After really taking all of your comments into consideration and doing more research, I have decided to keep my current car and when it dies purchase another reliable used card. Also with my savings for an auto, I will put it into my future home purchase which is a much better investment.
I really appreciate the input as well as the facts posted on my blog to make a really informed decision.
I'd rather be someone who can retire 10 years earlier than a guy who is working 2 jobs at 70 while hoping he dies soon.

lol good choice. stick to what you can honestly afford. owning nice looking cars only look and feel good if you are indeed truly wealthy. but if you're a real car nut who just lives and dies for cars and dont mind scrimping for everything else then it's fine. |

It's not that I can't afford it, it's what I can potentially spend that on... |

Whats going to happen is you're going to be that 45 year old guy driving the sports car "when you can afford it" while us young kids laugh at you for trying so hard to make up for lost pussy. |

conversely he could also be rich old guy living life laughing at young guys' (who can't afford) sports cars thinking they're so fucked when they turn 40 and broke with nothing to show for other than memories of tight pussy 20 years ago. lol |

Your definition of "afford" comes into play here:
Definition 1 - having enough for a down payment and using a lease, financing, or some other method our consumerist society has to help you drive the car off the lot and legally own it
Definition 2 - being comfortable with 100k in the bank and 5k a month income and thinking it's fine to spend ~50% of your net worth on a depreciating asset
Definition 3 - some insane amount of bank / investments / house / etc. that personal finance nits recommend before you buy anything more than a 91' honda civic for 1k (whoosel help w/ this definition pls)
-
I think for most normal people it's probably best to find a spot somewhere in between 2 and 3 that you're comfortable with.
