yet, but I'll get to that really soon, just judging interests so far.

Riga part something
  DustySwedeDude, Dec 01 2011

Too long in Riga

I've been here too long. While the city is beutiful and I enjoy the people I hang out with it's to small and untill I teach my girlfriend to play something decent enough to stake her for SNG's or something at the Casino I can't really grind while I'm traveling with her. Did anyone say the rake of life? It's not that bad, I've only spent about 500-600€ or so on crap I don't enjoy so far, but I really itch to play a bit. I guess it's just a buy in or two down the drain but yea, I wish I'd have time to grind a bit without feeling like a super crappy boy friend. Anyone knows how to solve this? I'm thinking making a schedual or something.

Went to a good resturant or two. http://www.fellini.lv/ was really good but a little expensive. I think I spent 120 lvl (that's like 160€ or something) including tips on a dinner for two, but the food was really good and I loved the service. It was really relaxed and the wine list was nice. They had a Amarone della Valpolicella I wanted to try out but I can't really bring myself to spend 100€ on a bottle of red wine a tuesday evening. Had some sicilian Nero wine that I can't remmember the name of but I kind of liked. The Swordfish was the 2nd best fish I've ever eaten.

Yesterday I had a really bad Kebab-plate for lunch and then me and the girlfriend went to some resturant I think was called ”province” with Dan and his wife and then took a trip to the Casino. Glimne went into a private room and played with a chess board and the really big Russian security guy that informed us that we couldn't be there and that it was a private room looked somewhat confused by his actions. I think he was somewhat unsure if Dan was just too rich to give a fuck or old and not 100% clear in the head. I found it hilarious. I'm not useally intimidated by security people but the guys at the casino, while very nice, are among the biggest and most scary looking security people I've ever seen. Most of them make me think of the Russian mecinaries in ”Rock'n'rolla”. To put it in short: I won't mess with this people.

I'm going to upload some picture of the casino when I get home. It looks really cool and overall it feels like a good place to play poker. I saw Lex ”Raszi” Veldhuis in the casino bar yesterday. That guy is scary as fuck, I hope I don't end up at the same table with him tommorow.

Going to go to a resutrant called ”Gastronome” and with my girl tonight and then take a trip to the sky bar at Radisson. She's turning 25 today. Glimne managed to say that she turns ”a quarter of a century” which may or may not have been the best thing he's ever said.

Wish me luck tommorow. I miss my cat.

Swedish Championships of Poker
  DustySwedeDude, Nov 24 2011

Last few weeks has been fairly brutal. Had a ton of stuff to do with various endevours and I managed to fuck up a bunch of things before the trip and thus I arrived to Riga fairly spent. Had a beer with some poker players and then went for an early dinner/late lunch with my girlfriend and the food was really good. This Hotel rocks so far.

Things I've learned so far:

Latvia has their own currency. That currency is not the Euro. I feel I made a mistake at forex before this trip.

Poker players will be poker players.

The game is not dead, and it won't be for long, even tough some legal stuff probably needs to be sorted out before we'll see any kind of new "boom".

Riga is much cooler then I imagined so far.

Anyway, the tournament starts at 1400 in this time zone. That's GMT +2 I think. Live reporting will be up on poker.se as far as I can tell if someone wants to rail a bit.

Anyone here btw? There's a bunch of tournaments here so I guess at least someone should be here.

I'll post updates about this tournaments and the other(s?) I'll play in Riga over at: http://dustyplayspoker.blogspot.com/ because I'm a little bit short on time. If I feel like it I'll just copy/paste them here but I'm not sure.

Good luck all!

Emo blog?
  DustySwedeDude, Nov 14 2011

Hi everyone! This is a real Dustyblog. Including a graph, some random philosoraptoring and written while I can hardly keep my eyes open. Damn christmas decoration that I'm not used to make me wake up at 6.30 and since our coffee maker sounds like a god damn earth quake I figured I'd wait with that until 9 or something. Spent the weekend up at my mom and dad's place with my girl and one of our cats. I went hunting moose with my dad on Saturday, the guy is in ridiculous shape for a guy almost 60. I'm not in great shape by any means but I'm very used to walking long distances fast since that pretty much the only way I can de-tilt myself fast and trying to keep up with him and a dog for 15 km in a forest with some hefty altitude changes messed a ton with my legs. During the worst part (walking up an area called "storberget", roughly translated to "The big mountain") my lungs felt like they used to do when I rolled with a guy called Jimmy, probably like 205-210lbs of knee on belly specialist with an purple belt, in the end of a long workout. The fun thing was that one of dads friends from work, who is very into Taekwondo kept urging my to bring water because "your dad walks really fast". I think it has a lot to do with the fact that people not used to walk around in forests seems to get tired where fast even if they have good conditioning to begin with since it's really hard to get used to the weird surface and such. Must like people not used to rolling seems to get tired very fast in BJJ. Same principle, you'll have to learn not to tighten up muscles more the you have too.

