so, the live card club in boston was sick as i was foretold. there's only two tabls but they seat 11 or so and they're really sick tables. they don't have electric card shufflers like foxwoods but they were really nice felt and wood grain i liked them better to be honest. they were also alot larger and just generally more comfortable. there was leather couches spotted all around and 3 huge flatscreen tv's with poker channels and scorcese movies on, it was pretty fuckin' cool to say the least.

security was real tight though, and i got the 3rd degree at the door, which was interesting. thing is if you drove up to the place you'd really never have a clue what it was like inside. it was pretty surreal. they also had free drinks/food which included sandwiches made to order haha, i was pretty floored at how proffesional the place was run.

anyways, on to the poker.

the pla<x>yer pool consisted of 3 or 4 old timers, a few well known drug dealers, and a few middle-eastern guys who i'm pretty sure own a food business in town. there was also a guy who i think runs a local sub place. the skill level ranged from bad to fucking horrendous, and as per usual the preflop raises ranged from $10 to $25 to occasionally $100 at a 1/2 game with a 150bb max buyin.

one of my first hands at the table i was dealt AA on the button and UTG made it 7 and a pla<x>yer I know from another live game who's really aggressive and ballsy and pretty decent called from MP. I made it 35 to go and UTG called. The flop came T72 with two clubs and I bet 50 when checked to me. The guy thought for a bit and folded. The table seemed pretty upset that I didn't show my cards (I believe cards had been shown every hand up until then). A few hands later I was dealt TT on the button again and 3 or 4 choadbrono's limped so I raised it up to 15. The pla<x>yer in the big blind, one of the old timers who seemed to be the least bad out of everyone minraised... Great. I called for set value of course and the rest of the table folded. The flop was a pretty sketchy KQT. I felt really shitty about this because with the minraise and the guys apparent tight play up until this point it was pretty clear he had AA KK QQ maybe JJ. He led for 40 and I thought awhile and flatted deciding to see how he'd react on the turn. The turn was the 4d and he hesitantly bet 50 into me. At this point I had like 120 behind and I thought a call could be in order, as at this point I was really confident he was on either AA or JJ, he just seemed generally uneasy about his hand, but I couldn't decide whether or not he could fold Aces and thought maybe getting it in now would be best. He thought for quite awihle when I shoved and eventually mucked face up: AA. I was pretty impressed but he did say he was pretty sure I musta had two pair which I guess isn't a bad read as that board is awful for AA. I ran card dead for awhile, then picked up TT again in the cutoff. There were a few limps and I made it like 17 to go preflop and was met with one caller, a super old timer who seemed borderline senile, however he was only playing maybe 10% of hands at most so I didn't think he was a total dope. The flop landed KJ6 with two clubs and I cbet for 25 when checked to me. He reluctantly called and the turn came a wonderous Td. He checked to me again and I bet out 75 not really knowing what to put tightass on. He said "Not sure your hand is good but I got to respect the play" and mucked face down but later said he had a shitty flush draw which sounds about right. For the next hour I had abunch of semi-ok hands to call raises with but bricked out on most flops. Later I was dealt A3 clubs on the button and it limped around to the cut off (literally everyone limped) who made it $10, obviously I called but the semi-decent pla<x>yer who mucked AA earlier made it $35 from the BB. There were two other calls so I figured fuck it since I was at this point deep wtih all people involved and threw in the green guy to take a flop. The flop was AJJ and it checked around to me, but I figured WA/WB and checked it back. The turn came a 3 and it checked to the CO who bet $200 into a $125 or so pot. Obviously everyone turbo mucked and he tabled JJ. Brilliant. I picked up a few small pots with BS c-bets and was starting to get tired and hungry so I called my little bro to pick me up. The last hand I played was KQ hearts, making an EP raise and getting a few callers. The flop came a nice QT7 with two hearts. I led for ~PSB which was something like $25 and got one (hesitant) caller. The turn was an offsuit seven and I could tell by my opponent (who was one of the shittier weak/tight old timers) that he wasn't super pumped about his hand. I bet $50 hoping to squeeze value from what I presumed was QJ, Qx or maybe an AT type hand. I also considered a lower FD a possibility. Again he hesitantly called. the river came an offsuit four and I decided my hand was best and so bet $100 for value. The guy thought for like literally 2 minutes (I was about to call the clock on him) and he finally called, showing KQ spades. Son of a bitchhhh. I only netted just under a buyin but it was a pretty good time and I'll probably head back someday if I'm in town.

but to be honest, live poker with strangers really isn't that fun. I got bored quick and it's probably good that I left early. My buddy I went with was stuck like 400 when I left and he just txt msg'd me saying he was in for 600 but sitting on 500 so hopefully he pulls through a win by the time he leaves, which will probably be 6am. He's like a live grinder and hits up a different card club every day of the week on top of working a full time job. He is like totally fine putting in 8 hour live sessions and it's definitely something I can't do. I'm such an internet donk.

Oh also, I witnessed someone call a $350 bet on the river of a four flush board with a set... Yeah.. Live poker = 25ptbb/100 profitability.

Sorry for the mega long post, thought maybe people find these live reports interesting and if anyones in the boston area hell maybe they'd like to hit up the game.

Take it easy,

Sean.
