well long time no blog
I havent really been playing poker consistently ever since FTP took my roll (live howard)
I was a slight winner at NL200 6max and after black friday I went to paradisepoker but I had to play NL50 coz I didnt have the bankroll for higher limits. I kinda lost motivation to regrind also the software tilted the shit out of me (no autorebuy?? you serial?). So I was playing there a few months, won a bit then stopped online poker.
I must say life is so much more happier and balanced when u dont have to force yourself to put in the grind, you dont have that depressing feeling in the morning because of the buyins lost last night. I could properly concentrate on university and myself.
But hey, we need that fucking money and since poker is much more easier and profitable than the regular student job that I could get here in Hungary I started playing live poker.
first of all, its outrageous how bad these guys are. There are some tighter ones but they are still pretty much clueless. Lot of people are not even here to win money. The diversities of the personalities are fun to observe. Everything is just so different from online. So far i put in 30 hours and considering that we play 20 hands/hour I got about 220bb/100 which is sick. Now i got all kind of questions to you live players.
Could 200bb/100 be normal for 1$/2$ live or its just a huge upswing?
I've heard that a guy like me got banned from another room because he was a constant winner. Could that really happen? I mean should I just deliberately make stupid moves and loud scenes to assimilate into the fish?
How do you prepare your minds for all the bullshit chat that goes on for hours? It honestly numbs me. I feel if I were to listen to music it would look really disrespectful also I would miss a lot of info.
Well thats all that comes into my mind now, feel free to add anything considering live poker (your experiences when you started?)
I appriciate all your comments

Take ACTIVE PART in the chat!!! Number 1 live tip non hand related. Make friends with the fish, after 4hours of talking they go "don't call, I really do have the nuts" and they are not lying :D
Was even a tale on here other week of a fish turning there cards over mid hand to prove he had the nuts to stop a LP'er calling. Or they'll give you cheap showdowns etc etc keep it friendly.
and yes variance |

lol is it a serious question ?
200bb/100 sustainable ? :D
It's impossible to know your true winrate but you are on a huge upswing
live the swings are crazy ... I've experienced a 16k€ upswing followed by a 8k€ downswing the next month @ 2/5€ (I've played 5/10 and 10/20 but I've breakeven , so the swings were at 2/5)
If you're serious , the games are really soft so basically you're printing money and your edge should prevent you from huge downswing.
It's a good idea to have a friend to play with.
but don't make the same mistake that I did , don't drink every fucking night because it's free :D
I was friend with all the regs , and when I say regs I mean old rich donk who play everyday.
It helps to understand how they think and you'll adjust better than they do.

Where do you play at? Have we met? :D
Seriously though, I've felt a lot like you when I first started playing live, fish chat would tilt the shit out of me... but then I realized that if I'm friendly and I manage to make them go on and on, it's easy to profit from it. Knowing how the live regfish thinks can help you a lot, considering how erratic their play is sometimes. There are at least 4 ppl per table I always sit with, no matter how rarely I drag my ass to playing live.
I've won 20 BIs last month in like 6 or 7 sessions, which averaged for around less than 4 hours per session. That's an insanely high upswing (biggest one to date for me), but it'll pass Kinda funny that I didn't even "run good" in the sense that I didn't win pots where I was the underdog - I just had some hands, hit with them, then took it down or got paid off (and when I put in the money ahead, it always held). That won't be the case forever |
