I dunno, just stuck in act IV at the battle vs the ancients quest. I'm not anywhere near being able to beat them with my Frenzy Barb. My strength is at like 205 or something, dext at 115, and been pumping the rest of the points into vital. Maxed out frenzy, axe mastery, double swing, and working on maxing out taunt for max dps. My armor and resistances are already solid, about 1400 armor and all resistances above 55 at least. I should have probably done my weapon mastery last since I am not getting any good nightmare axe drops at all, but I heard the axe class has the best one arm weapons.
My frost mage mercenary has been hangin out with me since normal mode and he's lvl 65 also with some good gear as well, increased his casting rate, he got max resists and solid armor.
but man fuuuuu, I'm guessing I got to just keep grinding beginning-mid act IV and hope someone drops a fkn good axe? Are drops completely random or do certain types of enemies tend to drop certain items?

I'm not sure, I just cleared everything real fast with no hiccups when I used to play it. |

You should keep reloading games until you see a weapon with high enhanced damage from the npcs. |

If you play single player you can never get good items for battle-characters. Best you can get are runewords. Well unless you get very high level. I tried D2 single player and the only char I could finish the game with was a hammerdin. Sorc I could get far but then the immunity-monsters destroyed me. |

btw what merc u using? my guess its u need to get 2nd act merc with good aura pick + get alot pink pots. Also life steal is nuts. |

ancients are in act V not IV ;p, farm eldrich/shenk/pindleskin till u find decent items, i see you havent maxed battle orders so it will be hard for you to do anything in hell, check arreat summit for runewords sametimes you can make very good items with cheap runes |

frenzy barbs are way under powered until you get some godly gear since this char class is so item dependent. nothing to do but grind the shit out of nm diablo/pindle till u get some decent drops.
btw if you're playing the hell unleashed mod then i can feel for u...pretty damn near impossible to solo that shit |

also imo the easiest char to beat D2 even in hell with on single player is necromancer~ (summoner build) obv |

Check online which runewords you can make with what you have and make a better weapon, also use act2 mercenaries they can get Defiance aura that boost your defense or the other one that slowdown your enemies. Even on single player, nightmare is really easy and as you are lvl 66 at least it's kinda weird that you are having troubles with that quest, maybe is your gear. |

yeah I have a lvl 71 necro summoner and makes nightmare seem like normal mode. Currently in act I of hell mode and I'm pretty sure I'm going to get owned in act 2 because of the bug cavern and arcane sanctum because of their skinny hallways. |