It's also super fun to see how much mom and dad likes our cat:

I think my mother wants grand children but decided to settle for hanging out with a cat for the weekend for now. Damn cat is fairly stupid so we did not want to let him out and run around outside on the off chance that he'd find a rabbit to chase and get lost so far from home and it took like a day before he started fucking with all the plants to the point that I felt fairly embarrased, but when I suggested to my mother that we shouldn't let the damn cat eat all her plants she almost got angry and told me to "let the cat play! he's having fun!". Dad went and found an old skin of a Pine Marten to let the cat play with and that was fairly entertaining too. My grandma is in the hospital but it's noting serious, just old age and fragile bones, and I got to visit her yesterday. She seemed in good spirits. It's weird seeing her get old though, my grandfathers and dad's mom all died 15+ years ago but my grandmother on my mother's side never really even seemed to get old and she's past 80 now. Her mom got to be 99 and looked a lot like a white Yoda in the end so I guess those genes are good.

I really really like me parents and I know they really really like me. What more can you ask for?

As for poker I'm doing very good.

Obviously I couldn't keep to playing just 1/2 so most of that is higher so it's a fair bit of money so far this month.

Overall I should really be happy, and to some degree. I'm almost done with my law degree, I'm finally making some money again and I feel like I've figured out lower mid stakes omaha again the last 40 or 50k hands. At least a little bit. Life's starting to take a turn for the better and all I need now might be to get some rest. I've been working really hard on my essay, some stuff for the Swedish libertarian party and poker combined for a while. I'll get a week now with a little bit less to do, then I'll go play the Swedish Championsships and Unibet Open in Riga and I guess I'll try to finish most my thesis while there and then be done with it in time before Christmas. I want that rest. I want to relax. No "have to"s, no drama and no annoying time limits. That's what I want for a while.

Sickish day BI-wise
  DustySwedeDude, Nov 10 2011

I won 22bi's over 2.7k hands yesterday. After been breakevenish for half a year and putting in fuck all for volume that felt very nice.

Started playing again
  DustySwedeDude, Oct 13 2011

So this month started out fine, won a little bit and then I got some semi-decent scores in the Swedish Championships of online poker. A 4th place in a side event for like 2k and got 9th in the main event. I lost KK vs 99 in a flip for 1.2 mil chips out of 7 mil total and first place was 1 million SEK, which is probably like 120k + a WSOP main even package and a package to the live Swedish poker championship. Ended up with a few K in profit for that series of events anyway. Then I lost a fuckton playin 2/4 PLO running god damned awful and tilt withdrew a bit of money, leaving myself with 5k online. Now I'm playing 1/2 and so far it's going really good and I feel that I've finally figured out how to beat those games, at least a little bit. There's probably a ton of work before I'll be good enough and rolled enough online to play much higher on a consistent basis and make a solid profit every month so I've decided that 1/2 might be the spot for me for the next few months. I have saved up a lot of money from poker during the years and I'm looking to buy a house within a year or 18 months and if gold and silver prices keeps going up I'll make a bit of money from that. I think that I might need the lower stress levels I can get from grinding 1/2 and it's still good money.

That'll give me time to focus on other things in my life. Also, I think I've got an decent chance to be one of the the scariest 1/2 PLO regs on the site if I just keep it up and figure that limit out for a while. I hope to play 150k hands of 1/2 before I turn 25 next spring and then I can figure out what to do with poker. It's weird getting older. For the first time I'm a while I'm having some responsibilities and in involved in a bunch of fun stuff overall.

New month, new stuff
  DustySwedeDude, Oct 02 2011

Brag: I had a winrate of 36.6 bb/100 last month.
Beat: I played 2k hands in total.

Need to get back to playing a lot. Did a lot of other work that needed to be done and I archived a masters rank in 2on2 with remmember87 who probably does not post here anymore.

Now I need some help, do anyone know of any great resources/articles regarding social networking in regards to spreading knowledge about a trademark/organisation or similar?

Mind reset
  DustySwedeDude, Aug 28 2011

Have taken a week or 10 days off poker to get my mind of things, unfortunately other stuff keeps falling to pieces and I'm supremely annoyed and not at all in a good mental state for poker. Haven't been able to sleep until like 6am in the morning for the last 5 or 6 days and various crap goes to shit. Got really annoyed a while ago when I was sure that someone was trying to rip me off, but it turned out that it was just someone I should be able to trust who hadn't told me everything because "it was embarrassing" which fucked up a good 3 days for me. I need a break from crap.

Only good thing the last few days in the gold and silver prices but unfortunately I've run into some negative variance with some mine that crashed down and fucked up some shit for a company I've got a fair bit of shares in so I'm not actually up anything lately, despite timing everything perfectly with my last buy (Sandstorm Gold). Spending a few hours every other night figuring out financial statements and shit so my investing game might actually get better.

Playing primas 500k grtd today (and tomorrow if I happen to stay alive for 4 more hours and day 2) but then I'm going home to my parents for a week or maybe a little more to figure shit out, get some school stuff out of the way and do a lot of long walks, fishing and maybe some other "nature" stuff with my phone off. I'll probably check my e-mail once or twice every day but other then that I aim at being "of the grid" and not worry about anything except getting a bunch of work done for a while and hanging out with the parents.
