Not to say I am not living a deluded life. I may be but knowledge of the above truths does free me up. I am not free but it does free me up. It can bring a serenity and a calm that follows the unyielding despair. Once I know that I am in ruins, we are all in ruins, and even the universe is in ruins it becomes ok. We are all going down. So, what are we going to do? Well, we are going to do whatever it is we are going to do. Why the hell am I choosing to go into a seafood market just about everyday at slightly difficult hours doing not so slightly mundane stuff? Why does my past and the way my brain fires lead to that outcome? I am dying man! I don't want to be spending my time doing that... but I need the plata, the dinero, the scratch. I want to surf. I want to go to Paris and eat escargot and just hang out in the Luvre garden with a quirky Parisian belle. I want to live man. I'll take a diner with friends. A bath in the forest. The transcendence of cooking a nice meal. There is no way out. Yes, in the potential absurdity of the look of the other but that is typically just not a big deal. The ceasing to exist. The mystery. The gamble. That is the heavy one. All the striving and joys and trials and tribulations will all be for nothing... but what about now! Yes, everyone says now is what matters! The Power of Now! Being in the moment. From my experience, that is a good place to be. Let a samurai behead me as I climax inside of Kate Upton... but I don't wanna die! I really don't but getting acceptance with that fact that I will die and it could be at any moment does make my soul sing: "Strange Fruit" deep in a forest with an audience of only critters followed by a multitude of bird a capella that was playing all the time. I am doing my best. The best the fates will let me. |
