Herro everybody, pretty self explanatory thread here. I was just wanted to hear from those who have experience grinding live no limit cash games nowadays on a consistent basis and see what everyone has to say about there win rates and what their win rates could potentially be. I am very lucky to have a small card room that is only a 10 minute drive from my house where they have card tables for black jack, three card poker, and pai gow poker and also have another section for a bunch of limit hold em tables a couple plo tables and a couple no limit cash game tables where it's actually 1, 2, and 3 blinds (person on the button has to put in a one dollar blind, small blind is 2, and big blind is 3).

Not only is the game very close by, but the whole card room is extremely soft, every time I look around I could easily be the only in there that's not older than mid thirties. The atmosphere is also extremely friendly and there are a bunch of regulars but not the kind of regulars that just grind all day and listen to their I Pods, but regulars who are there almost every week just to hang out, crack jokes, and play a little gamble. From other sites I've visited I've read people reporting win rates from 20$/hr - 40$/hr from NL 1/2 and of course people reporting ridiculous win rates probably from heaters.

In a nutshell, what's everybody's win rate?, at what live stake?, how often do you guys play?, what do you think is a reasonable win rate in a soft environment?, etc.

I think a ton depends on how deep stuff play.

I have a even smaller "casino" close by and when I play 20/20 SEK (like 2/4 USD or something) PLO I feel that my winrate is just retarded whenever people play a few 100bb's deep, anything below 40bb is just horrid even if ppl suck because of the rake. In the NL games buy ins are capped at 200bb's and I think that kind of hurts a fair bit, but on the other hand you have clearer edges pre vs the 40bb limpfishes which makes it slightly less annoying.

Also my sample size is far to small.

Rake is the only problem because it is relatively high ESP the lower the limit. A good game can overcome the rake though so look for those.

No one can tell you what your winrate is not even close. You won't make 40/hr at 1/2 though. Prob not even 20.

Where do you play where is this card room located. Sounds like California

the rake and the buyin range (min buy to max buy) are pretty important pieces of info you did not include

Norcal/bay area region. Always good games on, but yeah I'd be happy with 20-30$/hr at nl 1/2/3, since I look at it as mostly just a hobby anyways. Don't know if it's profitable to play limit hold em while on the waiting list for the no limit games

I think the agreed upon average is about $15-20/hr.

nice i live in san mateo and i grind at Lucky Chances regularly. I have a feeling these are particular good rooms out of anywhere in the US. Where do you play in particular? LC takes a drop with no flop which sucks and the oaks doesn't do this but i still don't go there.

Agree, can make slightly more if you play slightly better but 15-20 sounds right.

poker is soooo much easier when you flop sets

depends hugely on the players, 20-40 is def doable, live players have no idea but some of them are tight and know how to fold

Hey, I can answer pretty good on this!!

In april I went to Grand Canaria, and I played live there. The casino was 2-5e, you could buy in for minimum 200, and there was no cap to how much you could buy in for.

I logged everything in a big black book. Wrote down how much I won each day, things I did good, and potential leaks.

I played 21 days the first month, around 100 hours. And the roll got up to 8700e (started on 1000e) for a profit of 7800, that made my hourly 78e an hour.

The next month I only played 7 days because I was very sick, and only made like 800e.

The tables were very soft, you had the standard super fish here and there, and the regulars were extremely timid/nitty, so playing loose vs them was awesome, they folded a lot.

I did get staked to play and travel there though, Dokosoko is kind.

1/2 NLHE @ Harrah's New Orleans is hands down the BEST game in a 1000+ mile radius. You'll often see tables with multiple $1000+ stacks gambling and playing SUPER fishy.

My hourly in that game was around $35 that year, which I believe was an insanely good/unsustainable run. It's hard for me to imagine averaging anything over $40/hr in any other 1/2 game.

I'd say $20/hr is a VERY solid winrate over the long term in your average 1/2 game (A friend of mine has pulled in $28 over 2+ years and he's easily the best player around those games).

I've been playing poker mostly as a hobby (used to play online 2-3 years ago mostly nl30-100 made a few K, nothing big) and lately I've been thinking of taking poker more serious, games in my city suck cuz they rake too much, so lately I've been driving to Tucson, Arizona (4 hours drive from home) to Casino del Sol, I stay there for 2-3 nights, you get a free room (nice hotel btw) when you play poker for 5hrs+ a day, so far I've a sample of 130 hours @nl200 in which I've won 4.2k.

I could say I've been running good but really not that great, its just that field is very soft and I always feel like I am the best player at the table (no ego, I just think I've a better approach to the game than the average player) mostly play vs 50yrs+ pals who like to play limped pots and tell jokes.
I want to know how many hours sample you need to get a reliable winrate playing live? how much is this a heater or it isn't.
anyway that's my experience so far.

A few years ago when I was playing at the Vic in London, I made a few friends, and got told that some of the old nits have been supporting their family for ages just grinding the 1-2 tables, there are about 10 - 15 of them, and they are extremely bad, only waiting for premium cards. But they win money from tourists, and people who just give them action when they shouldn't.

Can't imagine they are making that much, but it's something xD

lol I probably know 10 of those grinders in the Vic. And yes they're horrible.

Look at his hand and equities, what do you expect him to have here, uno cards? - TianYuan

my live poker winrate this year is around 50 big blinds per hour : o

(played 1-2 nights per week since March)

200nl now (used to be 100nl), very deep game - everybody sucks, they give away their hand every hand so best style to play is High Stakes Poker season 1 poker, but they are not stupid enough to give HU bumhunters action online (they told me they know whats going on)

I won the most when the game got 2-4 handed during the night (and people often got a bit drunk). Some people can play allright at 20.00, but can be super horrible at 04.00. One of the biggest fish acctually becomes a NIT when he is drunk ! (lolol)

One thing that I don't understand is why casinos seem to only have the 9/10 max tables. Wouldn't they rake more money with 6max tables? I'd go a lot more if the local casino offered 6m

it's pretty commonly accepted that if you're crushing the game you'll be making ~10x big blind per hr.

Assuming that most people can't crush i'd set the line at significantly less than that. And if you add on the huge rake + tips from the live games it would hurt your bottomline even further.

I'd be surprised if most people could sustain 20$/hr from 1/2 live games.

Yomer speaks the truth. I'd say 10-20$ is a good range for a winning player at live 1/2. But if you are playing in california with a flat drop of 5$ regardless of pot size, it will be very difficult to beat the game for that amount. Probably 5 to 10 per hour. They will almost be raking one players stack off the table every hour you play so you will need a monstrous edge.

I think if you play 1/3 in Vegas where you can buy-in for 500$ and the rake is like 10% up to 4$, you can probably make 20-35$/hr since it plays similar to 500$ cap 2/5 games (maybe a little bit smaller). But it obviously depends greatly on the table.
