Starting a blog on lp.net has been one of my new year's resolutions for this year. So we're almost 3 weeks into it and I think it's time to begin. For the record, I don't count some bonus whoring attempt from 2008 as a legitimate start of my blogger's career...
So, about me. I'm 21 and I'm currently on a gap year after 2 years of studying economics. Originally I had a beautiful plan of going to Thailand this year with some of my friends to grind there. Then we changed it to going to Brasil with just one friend. Then I went busto so farewell my plans, I'm stuck grinding in Poland living with my family.
The grind was pretty much a struggle before January. I was in debts and I couldn't make any decent profit. When I had a session in + I would lose it the next day and so on. Currently I'm up 10k in Jan, paid my debts and managed to earn a golden star on sharkscope so I'm pretty excited about that. But knowing how sensitive that shit is I captured it with a screen shot in case I will need a reminder of this achievement
But I'm not planning on grinding 180man sngs forever. The games become more and more reg infested and pushbotting 7-8hrs a day isn't that fulfilling nor giving a perspective of becoming REAL BALLA. But it's definitely the best option for a small bankroll, so I'm gonna stick to it for some more time and if I score some big tourney or grind up a decent roll I'm gonna jump into PLO for good.
The second big goal for this gap year is to lose weight. Working on it. Signed up to the gym some time ago and started running this week. Gonna have to force myself into some diet I suppose and that's the hardest part.
The last thing I wanted to say is that I am always pissed off at myself for dicking around on interwebs and not doing anything useful when I don't grind. So recently I came across this cool series of Neil deGrasse Tyson's series that is fun to watch and doesn't make me feel like I'm wasting time. There it is:
Well I realise this is not the greatest thread saver of all time, maybe I will search the web for some chicks next time. We'll see
Are you obese that you need to lose weight? Jogging will help then. If not, and you want to look "leaner" (more muscle/less fat) what you need to do is compound lifts at the gym 3x a week. Cardio is at best optional.

I dont think Im obese, but I sure have some overweight weighing 87kg being 180cm high. Basically my goal is to burn fat and flatten my stomach while my weight could remain the same tbh. Although probably about 10kg separates me from that goal

87 for 180 is good if you are 10%bf. Then what you need is a clean diet, squats, benches and deadlifts, not cardio. Check TL thread.

squats bench and deadlifts are perfect if you want to build up your strength but they arnt going to cut your weight too much. obviously any exercise = better than none but for fat loss and general toning id suggest some kind of high intensity cardio circuits with light weights and high reps. something like the spartacus workout is ideal.

HIIT is another valid alternative (running in intervals), but light weight/high reps is completely useless unless you are a pro bodybuilder with a tons of muscle, low body fat and just pumping yourself before an exibition.
I invite you to google "powerlifter", click images, and check how fucking muscular and ripped is anyone that doesn't compete in the highest weight classes. (from 105kg below)
Edit: had to edit just to beg you to don't do light weight/high reps, I hate watching people in my gym looking the same and not getting stronger year round.

GoTuNk is right. Heavy weight/low reps exercises produce more afterburn and stimulus for muscle growth (in that case it will help maintaining lean body mass while cutting weight + boost up the metabolism). And diet is what burns fat and low carb diets seem to be the best choice.
I recommend HIT training (not HIIT) - check bodybuilding.com for Dorian Yates videos series on HIT. Training that way (gym twice a week, 40minutes each session, heavy-ass weights to failure) I once lost 12 cm in belt while dropping only 3kgs. I kept semi-low carb diet (low carb + beans, lentiles). It was a road from 97 to 94kg (prolly about 17-20% bodyfat in the beginning). I am 192cm tall so that is not overweight.
I wouldn't quote menshealth in regard to nutritional and training advice tbh
