Hi all,
long time I posted somethinh on Liquidpoker, although I frequently visit the website (especially the ROFL topic en spets1's blog).
I quit poker more than a year ago and I am now a kind of entrepreneur and I am in the middle of developing an online football (soccer) game. For this game I need reliable football statistics for the major competitions in Europe.
Of course I already did some internet research and found some interesting websites, like stats.com and soccerway.com, but I was wondering whether you might know some good websites for this info.
Thanks in advance!

thanks for the responses, but I am afraid I was not completely clear. I meant statistics which are being updated each playing round, with the latest scores, line ups etc. |

Funny thing is that like yourself I am also an entrepreneur and I have looked at this with great details for a project that I was doing preliminary study for.
There are only a few companies that takes stats of games. And these stats are only for the top flight leagues.
The major ones are Opta and enetpulse.
Almost all the football sites like Soccerway, goal.com and all the gambling sites use these feeds for their stats. There are also some software used by teams themselves to analyze the games. Checkout amisco.eu or prozonesports and tracab.
If you are just looking for aggregates stats of major games for reference try WhoScored.com, which is by far making the most use of the Opta data and it is also presented in a really nice way.
If you are wondering how these companies get the data. Its a combination of image processing and crowdsourcing. Meaning they have sometime people watching a player and counting how many times Iniesta touches the ball during the 90mins of a game. So you can even think about crowdsourcing this urself if it comes down to it. |
