hey guys it's your old friend DonVale. I've been playing these micro limits way too long, bottom line. I have a minor score every once and a while but every time I find a way to lose a good deal of money, at least it seems like a good deal to me. I don't think it's that I do not have the skill to play at my limit of higher, it's just that whenever i grind out a few hundred I seem to tilt it away. Hopefully on like my third go around it will work out. I'd like to thank Ryanto and some kid from Colorado for giving me a new start when i needed it. I think I'm going to try and keep this blog going because I need to find something to actually write since I pretty much no work during my time in school. Furthermore, I think i'll post my BR at the end of each day and possibly a few hands that you could all help me with (That's if you are not going to charge me for your time lol). But, I wanted to thank LP for all the laughs it has given me and hopefully I can learn a little poker from you people.

i put him on AK but i guess after looking at it with his turn bet he had JJ+.... flop bet just looked like a shitty cbet... so i was only gonna fold if an A or K fell

hmm I don't want to criticise you or anything, but I don't think that playing these kind of hands(especially after that pf raise) is necessary to profit on this limit... also trying to get into your opponents minds might be useless... tight is right

i think you have a few misconceptions of how poker works and how microstakes work for that matter.

that hand is absolutely horrible tbh, at microstakes u MUST BET. IF HE HAS AK, when are you going to bet? when he hits an ace or a king? A PERSON TRYING TO READ DONKIES BECOMES A DONKIE HIMSELF T_T SO when you have best hand jsut bet bet bet bet bet. thats all there is to it and maybe u wont have so many bad beats also. that logic of putting him on AK and folding if an ace or a king comes and getting no more value from the hand either way is ridiculous. Stop trying to "learn" by trynig new things, there is absolutely nothing besides basic ABC poker that you are going to learn from microstakes, and any play that isn't ABC at these stakes is horrible its that black and white my friend. So maybe if you stop following those tendencys you'll have more successs. after this long of a sample size surely you must realize you have a TON of leaks and you have to work on. So imo start finding out what ACTUAL abc poker is and apply that, because clearly your getting way too fancy.

I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance, by running away from the scene of an accident.Last edit: 25/01/2007 14:20

You know, Donvale, you can still go with your reads while playing premium hands and there is no shame in that. I think the best way to learn to play great poker is just by playing ABC tight poker and then trusting your reads from there. Not trying to Lag it up at NL5. The only reason to play LAG is becouse your opponents are very tight and you want to induce them to make mistakes they would not otherwise make. It's a tradeoff, and if your opponents are allready going to make poor calls and such then all playing Lag does is cost you money without the benifits of the image that would be gained against better opponents.
