Do you guys think personal training is worth it? I'm looking at the rates around me, and they seem really overpriced.
I'm looking into it because I want to start working out, but I don't know how to do the exercises properly / with proper posture. It would be difficult going to the gym and not knowing wtf to do.

I went to see one today, he charges
$200 for a working routine / plan
$200 for nutrition plan
and $50 / session
He seems like he knows what he's doing - he's gold medalist in natural body building. but this seems INSANELY overpriced.. |

No need to pay for the nutrition and routine plan imo, can easily just look up all that stuff on the internet. Once you find a program that's tailored to your needs, just look up the exercises on youtube. Or, just go in with your plan and pay for a few sessions with a trainer to get your technique right. You'll also pick up a lot by seeing how other people do stuff. |

If you're not socially dysfunctional just go to some gym and ask someone bulked to show you how to do the exercise he's doing.
People really don't mind if you're nice. |

Youtube cross fit if you dont know what it is. Brief break down would be, expensive gym imo at around 120$ a month. But its a group atmosphere type workout where in a way you are competing against the guy next to you. Keeps you entertained and its hard as fuk. Fast results too. |

i think the best way is to order the Starting Strength book http://aasgaardco.com/store/store.php?crn=210&rn=323&action=show_detail (i've heard the DVD is really helpful too but i don't have it, and there's a bunch of it on youtube anyway). it goes into a lot of detail (sometimes cumbersome and boring) about how to perform all the main compound barbell exercises correctly as well as some good assistance exercises for each.
then if you want, take a video of yourself doing the exercises and post them for people to critique your form on an exercise forum somewhere. i assume bodybuilding.com is by far the most popular, imo 2p2's health and fitness forum is also worth checking out: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/85/health-fitness/ - i don't post there but you can learn a lot by reading and they have a "form check" thread too. If you're relatively "untrained" (not necessarily fat) it's best to start out with a simple program anyway and you don't need a trainer for that. imo 95% of nutrition, at least in terms of getting leaner/stronger/ripped/whatever you want to call it, is really simple and for almost everyone just involves eating a lot more protein than they're used to (+veggies and plenty of water) and adjusting carbs/fat intake based on your goals (what you're bodyfat% is at, what you want it to be, how fast you want to get there, etc). |

If you have the money, get the trainer, great investment.
Even if you knew how to do the exercises, he's gonna perfect your technique and push you much harder than you will ever push yourself.

shouldnt there be some employe in a gym to help/show you how to do proper exercises
it's overpriced... esp because you are beginner... you can easily find everything you need online
find/download some of this dvd's like p90x or rushfit.. you can try it from your home (for free lol... thx piratebay) and in a few weeks you will have idea how to do things in a right way as all programs have proper explanations.. or just search youtube (easy way) + it will help you get in a form (not a bad way to start) |

Those prices are ridic, also "natural" bodybuilding is full of steroids fwiw. Dont you have a trainer at the gym to give you a starting program? even a crappy one will get you started in the right path. Also why is crossfit being recommended to someone that never even been to a gym? that shit is intense. |

i think its a must when you are a total beginner to get a personal trainer for the first few times, if you go by yoursself you just fuck around and not effective at all
when i started i paid 3x1 hours (20$/h) for the local pt in the gym and he showed me what and how to do the exercises properly and how to use the machines, also made a workout plan
starting working out was one of my best decisions ever. you get less stress, get a healthy and good looking body, so much more confidence with girls |

depends on your goals, if you wanna get big and muscular you should take steroids
if you want to improve your cardio ,strength and improve your general health, that takes a lot of work
Steroids have a bad rep in the media, the best athletes in most sports use steroids or some form of testosterone replacement therapy, or if they are cardio athletes they dope blood
moral of the story, most people cheat if they can get away with it
nothing wrong with cheating, I don't judge people - I appreciate the hustle |

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same | |

All you need to know as a beginner
Steroids work like magic, but you nead to learn how to lift first (if that floats your boat)
Every male over 30-35 should be on testosterone replacement therapy
Thats how hollywood actors keep young in their 40-60 (Tom Cruise doesn't age WTF) |

def dont take steroids until you trained for couple of years, then you might ask some who knows the stuff to write some solid steroid cycling for you. also avoid oral usage. |

I can't imagine taking steroids. i'm sure the athletes who use them get closely observed by there doctors. (and didn't Zyzz die from heart problems, caused by steroid use) . My goal isn't to be big, like bloated looking. I just want to gain weight, and lean muscle.
fyi, I weighed myself for the first time in years. I'm 6'2 and ~156 pounds. I'm so skinny! 11.8% body fat. reason why I'm so skinny is because I don't have much of an appetite (thx to anti-depressants), and I apparently have the metabolism of a 12yo.
I've been trying to eat while feeling full, and I drink like 5 liters of milk a week. It's tough gaining weight! |

I bought lots of supplements that loco suggested, years ago. should help
Also IDK how people eat / prepare meals 4-5 times a day. feels like a full time job, along with working-out. but i'll try, since I've got nothing better to do right now. |
