Well I usually make these drunk post that end up being worthless. This one might be too, but I think I have something worth considering.
The relationship between music and your mental state of mind.
Many pepole listen to music without considering that it might effect your consciousness. I have often listened to genres of music and felt hyped, violent.
The fact that plants grow well with the supplement of classical music and badly with other forms of modern music suggests something to me.
In ancient Greece there were laws about the melody or wherther or not the music was acceptable or not.
The rise in shit music is everywhere around me inharmonious generally irritating music seems to permeate my everyday life and I have to seclude myself from it.
Pythagoras was especially vocal about this issue and considered stringed instruments to be the best form of sound.

It is often said stringed instruments (violin, viola, cello) most closely resemble the human voice. This could be where Pythagoras was getting this notion. I agree music can create your mindset, and before playing I try to listen to music that gets me in the headspace to think quickly and I try to pick songs that have lyrics like (cannot break me, don't be afraid, one left standing, win or lose, won't back down, etc) to get my mental toughness up.

I agree. Music therapy is real. It boils down to good music is literally good vibrations that the mind, body and soul can truly feel. I agree with the strings too. Best MUSIC concert I have been to was world class symphony in world class venue playing music I was familiar with and loved. There is something very primal and very human in regards to drumming, chanting, dancing, rhythm, melody, poetry.

I just had a vision of a pretty cool concert experience. World class symphony in a world class venue but slip everyone molly, no dress code, no seating. Dancing + chanting + losing oneself in the experience encouraged.

When I used to play poker a lot more, I made a play-list of a solid amount of ambience music. Only purchases I've ever made at the itunes store in my life.

I used to listen to the standard rock'n'roll, sometimes heavier stuff - but I noticed it absolutely affected my state-of-mind, and would sometimes lead me to being an over-aggro monkey ass. Listening to the much more soothing, gentler ambience music made a very noticeable difference on my 'game' back in the day.

"The fact that plants grow well with the supplement of classical music and badly with other forms of modern music suggests something to me."

Mythbusters apparently did a segment on this and had the opposite result: http://mythbustersresults.com/episode23

"The greenhouses with the recordings of speech grew better than the control, regardless of whether such talk was kind or angry. The plants in the greenhouse with the recording of classical music grew better, while the plants in the greenhouse with the recording of intense death metal grew best of all."

Oh and Enigma's post was really funny.

fuck I should just sell some of my Pokemon cards, if no one stakes that is what I will have to do - lostaccount

He preferred them because they were most closely related to the pure vibration of the universe. His favorite was the lute been hard to find any lute music.

So in a sense yes you are right but he didn't like vocals but the Greeks considered the voice to be the most perfect of all instruments so.
I would also agree about the vocals passing into your subconscious.

Been meaning to make this post for a while wish I didn't do it drunk now.

That could indeed be the case and it's not something I have researched. Not sure about using mythbusters as the source though.
