Hi,
my friend is looking for a position within financial services industry in London. He studied in London School of Economics. Anyone knows anyone who could help him find his dream job?

Internet is pretty good at this kind of thing I think. No, I'm not being sarcastic. Also, if he just finished studying at a London school, wouldn't he be the best prepared w/ regard to contacts to finding good leads in that specific field?
Or is he a supremely inverted couch-potato? |

Well to be honest I don't think we were being rude so theres no need to be back. I mean perhaps we should have just said nothing. But short of someone in here being or knowing some really high up in a firm and be willing to do a huge favour for a friend of someone he doesnt know I dont know what you expected. if he got a good degree from lse that he needs he should be able to get interviews where he applies. |

4 of my friends graduated last year all from durham all with 2:1's so assuming your friend got a 2:1 also then its better from LSE than durham. All 4 of them got jobs in finance within 2 months of graduating by just going on the websites and applying. Hope this helps. |

Wow, you got pretty emo. And I literally wasn't trying to be a smart-ass, was simply stating the obvious. Anyways, good luck to your friend. |

<Insert a joke about food being worse than the weather in UK>
Anyway....
Thanks for replies guys, but seriously I have a masters degree from LSE, you guys should give me a bit more credit I do know how you go around looking for a job in financial services, the thing is that I was not successful applying for grad schemes etc and am no longer eligible to use my university's careers services.
Was actually quite close to landing a job at Goldman, JP Morgan and BarCap, but in the end didnt get any offers after the last round. Since then I had a hard time even getting interviews, despite large number of applications that I sent.
What I am looking for now is a direct contact with a decent recruiter or name of a good recruitment agency. A good recruiter can help a lot with a job search, but so far I had the luck of only finding one like that.
I doubt anyone will have such contacts here or be willing to share them. I did not ask MadeInPoland to create this thread. He has just seen my post on FB and took the effort to post that here, so I decided I might as well come and add something to the thread. |
