It's a cruel game
  vegable, Jun 27 2007

Poker greets me in the morning with a loss of -4 buy ins. It's a vicious cycle of eye popping suckouts and tilt of the banana phone caliber. Not a good way to start the day.

Afternoon gives me an opportunity to make things right. My gains fluctuate more violently than a baby in a rotating dryer.

Evening comes. Finally the powers that be permit me to hit my outs. I finally finally finally manage to get back to even after the last few days that were just dispicable. Hellmuth Blackbelt Poker videos are worth their weight in gold.

I also poond some BGH newbs today. Nothing gets my confidence back up faster than broodwar.

-end-

is it wrong to get a hard on from zwinkies?

Hello friendly neighbors. Its been over a month since I've entertained you all with a new entry. I doubt 1% of you have even seen me around...

A month and a half ago I was playing 25NL, hovering over the same bankroll for oh say...a year and a half lol. Since my return in mid may I've picked up momentum and have really begun to learn. Posting hands, watching videos from the LP community has really boosted my game. I even went as far as hiring a coach to solidify my playing style. Even though the session didn't go very well, I got all I could out of it by plugging the miniature holes in my game.

At NL50 the competition is unbelievably frustrating at times, and juicy on the weekends. There is so much floating, restealing, hero calling, etc. etc. it's making my head spin. I keep giving up the small pots because it's like my hand is face up. Do I try to out-out-out-think the good players? Or just take the easy road and just play my cards? I feel the former has more value in the long run.

...Yet I'm getting my ass handed to me. I'm not getting crushed, but remain a miniscule winner thanks to the clueless fish. But if I ever want to move up I know playing my hands only won't get me to my ultimate goal of $2/$4

I watched exalted's video and it was well done. He said something about not being a believer in image and I think that applies when opponents are only playing their cards and the stats they have on you. That makes a lot of sense since not many players get overly tricky at NL50...they're such frickin nits (or loose passive unless with a hand) it's so annoying. Meh, I don't know what to believe. If you've got suggestions to improve then lets share. Looking at hands will only get a person so far

Dear diary
  vegable, Apr 27 2007

I woke up and played some poker today, for about 50 minutes, then got distracted. Been running pretty good so far, but not so sure I've been making the right plays because there are so many weak players.

Logged off poker and fired up starcraft like a loser and got a msg from this guy who wanted to try out for our team. I'm retired, but was looking for some funnnnn.

Him stomping around in my base

I never understood blogs. Why would anyone ever care to read about other people's lives? On the internet, no less? They're nobodies. A bunch of pathetic nerds begging for papperrratzi I say (is that not spelled with three 'r's?

With that I'd like thank you for clicking my link. Prepare for disappointment.

Dear diary,
I spent 4 hours reading about investing again today. I'm taking in boatloads of information but for what? I've barely got anything to invest with. I've been playing poker for a whole year now and still at NL25 severely underolled (but very knowledgeable). So far all the low stakes threads have become very easy to decipher. At least I'm not stupid...

Up 1 buy-in today. One. One freakin buy-in from a sizzling variety of premium hands. Can't say that I played them all perfectly, but poker seems impossible. Oh well, I hope this is the last time I'll ever have to restart poker (deposit)
