Sam always on queue. Bravo friend.

In all seriousness, name one fucking liberty that this bitch has actually lost. Exactly what has fucking changed in her day to day life since Obama was elected. What can she no longer do that she used to be able to do before? What can she no longer aspire to do? Her first and only example was what her church can and cant say. I can only assume this is in reference to gay rights since thats the only thing the fucking church cares about. Her fucking definition of liberty is the right to deny other people their liberties. How dare anyone not tolerate her church's right to intolerance.

the u.s. needs a reality check badly. i mean you JUST (2012) introduced something sort of resembling universal health care. FUCKING 2012. and it's like the most controversial thing. that's just LOL considering you're calling yourself the land of the free and the largest (as in best, i would assume) democracy in the world.

there is no clear point to be made. it's just super frustrating for every country outside the u.s. to stand by, watching this train wreck of a country dress itself in words like liberty, freedom or the leader of the free world. in 2010 you had more than 15 % POOR PEOPLE. more than 50 % of americans (aged 25-70+) will spend at least one year below the poverty line during their lifetime. that is fucking insane. also, you removed what can only be described as apartheid only some 40+ years ago. everything that has to do with the u.s. being the land of the free just fucking pisses me off, hence my last post and it not making any clear point.

i guess my point is something along the lines of: you live in a third world country that acts as if it is the definition of the opposite.

Fudyann   Netherlands. Jul 16 2012 05:48. Posts 704

I guess if you don't understand why universal healthcare could be controversial then yea it would seem like that.

I'm not choosing sides on this issue but I do see why it could be controversial. You're putting something as important as healthcare under bureaucratic control which isn't always as efficient as it could be. (which is not to say things aren't fucked if you don't, just saying it's probably right to think it through.) Maybe there are ways to achieve universal healthcare that do not involve the kind of bureaucratic control that is being advanced right now in the USA.

idonklife   Sweden. Jul 16 2012 07:04. Posts 182

universal health care doesn't = government health care. it just means health care is for free, basically. in sweden we have private health care and government health care. both "for free". but my point about the u.s. being a third world country is, as i've explained, not only about the health care plan or rather lack thereof. and judging by your reasoning, you're saying that the private health insurance system in the u.s. wasn't/isn't bureaucratic. i disagree completely.

who are you suggesting needs a reality check anyway? the majority of US citizens are aware that we've fallen behind japan/singapore/australia/most of europe/etc. in most standards of living. nobody is nationalistic or uses terms like "land of the free" in a non-sarcastic way except for really old white guys.

calling USA a third-world country is obviously retarded hyperbole but i'm sure you know that.

ehhh... sorry but this simply isn't true. nobody is nationalistic or patriotic? ron paul still gets flamed for saying the U.S. to some extent had itself to blame for 11/9, rather than claiming "they attacked us because we're free"- bull shit. maybe these flamers are really old white guys, but they are also mayors, senators etc.

also calling USA a third world country is not hyperbole and i'm not sure hyberbole could ever be retarded for that matter. this of course primarily if we by third world country mean lack of liberal democracy (USA is the most liberal democracy but the least democratic democracy) and simply put poor economic state. the only things you guys know how to do are make innovations and fight endless wars. how to run a country, government and society - not even close.

so basically you're saying "this simply isn't true", then saying "maybe this is true, but they're also mayors, senators etc." -_- i mean, no shit.

the use of hyperbole can certainly be retarded. there's a lot of f'd up countries. third-world generally applies to overall standards of living. do you really believe that the US is closer to places like Zimbabwe and Afghanistan than it is to Germany and Japan in terms of living standards?

1) i'm saying you and your friends might not reason as described by me, but the majority (as represented by senators, mayors, presidents et.c.) do.

2) hyperbole is by definition never retarded. why? because it's a fucking hyperbole.

3) well, no. third world countries are defined by economic growth, democratic development AND overall standars of living. but let's talk about germany and standards of living. in germany you pay ~35 % in taxes. for that everyone in the country gets "free": dental care, health care and optician treatment (i.e. subsidiesed glasses et.c.). and "free": school as in elementary school asw. as high school and college. (your parents get paid for you to study during elementary school and most of high school and then you get paid during remainder of high school and college.) and a lot more. what does everyone in your country get? you even have different taxation levels on foreigners and non-foreigners. that's fucking ridiculous.

Im not sure if you live in the USA, but where I live I can easily assure that most people in fact do NOT know that we've fallen behind every other 1st world nation when it comes to healtcare. I still remember chills going down my spine and almost slapping a ho where I work when I overheard her conversation with another employee. The two of them are diehard religious republican conservative types (as in, one of them has a "Palin for president 2012" sticker on her office wall. I overheard this fucking cunt one day actually exclaim that she's GLAD, FUCKING GLAD, that her child cannot remain on her insurance past the age of 22 or whatever, because she doesnt want her child "becoming lazy". Literally that was it. No conjecture, no, concluding sentence, she literally finished it just like that. "Becoming lazy". I didnt even know wtf she meant, other than some half-assed attempt at indicating that her college graduate child should immediately find work and get their own insurance for risk of being viewed as "lazy" if they are on their parents insurance.

This was of course before Obama's new law, but my god it took everything in me not to attack her. This is always my prime example of just how brainwashed many americans are, especially those who listen to "AM hate radio", which refers to all the talk show hate you hear on typical AM radio stations that bash Obama 24/7, and which serves as many republicans only source of news throughout the day. I'm pretty sure if I asked her to repeat what she just said she couldnt even do it, for she was doing nothing more than parroting what she hears Rush Limbaugh or whomever say 30 minutes ago. Trust me, these are definitely dark times in the USA, and do not assume that people arent 10x more stupid than you can ever imagine them to be.

1. saying the majority "as represented by senators etc." is misleading because officials are elected based on being the lesser of two evils, not because they are the ideal candidates. i have minimal interest in politics but from an outsider's point of view such as myself (and i think most would agree with me) it seems like it's probably close to impossible to get involved in politics on a national level without catering heavily to the bureaucracy. a few people may be ignorant of this but not on the scale you're implying. Congress approval rating is 16% http://www.gallup.com/poll/155720/Con...l%20Gallup%20Headlines%20-%20Politics

2. yeah, i think i clarified my point.

3. if you want to be technical, third world country doesn't refer to any of those things, it refers to countries that weren't aligned with either capitalism or communism during the cold war (although i admit i also use the term to refer to economic status/standards of living sometimes). anyway, i don't understand what you're trying to prove by talking about those German policies. i assume we would agree that Germany has better public policies and i don't doubt a better standard of living. when i asked about comparing the US to Germany/Japan and Zimbabwe/Afghanistan, i thought it was clear that i considered the US to be below the former and above the latter, so citing those policies seems pretty redundant. my question was which category you think the US is closer to.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Development_Index even going by the inequality-adjusted HDI that ranks the US significantly lower, it's pretty absurd to think of it as a developing ("third world" country.
