Redemption?
  superfashion, Sep 09 2009

Since my last blog is painful for me to even look at, let alone acknowledge, I've decided to post another with what actually happened last night.

I was 8-tabling with the multi-click option on (which I have fixed since, thanks to a comment on my other post) and ended up losing about 3.60 at .01/.02 NL tables over about 2 and a half hours. I realize this is not a lot of money, but it's definitely not how I wanted to start my run with real money.

Today I've played about an hour so far and have brought myself back up to about a dollar short of what I started with. Now that I've calmed down and realized that getting pissed and playing bad hands and blaming unrelated shit will not help my game, I feel I've been playing a lot better.

I hope some of you got a laugh out of my last blog, since I'm sure it was the typical "omg I lost money wtf I h8 poker" post.

Full Tilt vs Poker Stars
  superfashion, Sep 08 2009

So I was playing Full Tilt, but they suspended my account claiming that I'm under 18 (I'm 19). I decided that instead of sending in all my shit, I'd just switch to Poker Stars.

The problem is that PokerStars is COMPLETELY FUCKING UNPLAYABLE. I have no idea how anyone can take this piece of shit program over Full Tilt; you have to click everything like 5 goddamn times for it to even register and it's costing me hands all over the fucking place.

Temptations
  superfashion, Sep 07 2009

For those just tuning in, I'm just starting off with Hold'em and I've been playing fake money until I get the Brunson and Hansen books.

As an update, I got really bored with just one table, as I was making good progress and found it to be very slow-paced. I decided to go ahead and multi-table, starting with 4. I immediately lost all my money because I was cocky.

After watching High Stakes Poker with my dad for a while, I decided to reset my chip count and come back. 1000 chips, 4 tables, 200 each with 200 extra just in case. As I realized it was more systematic with more tables, I watched my bankroll grow. I just finished 6-tabling, and I've turned that 1000 into 4500 in an hour and a half.

Again, I know it's fake money and it's not an accomplishment, but if you've read my previous blogs this is more of a personal progress thing than anything else.

Unrelated, but fuck iccup in the first week.

Full Tilt - Day 1
  superfashion, Sep 06 2009

For the limited amount of people who may be interested in following my progress (not to mention for a personal checkpoint), here's a bit of an update.

I'm waiting on Brunson's "Super System," Hansen's "Every Hand Revealed," and Caro's "Book of Poker Tells" to be delivered, but the long weekend is killing me and Amazon says they'll be in this coming Thursday. Damn my impatience!

I bought into a table with fake money on Full Tilt, 5/10 NL Hold'em. (I'm still not too sure of some of the terms that are commonly used.) In about an hour, I turned that 400 into over 4,000. I realize it's fake money and is completely worthless, but I feel I've gained a decent amount of knowledge in terms of what I should be playing and not playing.

Like I said in my previous blog, I'm not playing for real money until I read the books and feel like I have a strong foundation with which I can proceed into the realm of cash games. Today is my only day off (even though I had to run in to work briefly and it's already 4 PM...), so I'll be using it to become more comfortable with NL Hold'em. I might post another blog tonight with an update on the day.

The Beginning
  superfashion, Sep 04 2009

I've been sucked into the world of poker with iCCup being down and with a large amount of free time now that fall is coming through and my work is not as busy.

However, I refuse to just jump in. I am of the firm mindset that if I learn the theory behind a winning hand and the mentality with which I should approach the game, I will be far more successful.
So this is my starting point, and this blog will serve as my progress (and failure) journal as I delve into the realm of online poker.
