Your job sounds fun, acually! It reminds me of real estate appraisal analysis... but im probably off.

Does credit analysis have any similarities to the analysis done on a hud?

The sims thing is funny. I'm curious if theres an easy application online for doing something like that.

Good read, I played with you couple months back at 16nl but I think you were just messing around in the micros haha, super sincere and real LP support member.

convo went something like this:
me: yo djforever from LP
djforever: yeah do I know you?
me: nah just seen some of ur posts
djforever: np man, if you need any help or advise on some hands feel free to PM me!

I was thinkin what a sincere mofo, you don't get much players like these who came from the bottom and now be playing high stakes and still be down to earth and offer support to lower stakes players.

much RESPECT homey!

longple: ur missing the point! this is an attempt to get away from the bumhuntmentality!

I do remember that, I think I was configuring my HUD at the time. But yeah I was serious I don't mind if people send me hands. For hold'em I'm sure I'm not the best person to contact but for some of the mixed games I'm sure I can help out.

nice update, glad things are going well.

out of the non-NLHE games you mentioned, which do you think is most viable for someone to grind from lowstakes to midstakes+ in a relatively linear fashion? (taking into account traffic, edges, and whatever else)

also, in some of these games where you get lots of cards, how concerned are you about collusion?

That's pretty tough for me to answer, I never grinded my way up any of the non NLHE games. I basically just hopped into the 10/20 or 30/60 games for every format and just tried to get experience by playing, so I honestly have no idea how any of the lower stakes games are played. I would recommend playing the 8game mixes at the lower levels though if you want to learn all of the games. If you'd rather learn one at a time, Razz or Stud are probably the easiest to get a good handle on. I don't know what the traffic is like during the day because I work then, but at night games always seem to run. Edges are probably easier to find in the simpler games, but smaller overall.

I basically learned the games in this order: Razz -> Stud -> Stud8 -> O8 -> Tdraw. I chose this order because Stud8/O8 felt a lot more complicated to me and Razz/Stud were very easy to pick up on my mistakes. I probably play Razz and O8 the most now of any of the games. My approach was to basically dive in and got a lot of hands in, figure out spots I was losing money in and adapt accordingly. Then I started to run situational numbers to see what my odds were in certain spots that people were making thin raises. I paid a lot of attention to the higher stakes games and the games I played and took note of how the winning players were playing the game with their holdings, I also started discussing hands and situations with a few people who I felt were very strong players. I would basically play every game that ran and play up to 8 tables of a game type at a time (This was back when I played for a living obviously). I'm a big advocate of diving in and getting the first hand experience as opposed to watching videos or reading books. I used books and videos for the basics of O8 and Stud8, but had to learn first hand how people adjusted to me, and how I should properly adjust back. I'm sure I could've utilized these tools a bit better to improve faster but I enjoyed my approach.

I'm not really concerned about collusion at all to be honest. Maybe I'm just naive. I know quite of a few of the players I play against on a daily basis and a lot of the player pool have been around since I started playing years ago.
