Hey guys!

I did a blogpost in the beginning of the year asking for advice if I should take a semester abroad in London, Canada (NOT England). I thank everyone who said I should, I've now been here for a month and I'm very pleased with everything!

So this weekend me and some other exchange-students will go to Toronto (~2,5h drive) Friday-Sunday. Tips on what to do during this fairly short visit? Sadly there wont be any NHL-games during this time.. I guess we will do some basic tourist stuff like CN-tower, and what more?

I'm a big fan of asian food, so maybe a visit to the "chinatown" of Toronto, any solid restaurant recommendations (doesnt necessarily have to be asian, I heard about "little italy" as well) ?

And what clubs should we aim for during this weekend?

Really enjoying Canada! If some fellow LPers happen to be in Toronto/London during this time give me a PM!

On another note, when the finals exam are done here in mid December I dream of going to British Colombia or similar to snowboard until I go home 29 December. Havent really met anyone here that's also up for it so if you are planning a trip there/got experience of the area I would greatly appreciate any input.

Might as well check out Niagara falls. Btw, there's a pretty kick ass ohl team (london knights) in the city you're in - you should check that out sometime.

edit - how much disposable cash do you have for your boarding/skiing trip in BC? It can be pretty pricey. I have a buddy who is semi-management at one of those places, I can ask him how much it'd cost for xyz.

CN tower isn't anything special and the elevator costs you like 20 bucks or something stupid.

Visit the China town in Toronto for sure. Particularly the Kensington Market, which is within the China Town. For food, it's quite streetfood-esque, but I recommend Seven Lives, which serves Californian style fish tacos. It's like the hottest taco place in Toronto. Even if you may not enjoy fish, unless you are a squeamish son of a bitch who won't try stuff, you should be able to easily enjoy their shit because none of it is really fishy at all. You could also go for some Jamaican stuff, few doors down from Seven Lives is the Rasta Pasta. Their jerk chicken is the best shit ever. Other stuff is good too but get the chicken.

Protip: If you gonna go to Seven Lives, try to go there around 3-4pm. It's when they are least busy. Otherwise the line up can be pretty long, although it's certainly worth it.

Since you are coming on a weekend, if you are suave and good at making friends I suggest you check out the bar; Cold Tea. It's right near the two restaurants I mentioned. It's a bit of a bitch to find because there's no sign or anything. But ask the people around there and you'll find it easily. It's a nice bar, good atmosphere and it can get pretty wild during the weekend. The bartenders are skilled, I recommend trying their cocktails. Don't know any? That's fine, ask them that you know nothing about cocktails and that you want something nice. They'll whip you something cool. If they got cucumber or cilantro, ask them if they can make something nice with those. Unless they got a beardy bartender who's fucking ass, they'll make you something nice. Don't bother if it's the beardy bastard. Either know the name of the drink you wanna order or just get beer.

>must order spring rolls. Not those fuckin healthy ones where you see through the rice wrapper, but the deep fried motherfuckers

Little Italy is pretty cool, I believe it has quite the night life scene there, between a lot of bars and shit. I never really been to many of them cuz ima loser, but the Mod Club was pretty cool. Pretty big, and nice in there.

Oh, Kengsinton restaurants mentioned above pretty much all close around 8pm. The whole goddamn neighborhood does (minus the bars). The Chinese restaurants are open like 24/7 tho. I do strongly recommend checking out Kensington, by far. Little Italy also not far from China town.

If you are going to the CN tower, the only way to do it is drop $200 and book edgewalk

The best way to enjoy the height and view of cn tower. Seriously, you won't regret it and obviously it is 99.9% safe.

Rofl have you been to Schwartzs in montreal? Caplansky's sucks

Yes I have been to schwartz or else I wouldn't have said Caplansky's being the best. It is not even close. Caplansky's also has a good selection of mustards and condiments, very good true jewish side orders and other plates, decent beer options and is not an overpacked shithole.
