I agree with that - PM me some of your thoughts about making it better. My issue is that it's somewhat inversely related. And at PLO25 there is a lot more calling obviously than at higher stakes. Sure I can bet harder in certain spots and get more folds but in a ton of situations that isn't even what I really want to happen...

My thoughts would be I think that it's alright as long as I'm making the required gains in my showdown value (which after about halfway through the month and reorganizing things you see that start to shoot upwards much more expectedly on the graph).

So I've been playing PLO casually since something like 2007. I think I lost another 300k hands somewhere on an old database from a previous computer of PLO50 but nonetheless here is the remainder of my current database from way back then before my 2-3 year hiatus from poker. I've played about 125k hands in the 3 months since I started playing again 90% of which was in the last 2 months. Will continue to keep grinding and keep posting.





So some things I find interesting about the timeline. Partly it's just "absolute values" in terms of the other hands being played at higher stakes but that red line does become much more palatable. Obviously I've mostly been breaking even at PLO25 and have been tinkering with my game for the past 125k hands. I feel like I'm finally on the right track but I guess we'll wait for this months results (hopefully ending up at PLO50 before the end of the month) will have to be the measuring stick for that one.

In terms of my complaining about EV. Well I guess you can see why, 300k hands, mostly all at PLO25 and PLO50, $3000 under EV. Which obviously doesn't include the plethora of spots where you're sucked out before the last $5 gets in on the river. Nor does it measure flop luck in terms of 3-bet and 4-bet scenarios. In a 300K sample (but realistically, a much lower sample of "all-in" hands where EV is being calculated) it's hard to tell what that means. Probably puts me 1 standard deviation below normal, possibly two. Still pretty well within normal range, just not where you'd want to be ideally.

In the end the way I try to think of it is this - regulars will all go through stretches of running bad from time to time, they can last years. In order to keep the fish coming back to get excited and gamble, they have to win and get lucky sometimes, intermittent reward cycle. Some days it's your day to be the reward, and the other days your edge takes over and you win. The only thing I can control is working as hard as possible to develop my edge and hone my game. I can't control anything else. So that's where my focus must go. Unfortunately I've had the pleasure of being the reward more often than I'd like, but if I focused on improving my game instead of being annoyed about bad luck I'd probably be winning more than enough to compensate for the rewards given. It is what it is. Grind more, keep practicing.

That's sick volume you put out for the month. I have dropped off so much in volume this month just because of work and moving. I still haven't put my desktop together..
