Drugs dont cause sleepwalking (or video games, dumb gullible bitch), psychosis does.

Some people just sleepwalk a lot more than others

edit - not saying drugs/wtfever use doesn't increase it, cuz I really have no clue, but I know some people who have had very odd sleepwalking experiences that are neither serious drug users or have (exhibit) mental issues.

i have definitely sleep walked before. not very often, maybe like 2 or 3 times max. but i talk in my sleep a lot.

I know people that have jumped out of windows drunk to avoid cops. I have heard of people who jump out of windows to kill themselves...

hmmm, anyways, to give my take on question:

I do not know a whole lot about sleepwalking but with the info given I would say it is most likely the guy was sleepwalking and fell out of his window?

or he was drunk or an idiot and thought it was a good idea jackass style.

or he was trying to kill himself.

The dealer is obviously rationalizing and self justifying the story so if they are playing a rationalizing game of telephone: video games would be a great (but actually TERRIBLE) scapegoat. (Why the fuck does everyone always blame video games??? rock music??? marylin manson???)

After writing this all out what I do think is the most likely is that the parent is a fuck up and the kid is a fuck up and the root cause was most definitely not video games. Not sure it is worth getting in an awkward situation to point this out but we are all fuck ups in one way or another and especially among fuck ups sitting at a poker table the stories and discussions from the dispute could be entertaining. For instance, I would love for someone knowledgable about sleep walking to enter this thread and drop some knowledge. Can someone sleep walk, open a window, and jump out all while still asleep???

I used to sleep walk a lot and still do a couple of times a year (usually in new places).

Some stuff I've done:
- tried to kick out a 14th floor window because it had bars and i thought i was trapped
- kicked a hole in a door because i was traveling and i think the door opened opposite direction.
- allegedly unlocked our front door as a kid.
- kicked my girlfriend (she was not happy)

As far as i know, sleep walking is caused by an immaturity in the brain that most people outgrow as the mature. Or at least this is what i was told half a decade ago.

For the record I've never done any drugs and i dont really drink but i have played a lot of video games and definitely sleep walked more in the past when i played more.

I'd say the decrease is more to do with aging and living healthier than the video games themselves tho.

were you in huge stress conditions ? So that it's perfectly understandable to have stress while playing competitive video games aswell.

hm, not sure I'd describe myself as having had more stress than average really.

TianYuan, I thought generally people do not remember what happens when they sleepwalk, and usually someone always has to tell them to which they are always shocked to learn of their escapades.

Well i dont generally remember most of it, just the tail end. And i guess nowadays its more night terror ish than just plain sleep walking.

But things like kicking a hole in a door comes with a certain amount of pain

I suppose that, unlike when i was younger and would do more plain sleep walking, that what i do now (once a year or so) isnt sleep walking at all but semi conscious reactions to a night terror type dream. Idk.
