Release of CO2 into atmosphere.

CO2 is food for plants. Plants is food for everything else. In order to have a sustainable earth - what we have now, there has to be a constant supply of CO2.
Read up on Carbon cycle. Carbon is stored underground - in biomass, organic matter in sediments, and in carbonate rocks like limestone. It's stored as oil.

The only way it gets out now is volcanoes, cracks in earth’s crust etc. This is clearly not sustainable.

So the Earth has come up with a solution. It evolved a social mammal - Human.
Humans started to dig up and slowly, sustainably release carbon back into atmosphere. This way plants have food to grow.

If not for us - carbon gets stored under ground. All plants have no food to grow. Carbon gets eaten up and fucks up the carbon cycle (CO2 is also greenhouse gas that keeps earth warm when sun's not shining).

Or worse, all that carbon gets stored under earths crust as fuel. We get hit by a meteorite, or have a massive supervolcano, or a tectonic plate movement and everything blows up in one huge explosion.
We get hit by smoke storms and go into ice age.

Thus the earth has evolved our eyes to like these babes so we keep procreating and defuse earth in process.
