Time to spend,
A couple of grand.

Here for 1 year on working holiday visa. I'm traveling around for now, to cities that interest me, so I can decide where to settle down and find a job. Yeah, probably English teaching, seeing as it's hard to find anything with computers or engineering with only conversational level Japanese skill.

Finding some underground poker games would be fun though.

japanese gov't is adding casinos soon right?

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen

Spending a couple of grand in Japan is pretty easy. Depending on the bar, you can do it in one short night.

Make sure to keep up updated with short blogs and a few pics.

nice, japan close to the top of list of places i want to visit, def jealous.

i've heard it's actually not that easy to get an english-teaching job there if you don't have teaching experience or a Master's degree in english/education, since it's one of the few places that pays english teachers halfway decently. if you do go that route would be interested in reading about how the job hunt goes. having conversational japanese has to be a plus i'd imagine.

what's your background in computers out of curiosity? i've always wondered how viable it would be to make a living off odesk/elance doing web development or something. competing with chinese and indians seems like it would suck, but there are definitely employers out there willing to pay a premium for quality work+english fluency/communication skills.

It seems they are still hiring. Especially at this time of year, academic year starts in April, one company I interviewed with said they will hire anyone who is white around this time. Especially if you do a simple online TEFL course or such, just shown that you're into teaching and not a fly by night backpacker.

I don't think I could compete on Odesk, would need a great easily repeatable skill. I did factory Automation in NZ, amoungs others, would like to get into optical recognition now, for example to guide a robot to automate the cutting up of whamms crabs. But for now. My main focus is finishing learning Japanese.

Not much luck so far. Have been on 2 dates but couldnt close on that same night and they I was off out of town in both cases. I should organise a photoshoot if I meet some cute ones

Haven't been doing much with Bitcoin lately, I've been trying to find a place to spend them here in Japan. I would like to have time to read up about the new and upcoming currencies and smart contracts etc

I'm late 20s

I was hoping to living anywhere but Tokyo, I'd like to live
in a smaller city with some nature. I didn't line up a job beforehand, just arrived and searching now, many of the jobs ads on gaijin pot require that you be in Japan already
