looking back at my previous post:

-break 1200 for bench/squat/diddly (hoping for 275 bench, 425 squat, 495 DL, current is 205/355/385, being pretty conservative on squat and DL post injury)
*donate $1/lb to a good charity. a couple of years ago when i first broke 1000 i donated to ALS.net, hoping to do something similar

-cut back down to 175 around june/july (current 195)

lol... not even close.
bench - 185
squat - regressed to 315, feels bad man
dead - 405

total miss, totaling around 900. bad year hampered by back injuries and cutting weight. haven't really dieted a whole lot but added a ton of cardio and cut down on my snacking. i felt like as the year went on, i stopped caring about pushing big numbers and more on explosiveness/flexibility
ended the year at a BW of 180.

-add 30k to taxable investments - currently putting 0 in 401k because i don't see myself staying long enough to get any vested amount (100% after 3 years). right now i'm currently putting in 900/check, this will have to be increased to 1250/check

probably a spew, added about 7k to BTC + about 30k to investments, but withdrew 10k from an expected break up with GF... ended up buying a JLC reverso with that money lol (also bought a speedmaster while i was in vegas for my birthday)

-play these at a decent level:

totally slacked on piano, shrug.

other notes:
got a raise at work, which was nice. currently looking to move out of CA by the end of the year, but sucks because i'm probably priced out salary wise.

2020 goals:
* actually put a decent effort into learning some statistics. feel like i'm probably capped out as far as technical skills go without learning hardcore R/python
* started playing poker again a little bit on ACR; played a small game with work people which i took down for about 800, made me want to play again. only playing micros, lets see if i can build a roll from scratch

happy new years errbody

Your goal is powerlifting numbers and you are cutting and focusing on flexibility???????????????

If you are going for numbers you are going to have to eat and probably get a little bit fat if not full blown fat. Putting a lot of effort into numbers and barely benching your body weight is a bit of a face palm shake my head. I mean really there is nothing wrong with that in the grand scheme of things but you gotta pick a goal and stick to it.

I had to look up what a jlc reverso and a speedmaster was. I am not a watch guy so I think those purchases were a bit silly but whatever I guess. Making big bucks out in Cali I can understand the value of having a nice watch. Like if I was still into going to clubs I'd roll up my sleeves and have 3 Patek Phillip watches on... That is actually the ideal club outfit. All black Prada everything. Sleeves rolled up with 3 Patek Phillip watching on each arm. Drinking the finest champagne the club has to offer. Makes me sick.

If you have like $40k to invest why the fuck would you waste your time playing microstakes?

Are you really going to put in the work with solvers? That's the only way to stand a chance these days. I would take x amount of money and play minimum 50 cent / 1 dollar and devote a ton of time solving the game. That isn't realistic with a full time job. Basically, what I am saying is you are wasting your time. Why not spend the time learning python? Doing something fun? I would say piano but it didn't sound like you played it at all so whatever. Come help us with the revolution.

looks like things are going well. just remember to manage you career well. it wasnt too long ago that rikd was blogging about his nice life at his corporate job (that he got because his dad works there). now, he is a full-time pizza flipper // loco's sidekick/lackey that secretly wants to sleep with his sister. things can always change in the blink of an eye.

I beat Loco!!!

I throw pies. I am a fan of Loco. I don't want to sleep with my sister though. That seems like a projection.

nagging injuries set me back on my lifting goals; i starting seeing a PT for my back, which is when i gave up on getting big numbers (was about 195 when i was at my strongest last year)... hence the change in focus.

i probably am wasting my time, but i'm playing more for the hobby aspect more than anything i guess since it's way less stressful. learning more R is probably my main goal this year. i've done some statistical analysis and modeling for work but it's pretty elementary. i think career wise i'm probably as far as i'm going to be with just SQL and tableau unless i move to a less technical role (like a PM or something).

In all honesty it's good to be less weight and healthy. Powerlifting is a helluva drug though. It's honestly a project that can make life worth living. Have you given Brazilian Jiu Jitsu a chance? That is another great project although it is also pretty much can be injury intensive. Instead of being this fat powerlifter guy that's addicted to food and adrenaline and eventually steroids that thinks he's tough a BJJ practitioner it's typically svelte and actually can whoop some ass.

There's always management.

Have you ever thought about revolution? Oppression? Human rights?

I don't know a lot about you but anyone that can buy $7k watches is probably part of the problem. It's not your fault though per se. Why would you want anything to change?

i did bjj for a little bit and enjoyed it but ended up moving to socal and never started again. although i should, i can literally see a gracie gym from my patio lol. a lot of my coworkers train and do MMA at kings which has a ton of high level UFC guys. i should probably add it to my list. most of the time i just practice chokes on my girlfriend, lol.

expensive watches are retarded, while the engineering, craftmanship and design can be a beauty most are simply jewerly for men, pathetic flaunting of wealth

congratulations on your finances and physical discipline, also the piano is one of the last realms of men not to have been corrupted by technology

however

i'm like the scorpion i can't stop myself from saying this

a speedy? what's the problem lad you couldn't afford a daytona?

seriously the most basic possible uninspired watch. so insecure. now maybe i'm insecure to post this too, if i had any confidence i would just leave it but i'm okay with that. and i realize i'm an asshole to post this but i realized on the internet there's no reason it should affect you emotionally so I don't feel bad

but seriously

did you think you could trade net worth for self worth?

a speedmaster come on. trying to roleplay you're neil armstrong?

he fell for the speedmaster meme i just can't even

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen
