im up on carbon, but down on bovada. i fucking hate bovada, yet it's the one with zoom. i'd instantly quit them if carbon adopted the concept, but they don't seem to want to. maybe playing anon zoom isn't a good idea, even though im making the right moves more often than not. i just dont get it.

Did you ever get a HH converter for Bovada? You really need one so you can see the absurd play there (thanks to exposed hole cards). You definitely wont want to play on another site if you see just how badly people are playing there. Take a stroll through the "absurd poker thinking" thread on 2p2 to get an idea of your average Bovada player's thought process. |

i have the converter. they only do hole cards in your recent hand history, not the one you can dl. or at least for me. i know people play bad there, but im getting sucked out on quite a bit. AA v T8s, AK v AJ, KK v QQ, straight v flush, set v set. they don't fold and when the river hits, wham, they get there. |

if you're down and making the right moves more often than not your wrong moves must be quite expensive |

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen | |

Bovada definitely exposes hole cards when using the downloadable version that you pick up 24 hours later. Sometimes it is missing a few hole cards here and there for unknown reasons, but for the most part it's all there.
I imagine Bovada Zoom has a collection of both impatient fish looking to just play lot of hands and some nitfish/nitregs nut peddling. Personally I had my biggest run of success in zoom half stacking so I could never value town myself too hard against any player. Since most fish dont buy in full anyway I didnt feel I was leaving too much money on the table. It also makes your decisions a lot easier since it's basically just flop/turn play with no river. |

I just opened a random HH file unconverted and it looks like this:
Big Blind [ME] : Card dealt to a spot [7s 9c]
UTG : Card dealt to a spot [2s Ts]
UTG+1 : Card dealt to a spot [7c Ac]
UTG+2 : Card dealt to a spot [Qd 8d]
Dealer : Card dealt to a spot [3d 8c]
Small Blind : Card dealt to a spot [7d As]
What do you see? |

hey dude, seems like you've exhausted the patience of most of the ppl here on LP.
i went through a few of your hands that you posted on LP, and just thought i'd post my 2c and general advice. i've put them below in a spoiler. feel free to read or ignore or use parts of it.
+ Show Spoiler +
Seems like you have a lot of issues, of which poker is the least important one. Iono too much about you background or your family issue and to be quite honest I just don't have the patience or compassion to really get to know the full story.
But as a human being I DO hope that you get through it. Granted all I'm offering are pretty worthless, cheap platitudes. I know it's tough and prob near damn impossible for you to escape your genes and environment but fuck man, I hope you somehow get away from it all. I know several people who also are in downward spirals at no fault of their own (they go to school, suffer from depression, treatment hardly helps, they lose their financial aid, they drop out, they self medicate, they lose their car, they can't finish school, they wait tables, never enough money to get back into school or fix their car etc).
i really wish there were people out there to help people like you. it seems like you have a lot of pent up angst and are quite truly dissatisfied with your life and hence you found poker as your way out. as a way to improve on your life financially, mentally and "as a man" (feels studly after all to win money through poker. winning = you're the best player at your table).
i went through a few of your hands and although I haven't played in quite a long time I can honestly say that you are 100% a donator to those micro games and have no business winning long term. You MIGHT think you can win at nl5 because the competition is quite pathetic but I doubt that you will win at any winrate considerable enough to make any long term profits at this game. Poker is alluring for a number of reasons but one of the most prevalent reasons has to be how long it takes for people to understand that they are in fact donators to the game. I used to play live for a 1-1.5 year stretch and I know a woman, who after winning 800K in a tournament, not only lost all 800K, but 4 houses in which she mortgaged and foreclosed on every single one. She made so much random money from the huge housing bubble, and had enough money to comfortably retire and pay for all her children's colleges and grandkids educations but she squandered all of that in a span of 1 year.
The issues you are to face are so much bigger than poker, and so much bigger than the scope of what ppl here care to post.
If you really are looking for some outs, some real fucking outs, there aren't that many left for you. If you are 18 or older I highly suggest joining the army and trying your luck there. Of all the "feel-good-i-changed-my-life-around" stories I hear it has to be army that provides the majority of them. Granted you basically become a mercenary to big oil and other large companies, there are a lot of perks. Great retirement, prob the easiest way to reach 100k salary, great healthcare, great insurance packages, great potential education reimbursement, potential free lasik, and apparently the lifestyle ain't too bad either. You get to be in a more physical environment with training, some martial arts, you get to shoot some guns and become more knowledgable about guns (learning anything even something as trivial as how to drive a manual transmission can be the spark that leads to more change), and I hear tons of Halo and CoD. Think about your current life and how your time each day. It might be time to be more active about change.
Regardless of what you end up doing. GL. Most ppl on LP prob find it e.z to judge you (myself included), mainly because we don't like being reminded or seeing what real suffering looks like.

I think you are using the Bovada Card Catcher instead of the Hand Converter? What HUD are you using for Bovada?
On the side note, I don't really play anon zoom because there is just no way to even try to exploit. I saw one guy on reddit who plays Zone but he said he really just used the most general strat. He was able to climb up from 5NL to 100NL in around 100k hands.
But man the normal games are insane! people will do all kinds of stupid shit vs you and you will just be so much happier even you can only 4-table.
My 3-week graph (I am even a shitty player):

mnj, thanks for the post, however, the military isn't going to be an option. (one for family reasons, two because they won't let me in) ive actually gotten away from a lot of the shit that was going on in my life and the past month has been stressful (moving) but I think I've found a peaceful place to stay at least for a while. There's quite a few things I want to try, as "outs" for my current life, but poker, at least micro's, remains a hobby. I'd rather run a business than play full time, at least run the business than maybe when im older play full time. (something that's actually feasible and is in the 5 figures range.)
another thing about my hands is that quite a few of them are literally there to piss other users here off. maybe some people know my name on carbon, but I've been winning for a couple months on that site. i know i have a lot of improvements to make, but i think a majority of that would come from having actual poker buddies, which I have entirely 0. it's like trying to play BW by yourself: you just simply need some other people to give their perspective on your game.
my ev line is exactly where my profit line is at and there's not a single difference in the two

That was a converted hand, what does the original unmodified hand history file look like? There is an option in the converter to treat zoom tables differently, maybe you have something misconfigured so it's not able to properly rescript the HH files. Dig up an unconverted HH and post it.
Yes you can use a HUD on Bovada using Holdem Indicator. It wont do you any good in zoom other than monitoring your own play stats. But it works just fine for normal ring games. |
