I'd rather not go into too much because I am really pissed right now.

But I got pulled over by a cop 2 months ago. She said all I needed to do was show up in court and that it was a no fine thing. I've been really busy and made the mistake of not showing up.

I get notice in the mail today of a massive fine amount + interest. What to do? I can't go into speak with anyone either on the phone or at the admin building because it is the weekend. But I'm going to try and speak with anyone I can to reduce the amount. Willing to do alot of community service as well.

Am I drawing dead?

Simple math.

(You did something bad enough to get pulled over by a police officer) + (the police officer informed you that all you had to do was show up in court and there would be no fine to pay) + (you didn't show up to court) = gg

Yeah but like half the amount is in interest and this is the first notice I ever got...

edit: ugh, I'm just trying to figure out if there is anything I can do.

That suxs.

Call a lawyer.

This is prob very cynical but so far my experience with the law is that only poor and uneducated people are hit with the full force of the law. Everyone else who can afford a lawyer seems to be punished 1/5 - 1/10 as hard

This is true but in the case of traffic tickets it is often just cheaper to pay the off than pay lawyer fees.

Unless you want the points off your record or something like that.

How much do you have to pay now? I didn't show up to a traffic court date and had to pay about 700.

Lawyers are expensive. Chalk this one up as a lesson and pay the fine.

Yeah I mean this is a pretty boneheaded move not to show up. What do you think you deserve?

bye now

Why do you make a post like this and do not tell how much the amount is?
How can you possibly ask for advice when you are not even willing to share the most basic facts?

Well currently I have $1,900 in outstanding tickets. I got some good news today though. Might even end up turning out to be a blessing in disguise, lol..

gotta love when the wrong people get blessings

I have learned from poker that being at the table is not a grind, the grind is living and poker is how I pass the time
