Looking for Tournament Coach

If anyone is interested, I am looking for a coach with Live tournament experience.

To make this a bit more friendly, here is some information about myself. My name is Tony. I am 26, a full time Fire Fighter with a large love for Poker. When I am not playing in tournaments I am reading through the handful of tournament poker books I have, highlighting important topics and trying to make my game better with every chance I get. My knowledge of the game is through the books I have read, reading forums (liquid poker/ 2plus2) and grinding 1/2 (live) games.

I was hoping there was someone out there with knowledge to offer and willing to help me get better as a tournament player and increase my knowledge of the game. I typically play at my local casinos entering 100$-300$ tournaments, between 5-10k stacks, blinds start 25/50 and between 25-35 minute blind levels. It isn't the best format but it's all I have. I have found some success making the final table abut 50% of the tournaments I play in. There are a lot of errors I know I make and a lot of areas in tournament play I know could be greatly improved upon.

If anyone decides to contact me we can go over pricing and any additional coaching information.

I realize majority of players today are online but I thought I would give this a shot. It couldn't hurt to ask. :D

Thank you for taking the time to read this and reply if you chose to do so.

Respectfully,

Ynot :D

Might want to start reading turbo and super turbo strategy if that is the structure you're going to be mostly playing. Begin memorizing push/fold charts to optimize your short stack strategy. If you can avoid playing these(if you are looking to play profitably and not for fun),I definitely would. 30 minute blinds means you get about 15-20 hands at 100 bb's, 15-20 hands at 50 bb's, so on and so forth.

Combine this with the huge juice live tourneys charge(20-25% of buyin cost sometimes), it is extremely tough to show long term variance free profit. I recommend sticking to cash or switching to online tourneys where the structures are much more reasonable and allow for much more play

I agree with Carthac wholeheartedly, if the tourney situation you described wasn't bad enough, the lower buyin tourneys in Hungary have even worse structure. Needless to say, I avoid them like the plague (rake is also very high, and the payout structure is pretty bad as well).

I think you would benefit in getting better at cash, and maybe try higher buyin tourneys later when your bankroll allows if you love them that much. Those tend to have better (deeper) blindstructures I think?

My favourite line is Bet/Fold. I bet, you fold.Last edit: 31/08/2012 18:46

PM'd.

I think beating superturbos like these is pretty easy if you derive some ranges in SNGWiz. Just be careful with the range inputs cuz live players have weird thought processes (think retarded bubble spitecalling).

It's sorta a mediocre winrate w/ superhigh variance though..
