My mom's kindle was tilting the shit out of her. She would order stuff from amazon and it wouldnt show up in her library, its a simple device with no buttons and hard to get used to and she preferred reading on her ipad so she gave it to me. Since then i've read 7 books and can barely put the thing down.

books ive read:
hunger games trilogy - was an enjoyable and quick read.

ready player one: http://www.amazon.com/Ready-Player-One-Ernest-Cline/dp/0307887448
awesome book. it was basically like someone combined the 1980s with an MMORPG. would recommend any nerd who knows anything about the 80s to read it.

Ender's Game: http://www.amazon.com/Enders-Game-Orson-Scott-Card/dp/0765342294
Really disappointed that 12 year old Daut never read this book. But very glad 28 year old Daut finally discovered it.

Speaker for the Dead: http://www.amazon.com/Speaker-Dead-Ender-Book-2/dp/0812550757
The sequel to Ender's Game. Well kind of the sequel. The author later decided to add lots of prequels and interquels so there are a few books that take place in between, but this is the next book he wrote in the series and I have decided to skip over most of the others. Loved it even more than Ender's game.

Xenocide: http://www.amazon.com/Xenocide-Ender-Book-Orson-Scott/dp/0812509250
the third book in the Ender's game series. its somewhat different than the first two, its turned very philosophical and talky but I love it. I have never been as infuriated with characters in a work of fiction as I am with this book and I think thats a good sign. I imagine most people who read Ender's Game either stopped after the first or second book and never reached the third. Def worth continuing forward.

My february reading list is the last few books in the Ender's game series. Children of the Mind and whatever comes after that in the main ender series. Then I will probably move on to some nonfiction works.

my nonfiction reading list:
Fooled by randomness: http://www.amazon.com/Fooled-Randomness-Hidden-Chance-Markets/dp/0812975219
A universe from nothing by Lawrence Krauss: http://www.amazon.com/dp/1451624468
The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins: http://www.amazon.com/God-Delusion-Richard-Dawkins/dp/0618918248

you guys recommend anything else that falls into line with the books ive been reading? or any recommendations whatsoever,im on pace to read about 85 books this year so probably have time for just about everything

Any review on the kindle ? is it good to read there, etc... im looking on buying a tablet, but still not sure if get a 7" or 10", reading is one of the reasons to buy one, but not sure if 7" would be enough.

About the books.

Ender's game movie is coming this year, i haven't read it yet but i have some of the books of the series, im trying to collect all first and read at least ender's game before the movie comes out.

If you are reading sci-fi people say hyperion cantos by dan simmons is a must.

A Song of Ice and Fire series ofc(aka Game of Thrones on HBO)

Lot of the characters are much different than their on-screen counterparts

I also loved Enders Game and I recommend the following based on that.

Everything by Robert Heinlein, especially starship troopers

The Forever War by Joe Haldeman

Armor by John Steakley

The Forever War is kind of a critique to Starship Troopers, it's a great novel it's own right, but I think reading Starships Troopers and The Forever war immediately after is incredibly mental stimulation for the reader

mine seems like its about 8 inches. i dont have a tape measure but it seems smaller than 10 but larger than 7. maybe 7 refers to just the window size?

i heard enders game is coming out this year, pretty excited even though it will be very hard for them to make movies out of the sequels and some of the scenes in the movie will be tough to recreate.

what books did you buy? just the main storyline or the prequel/interquels as well?

I think kindle only has 7" and 8.9" from what you said i guess is 8.9

Im trying to get all the books but so far i have found or bought this:

Xenocide, Children of the Mind, Shadow of the Hegemon, Ender's Game. My problem is that i read in spanish, so getting some of the titles is more difficult as some of them are out of print (one of the reasons i want to get a tablet/reader), next week im gonna get Shadow of the Giant.

There's a lot of long talks about the "A Universe from nothing". So saw a bunch of those instead of reading it lol.

And the God Delusion I stayed away from since a few mates who read all the time said it was boring and predictable. Much more fun to look through anything you can find from Hitchen on youtube, even those long debates. He goes in much more detail, sharp, and is a "violent" version of Dawkin.

Not that good with fiction books, I "never" read them for some reason.

So don't really have anything to recommend lol, I've just read a lot of self improvement books lately, and you won't get anything from them since ur all level headed and awesome. And I still have a few chapters left in the Thinking Fast And Slow book, never used such a long time on a book, just so difficult to read. So wasn't as enjoyable, and there are great summaries of the book instead of reading through over 500 pages, where you constantly have to keep checking up words (maybe x10 more fun if you already have a rich vocabulary and don't have to do that lol).

Here's a nice recent summary, with pictures lol. It got posted a few days ago, so really fresh:

Some book's I've had in the back of my mind that I want to read is the one about Willpower, and I think the other one something about Applied intelligence, both sound pretty awesome.

Also seen some podcasts, Joe interviewing Tim Ferris, so a little interested in maybe reading through his books. But the "4 hours" thingy seem a bit gimmicky, like a market ploy, maybe a little too mainstream LOL. But sounds pretty cool (what suckered me in was when I found out in his chef book, he was using George st pierre's diet, dissecting it).

How does it feel to read on a tablet? Do you get any eyestrain at all? I know the kindle made strides to be readable by using a monochrome LCD screen and all of that initially, then they felt they had to go full color so it didnt look like an outdated piece of crap next to the ipad. I tried reading a book on my Nexus tablet once and it strained the fuck out of my eyes and I couldnt do it. I have 20/20 vision so it's not like there was any outside interference with glasses or anything. Is the kindle backlit LCD like somehow easier on the eyes than an ipad?

bye now

Check out Ender's Shadow and the books which follow Bean, felt like that series was better than everything after Ender's game. Other good sci-fi's you would probably like would be Old Man's War by John Scalzi.

dunno if that fits in your genre ideas, but I likedThe Perks of being a wallflower (it is very short, but very good)

'edit'

oh, from what I gather, It's about friendship

'edit'

Sounds boring, but great book!

'edit'

maybe as a foreigner, I was indeered by the simple language it was written in. (Simple in the sense of a child writing, not a stupid person) (not that a child wrote it, but it is written from a young adults perspective)

theres a bit of eye strain. reading the letters is very easy, but the back light on the tablet is a bit too bright as you said. of course you can change the settings to make it darker but then the words are a bit too dull. hard to find the right balance with it.

its also pretty difficult to read outside. the glare and outside light makes it pretty rough.

but overall i much prefer reading on the kindle to reading a book. its not awkward to hold the book, theres a built in dictionary so you can look up any word you dont know, and you can highlight and take notes on parts and bring up those passages at any time.
