A part of the reason I posted was to do the opposite of what u say as a guideline.

WSOP not having HHs does make it hard to look for leaks in frequencies, of course it would be really useful to have . That said though i dont think it matters that much in the grand scheme of things. You can get by without it especially in a player pool that is also limited in the same way. In the end though, I feel mostly just off the table work and planning ranges for different spots is going to be the key to progression. Definitely the most important thing. IMO you can get away without it. WSOP NV games arent the best ones compared to those other states but we will be merged soon anyway as long as u can tolerate WSOP which imo isnt that bad. You'll have no issues continuing to progress

yeah for sure just working on getting basic ranges down on most frequently occurring preflop/postflop spots is hard enough and probably is the most important. Aside from handhistory thing, yeah wsop software does suck but probably not a deal breaker. poker goal in vegas wouldn't be to be a professional anyway, but just to keep pursuing a game I clearly enjoy + play live for fun. right now I'm thinking if I stay in NJ for a year or two more and get more hands in here then move after that it will be a good middle ground. I'll have a second sample of hands to analyze hopefully but not be tied to a location I clearly don't like long term. only thing that worries me is if I procrastinate during that time it will be a total waste and also I might just keep pushing it back for whatever reason.

edit: oh and I guess you can always play 25nl on ACR if you really want a sample

I've always said go heavy on the solvers and understand the least wrong Kelly betting for poker. I don't think that advice will ever be wrong.

In fact, knowing you more I say fuck this fun bullshit just go for retirement + poker. Especially, if you are ok with eking out like $40,000 / yr playing 1/2 living in one of your cheap places. The only thing is I don't know how people are going to stay ahead of the bots and Russians / Brazilians.

So, the spouse in the example in the other thread. They have to go through their spouse for any choice in order to retire at 55. They are not kidding that finding a new green tea they like at Costco was the joy of the week. Maybe, finding a new Netflix show. Maybe going to Bed, Bath, and Beyond if they have enough time except the budget dictates they don't have money for anything else except for frozen chicken tenders every night for dinner.

Also when I say young I am talking like 18-25. People can swing for the fences at any age but living at home in 30s is not great. I would know. hiems would know too. I thought hiems had choices? He can't even move out of his parents' home?

But, talking about retirement at this point with hiems is kind of silly anyway. $300k is great but nothing special at 34. Especially, since he does not own a house. We all know he is incapable of taking shots even though he doesn't have a spouse and still lives with his parents. So, it kind of feels like "mindlessly making money until 55 (probably 65)" for hiems. I feel for you man. I am mostly on the same track. Every break from work is a break for work. Every rest day is a rest day to get back to work. There are some good times to be had at some points but the life process can be a real mother fucker.
